Resort Thread Disney's Club Level (CL) Thread

Update

According to a Trip Advisor review dated Nov 3, a guest shared a YC CL experience with their pet dog. They posted photos of the dog on the bed and a view from what appears a high floor room facing Epcot. So, it appears that Maxie86 is correct - pets are welcome in any room at the resort.

I am not happy, since I was assured it was first floor only. Now, 3 weeks out, our choices have severely dwindled.

:sad2:

^^ Since that poster was reviewing the CL lounge and provided pics of it I guess we can assume that they are letting dogs up on the 5th floor. I don't have a reservation at the YC CL, and won't be making one in the future. But I don't like the way that WDW can't just tell guests what the policy is and instead tells people it's limited to certain rooms when it simply isn't the case.

I agree! The way Disney is going about giving (or not giving) information is terrible and not the way to do business :(.

So far, at Yatch Club anyway, they have done what they've said. No dogs in the lounge and no dogs on the CL floor (except for checking in), and non service dogs kept in one area.

Can some of the CL veterans explain what the CL benefits are beyond the free food and drinks and help with ADRs? We booked a GV CL room at the Poly when that was all that was available, but since then a Lagoon/Pool View room has opened up for $110/night less. I'm trying to figure out if the difference is truly worth it for us. It will be me, DH, and DS6. We would probably grab some food from the lounge in the morning for breakfast, but plan on spending most of the rest of our time at the parks or the pools. I just don't see us getting $110 worth of food and drinks a day. But if the service is overall better on CL, I'm inclined to keep it. Do you find that to be true? I have heard about mousekeeping issues recently at the Poly, do you think that's less likely to be an issue on CL? I've already made all our ADRs, so I don't really need help with that. Are there other benefits to staying CL that I'm not considering? Thanks!

Is it worth the extra $$? To us, no. Does that stop us from booking it? No. Why? See below.

Extra space to hang out in.
Convenience of said free food and drinks.
That little something extra to feel spoiled.

We can't really justify it other than we like it.

You're right, thanks :). Think I'm just getting confused....lol. I just remember reading reports of people being told dogs were going to be restricted to first floor rooms close to exits/dog walking areas for easy access, but that was before the policy was officially put into place. It'll be interesting to see how this all works out.

Our kids are 7 and 3 and we find that CL, especially at Poly, adds a significant "convenience factor" that makes it well worth it for us. "Convenience" for us comes in several forms... the location of the Hawaii longhouse itself (steps to both pools), the awesome lounge and view, the food/beverage offerings - especially breakfast, not having to deal with Capt Cooks, the usually awesome CMs, etc, etc.

I hate to copy and paste myself, but someone asked about the “advantages” of CL not too long ago. My response at the time is below. It’s long, but may be helpful as it covers several different facets of staying CL.

The "advantages" are relatively subjective and in many cases depend on the resort itself for some folks. For instance, booking CL guarantees certain room locations/views.... a top floor, a specific building, etc, depending on the resort. That level of control over where I'll be has a certain amount of appeal to me, particularly at the MK resorts that I tend to enjoy (Poly CL-Hawaii building; CR Atrium Club-12th floor; GF RPC-main building, etc, etc).

We tend to be "resort people," not park commandos, so I put a lot of emphasis on the room, accommodations, view, balcony space, etc - CL gives us more control over many of those aspects.

I'm not a heavy user of the pre-arrival planning service (DSS), but I do like having them available to quickly submit my room requests, do more obscure reservations like booking a cabana (which otherwise requires calling), etc. The ability to do all of that quickly over e-mail is a nice benefit for me.

I'm a big fan of the concierge texting service while on site. I use it quite a bit actually. We're prone to changing our plans on the fly based on the flow of the day, so sometimes need to tweak or cancel an ADR. A quick text and it's usually taken care of (otherwise I would have to call if less than 24 hours... who wants to be on the phone in a theme park with family).

We enjoy the lounge space as an extra "room" to be during various times of the day...like when someone is still sleeping, getting ready, taking a nap, etc. Some of the lounges are quite fantastic places to just "hang out" and relax for a few minutes.

I often use the word "convenience" a lot when describing why CL works for us. It adds a certain level of convenience overall that has value to us. I don't have to "think" about breakfast and feeding the kiddos - it's just there. I don't have to "think" about where to get a cup of coffee, or a glass of wine at night - it's just there.

We enjoy the interactions with certain CL CMs and have gotten to know several of them. Seeing familiar faces can sometimes make a repeat visit more fun/enjoyable.\

There are other small, inconsequential touches that aren't all that important, but are kind of nice to have. DS lost a tooth last summer at Poly CL. He showed his new gap to a CL CM (he was proud of it). She went away for a few minutes and came back with a little wooden tooth-shaped box to put the tooth in for the tooth fairy. It was very cute and a nice touch of guest service.

In my opinion, the breakfast offerings are definitely enough to be a meal. We will still do some breakfast ADRs occasionally just to break things up, but often we stick to the lounge for breakfast.

Evening apps are really only meant to be a snack and not a meal replacement. However, our typical style is to eat a larger lunch and we will have probably snacked a bit in our travels during the day. Often by evening, we're just not all that hungry and the lounge offerings are plenty. Again, I wouldn't necessarily plan on it being a meal substitute, that's just how it sometimes works for us. We don't make it a point to be at the lounge for apps... only if it happens to fit in the flow of the day.

Ultimately I find you’ll never be able to “make the math work” with CL as it’s impossible to put a “price” or “value” on most of the above.

Sorry for the lengthy post but maybe it’s helpful. Whatever you decide, have fun!

Apparently not, if the photos that were posted in that trip advisor review were from the reviewers trip with their dog. That photo showing their room view could only have been taken from a guest room. I have stayed at YC CL over 20 times, every trip water view except one. I am very familiar with those rooms & their views.

That reviewer stated he was there 2 weeks after the "dog friendly" was announced. So maybe YC management has tweeked things since then. But clearly, those guests were on the 5th floor during their stay.

No, the YC lounge faces the front of the resort. The view from the lounge is of the main entrance & port cochere. The posted view is definitely from a room.

That's what I thought too from a couple of CL stays there, but I often have a terrible memory for that kind of stuff so I wasn't sure...

Lol! I totally understand. YC is our home away from home so fortunately there is no forgetting those views. Well, it has been our home away from home. I really hope having dogs staying in the rooms doesn't change our love for it.
I've always loved the YC. Sadly, it's off the list for now.
We are considering a trip next year. I am hoping if I book a deluxe resort that also offers DVC we will avoid the issue.

It's more about convenience than value, and I value the convenience. I stayed at BC in September without CL and I really missed it. Breakfast time was hectic without the lounge. Disney is so intense and having the lounge and its CMs available is a very nice option.

Hi!! Do you know if they have whisky and sangria at WL CL? Thanks!

I don't remember any Sangria in Sept 2017.

Congratulations on the FOP fast passes!!

Yes, they still have turn down service at WL CL. We came home two weeks ago and was very impressed with this service. Each evening we returned to prepared beds, chocolates and the tv tuned to WDW schedule channel. One day we came back to the room for a brief rest before attending the Sleepy Hollow event and my son got in the bed for a nap. When we got back later that night his bed had been straightened beautifully - a very pleasant and much appreciated surprise! Enjoy!

It is nice to come back to a straightened up room and I still have a stash of chocolate at home.

Hi everyone:
We have a Wilderness Lodge CL reservation for 3 nights this January- I have never stayed CL and am looking forward to trying it! We've also never stayed at Wilderness Lodge but visited many times and love the resort feel. But at the same time wondering if we should pay to upgrade to Polynesian CL-garden view room (~100 per night extra)? We will have a 18 month old and a 4 year old and pretty much focusing only on Magic Kingdom (we are doing a split stay with AKL CL) for the first part of our trip. I know hubby will appreciate being able to get back and forth to the room easily which is making me think Polynesian would be better. Also Polynesian has some wonderful memories going back to childhood for my husband. We stayed once as adults and loved it then too. But the food offerings at Wilderness Lodge sound like they would be better for our kids (they like PB&J but not for 3 nights straight!) and also after reading the review where the Poly chef scolded people for taking too many appetizers I feel like the CMs at Wilderness Lodge may be more friendly? Contemporary is out for us (don't like the 'theme', don't like being up on such a high floor with kiddos on a balcony). Those of you who have stayed in both, what is your preference? Thanks!

We have stayed at the Poly and the WL and I think both are equal on getting back and forth. I agree not having to fold the stroller on the Monorail is great, but the Monorail sometimes takes forever it seems to make the loop. I enjoy the boats to the WL and we have used MK bus service in a rain storm and it was also easy, we just had to fold the stoller.

I work in an industry dependent on customer service so I like someone taking care of me for once. And we found out this last trip, it was great to be able to separate when DH had work to do. He either took the room or worked in the lounge or we hit the lounge and watched kiddy tv. Plus, I love hearing my DD talk about heading to the lounge at "the lodge" as she refers to WL.

I have mixed feelings about the dogs. On the one hand, that dog looks amazing and he seems to be having a magical time. On the other hand, he is on the bed: the very same bed that I may be sleeping on next visit.

I have dogs and I know that it's hard to clean up all of the hair. They should really have dog-specific rooms so people know what they are getting.

Dogs are becoming more accepted at various events and locations all over and I don't think that is going to change, so we are going to have to deal with it. I just hope Disney makes good decisions going forward.

Just to be clear, I don't have an issue with the review. The guest is clearly following policy and happy to have their pet along, as they should.

My thing is Disney: me taking the time to call them and assured one thing, then searching online (Trip Advisor) for the truth.

To this day, we have not received an email or call notifying us of the policy.

You quoted a post about YC's handling of right/wrong information. To me, they have not done what they've said. The review points to a CL/floor that welcomes pets.

110 a night is worth it to me. We have breakfast just about every day in the lounge. When we have a breakfast adr, we still grab coffee from the lounge. We may even take something small for later in the day. My kids absolutely love going there to grab snacks and sodas. They love the desserts at night while watching fireworks. We usually watch from the beach but grab some to bring with us. We also enjoy the beer service.

Since that reviewers stay, and after the huge public backlash, YC changed the original policy. Non service dogs will not be allowed in the lounge nor on the CL floor. And they have stuck to that.

We had a reservation at the YC and after seeing the picture/reading the review, I rang Disney last night. After speaking to several cast members who couldn't give a definitive answer I was finally put through to someone who was extremely helpful. They did state that dogs are being allowed to stay in rooms on the club level floor but not the lounge.
