Resort Thread Disney's Club Level (CL) Thread

I don't know how but my husband was able to have something waiting for us in our room on our anniversary trip in July (yacht club non CL) from the Floral and Gifts department, it was the 'Wish Come True' package. I have always heard that it isn't possible on check in day so it surprised me. In fact when we were checking in I asked if our room was available and she said no that they were arranging something special or something along those lines, which annoyed my husband lol.

I ordered a few gift baskets for my cousin and her DD this past June and while I have also been told gifts cannot be put in the room on check in day, I was surprised to see them set up in front of the tv when we entered our room at BWI. We didn't arrive at the resort until around 2pm and while I was thrilled they were there, I wasn't expecting to see them so soon. With that said, I am taking my niece in Oct and I ordered the Halloween in room celebration. I ordered it for our arrival day (our flight gets in around 8:45am) and my choices for set up were 2-4pm, 4-6pm, and 6-8pm. I chose the 4-6pm time frame as we have an ADR for 5:30, so hopefully everything will be all set up when we return from dinner ;).

I just got a call from YC! Confirming that we are arriving on Wednesday and just asked about what time we will get there and if we are celebrating anything. He didn't specifically say he's from Club Level so I was confused at first. I never got a call from them when we first booked so I never expected one so soon to my trip. Very excited! I hope this weather holds up...

Hope you have a great trip! :wizard:

I don't find you negative at all. Very helpful information. Our spring break is also the first week of April and since I will be becoming an AP in 23 days I was planning to go to Disney as much as possible. Thus the trip Thanksgiving week. I am already expecting wall to wall people that week, but for DH and myself the focus will be different, This time my 73 year old Dad will be coming with us. We are staying club level at AKL and we just plan on showing him the parks slowly and he will only be able to ride the attractions that usually have low wait times. I may see how I can stand the crowds Thanksgiving week before making my reservation for April. I just love Disney and this year is my year to celebrate the magic.

You have some great trips planned! I'm sure Thanksgiving week will be busy, but it sounds like you have a great plan to take it slow and enjoy the time with your dad :goodvibes.

We're tossing around a quick Easter trip. We are used to summer. Will I want to kill myself with the crowds? Will definitely do the extra fp if they are still around. Anything special around that time i should know about. Thinking poly unless someone tells me there is something amazing at another resort for Easter.

I'm guessing the answer is no, but are there usually any AP discounts that week?

I think the Easter crowds depend on when Easter happens to fall each year. We've been to Disney when Easter has been during a time when many schools are on break. We've also been to Disney when Easter has been later in April and many schools are not on break.

Either way, for us, Easter crowds are manageable. But we are not rope-droppers and are happy just using our FP's, additional FP's or rides with minimal waits, eating, and then leaving for some resort/pool time. I think the big crowds are maybe more of a nuisance to people who like to rope drop and/or hit a lot of rides in one day. Big crowds pile in and sort of damper those plans.

I also find that no matter how busy it is, we are usually able to snag a FP we want for later at night. There are certain rides we like "better" at night, so we just search each park for those rides and can usually snag one for around the 7pm time frame.

As far as special things, (I don't know how old your kids are) Epcot used to have a few fun things to do such as egg hunts and scavenger-type hunts. Seems like some only went up to a certain age (12?) and my girls outgrew some of the fun things. But Epcot was always our go-to on Easter day because crowds were low there and it was actually a lot of fun! Last year 2017, we went to MK on Easter Sunday just to experience it, and it was fun but I don't remember anything over-the-top special about Easter Day there, besides the Easter bunny was there for pics and I think he led the parade? Definitely crowded, but I had my 3 FPs booked so we were all set.

We used to stay at BC for Easter and they always had candy scatters on the lawn. They'd rope off different sections so kids could be divided up by age. From what I understand, some/most resorts also do this on Easter Day.

Last couple of Easter trips, we stayed at GF and really enjoyed Easter there. The lobby is decorated with gorgeous Egg displays. They had the same type of candy scatters as BC had. Also, at GF they had games, a volleyball net for games, and fun activities all day. So we did the candy scatter and then hung around for some fun at the resort. Then had our FPs a little later that day, maybe starting around 2:00-ish. I'll bet most resorts do similar things like this on Easter. I remember seeing BC had activities too, but we were always in a rush to get inside Epcot so we didn't hang around very long after the candy scatter.

Also, last few years (can't remember this year, though, since we didn't go) they have indeed included Easter for AP discounts. Back when we first started going to Disney during Easter, it was blacked out. So I was thrilled when they stopped blacking it out; HOWEVER, my belief is they raised rack rate so high that now they give us a small discount which sort of puts the price back at a normal rack rate, if that makes sense. Like I recall RPC costing something like 1400 a night at rack rate and the discount brought it down to roughly 1100 a night. So crazy expensive. I agree with @GADisneyDad14 that the costs are just so high at Easter that sometimes it sours things a bit. Still always fun, but so hard to justify those prices.

But, our schedule is similar to yours in that there are only certain times we can get to Disney. Last year we went at Thanksgiving and loved it! Our standard/normal times are Easter and July 4 week. Sometimes end of August too before school starts.

Just wanted to say - check out your message count! It's really cool at 19,999!

It may be more crowded but it's decorated beautifully and NYE fireworks! We're happy doing our preplanned fastpasses and having some nice adrs. We don't need or want to be on the go all day.

OK so I'm backtracking and just saw this additional post. Sounds like you guys park tour like we do, so I think you'd do fine with Easter crowds. May not be too bad anyway this next Easter since it falls later in April.

Trying to decide between booking at Poly Club Level (Garden View) or Contemporary Club Level (Atrium Club in Standard View) for our next trip. We've stayed at both resorts before and actually stayed club level at Poly before. We loved Poly club level, especially the ease of access from the club to the pool area. That said, it's been awhile since we've stayed at The Contemporary and we are curious about the Atrium Club. Would be fun to try something different and the ability to walk back and forth to MK is always a huge bonus. I'm not a huge fan of their pool area, so that tips the scales to Poly a bit. Anyone who has stayed at both, I'd love your take on this one!

Deciding between those two is the bane of my existence. (Hyperbole, I know)

I like both equally for different reasons but they are quite different experiences, and ultimately I give the slight nod to Poly. If CR had a better pool (zero entry) and legit kids splash pad, it would be totally equal in my mind (we're in splash pad ages, FWIW).

For us...

Longer trip in good weather with lots of pool time: Poly

Shorter trip with maybe questionable pool weather and/or a MK-centric specific purpose of the trip (eg, a MNSSHP weekend): CR

Sometimes rates/discounts guide the decision too. And sometimes if I have a lot of Epcot on the agenda, that also points me to Poly as I prefer the walk-able monorail access to the TTC vs having to rely on the Resort Monorail/transfer that you have at CR (unless you taxi/Uber/Lyft/Minnie Van).

A CR Standard View (really Bay Lake view) room is a superior view than Poly CL GV, in my opinion.

So, I'm a barrel of conflicting advice. Sorry!

Thanks for the info! Yeah, it's a hard decision. I keep going back and forth. We are doing a split stay and will be over at Port Orleans Riverside for the first half of our trip (3 nights) and then either at Poly or Contemporary for the next three nights. I think my eight year old would love being able to just walk back and forth to MK. Last time we stayed at CR she was still in a stroller! But I think I'll feel more relaxed over at Poly. Just the overall Poly vibe puts me in a good state of mind and I really love their Oasis Pool area. One of my fav things to do is take a nighttime dip in that pool. It's pretty much the perfect way to end a day at the parks. I also like that the Poly's Club is in close proximity to the pool area. Clearly, I'm kind of leaning towards Poly. LOL. But that walk to MK is just the best, especially post fireworks. Where is the Atrium Club located on the club level floor? Did you find it convenient to get to?

Yeah, I love the Oasis Pool too. There have been so many times we get back to the resort mid-day, don't have lunch plans but are hungry, and the Oasis Pool Bar & Grill has been the perfect spot. Sitting outside with a good meal/beverage just hits the spot.

At Atrium Club, the lounge is in the "middle" of the floor on the MK side. The lounge is roughly (key word) the size of three rooms and has three outdoor balconies facing the MK (there are speakers on the balconies off the lounge for fireworks music). It is smaller / has less tables than Poly's lounge (although Poly has a higher CL guest room count).

It is very convenient since it's right in the middle/right off the elevator. Even the furthest away room isn't 'that' far relative to other resorts.

But it's not "Poly lounge convenient" in terms of just being able to run in from, say, the pool, to quickly grab a beverage/snack, or back to the room if you forgot something. The Hawaii longhouse location relative to the two pools is really something unmatched at most other resorts, except maybe GF SL.

Granted anyone can be a shift change away from great/good/sub-par CMs anywhere, but I've had some really great CM experiences at CR. Sounds corny, but actually feeling being appreciated as a repeat guest is one of the reasons CR ranks high on my list.

Great info! And good to hear you've had some excellent CM experiences at CR. That really does make a difference.

Thanks :goodvibes. Looks like this post will put it over the edge....lol.

@mickeynut1 - I think you should bring back the Bulls signature for 20,000. When I first started coming around these parts it was always such a notable graphic on this thread! :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

Aww thanks! I took it off when I kinda soured on the Bulls, but it did make me smile every time I saw it :).

@GADisneyDad14

"lounge rat"??
New Disney Terminology???
Abbreviated LR
I like it!
:cool1:

Well... when it's too cold for the pool, the parks are bonkers crowded, there's football on the 3rd floor TV, there are board games available to check-out from the CM desks, and there's beer in fridge.... for me that's a recipe for LR conditions. :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

I have to agree with @GADisneyDad14 - that we debate this every time we go to Disney. We always do split stays - usually an EPCOT resort and either the Poly or the CR. One year we couldn't decide so we did both - the CR and the Poly. This past summer we chose the CR because we had the ability to do the CR Tower Club.

We agree that the Poly has such a relaxing feel. We love the beach area at night and like you for some reason we swim late night at the Poly but not at the CR. Now that our kids are older the CR pool is fine for us - not as nice as the Poly's but perfect for a afternoon break. We swam a lot this summer at the CR and really enjoyed that the pool wasn't that crowded.

If we let our kids pick it would be the CR hands down. They love the ability to walk to CR - on our last day as my DH and I were packing they had the ability to walk over to CR to buy something they wanted and got back quickly.

I also agree that we have had some great CM interaction at the CR. The Poly is hit or miss - but usually a miss. To be able to pick the best of each CL lounge - one can dream. :dogdance: Let us know what you decide.

Just inquired on the BC forum but figured I'd check here to. I have a club level etiquette question. Our first morning after our arrival, we are headed to HS Extra Morning Magic. I think we'll need to head out right before 7. Would it be appropriate the evening before to ask if we can get a couple of yogurts or bagels or something for takeaway? Also happy to pack some of my own breakfast bars, but it would be nice to have something a little more breakfast-y in the room before then.

Yes, you can ask for yogurts, they can grab those any time if they aren't already in the fridge (different lounges do it differently)
No idea if they'll have bagels around at night, you may rather want to grab them that morning.
But you can grab whatever you want (and importantly, know you'll use) and keep in your room.
Not a thing wrong with that.
They have to throw out anything sat out and not used so most will encourage you to take anything you want at the end of service

Yogurt isn't an issue, but I am not sure if they would have the bagels available in the back yet. My husband runs the marathons, which start very early in the morning, and we always grab a bagel and pb the previous morning so that he has something to take with him to the start line.
