Resort Thread Disney's Club Level (CL) Thread

Start with googling the dangers of Splenda, look for the reputable resources and you will see article after article. Personally, I was having symptoms of RA with normal blood work. My mom battled RA for 35 years so I was resigned that I had it too. After starting an anti inflammatory diet provided/supervised by a nutritionist, the majority of those symptoms vanished. Her first requirement? Zero artificial sweeteners. (See...super preachy). :)

Lisaloo,
I'm curious if you have read any information on stevia? Are they producing the same side effects? I was able to stop using splenda but I still would like something sweet in my coffee.

I haven't researched Stevia at all because once I broke my habit I only used honey and the occasional bit of raw sugar to sweeten. Stevia was new to the scene, but I was already used to unsweetened tea and coffee and seltzer.

I've also lost 30 lbs and had switched from coke to coke zero. After months of constant migraines my doctor discovered they were caused by artificial sweeteners. Aspartame and Sucralose are the 2 main offenders for me. Within an hours of eating/ drinking these I'm down with a migraine.

I too have switched to club soda / sparkling waters with an occasional real coke treat.

Sadly stuff with artificial sweeteners isn't always labeled diet and I have to scour ingredients.

Stevia has not caused a migraine but it is really too sweet for me. I'm used to no sugar now! I add cinnamon to my coffee to take off the bitterness and drink unsweetened tea. It was a difficult transition but worth it in the long run!

My last 4 trips to Disney I haven't gained any weight. I didn't LOSE any but not gaining is a win in my book! It's one reason I love the portions in CL too. Moderation is key!

I've enjoyed reading about all the problems with artificial sweeteners. I've been trying to convince my DH to stop using it in his coffee for years! Fortunately, I've never acquired a taste for it. Sugar is my weakness! I've always told myself that as long as I get enough exercise to burn it off, it's not a problem, but the problem is, I don't run marathons or do triathlons anymore. And even though I ran a couple of times (in addition to all the walking in parks), I still managed to gain a couple of pounds when I was at BC in June! But I did eat dessert EVERY night -lol! Bottom line...sugar causes inflammation in the body too, so you have to limit that too -ugh! I think I need to start running more.

Very excited to say I booked my first CL room today. My son and I will be at the Boardwalk Inn for 2 nights October 2-4. We'll be staying at All Star Music for 4 nights first with friends then when they leave we'll be moving up big time. It's my son's 10th birthday on the 10th so we're celebrating in style.

I'm so excited. We stayed at our first deluxe resort last year, the Contemporary and we loved it.

Can we use the lounge right away on check in day? Since we're only there for 2 nights I want to take full advantage.

Congratulations! :D What a great way to celebrate your son's birthday! Yes you can use the lounge right away, we commonly check-in early so we can enjoy breakfast. You can also use the lounge all day on checkout day as well.

Thank you. I purposely booked a late flight so that we don't have to leave the resort until 4pm.

Congrats on your first upcoming CL stay :wizard:. We've never stayed at BWI, but I have read a lot of great things about CL. I think it's a great way to celebrate your son's birthday :).

I think enjoying the resort and CL is a great way to end your trip :goodvibes.

I just updated page 1 with some general lounge info. Take a look and let me know if I've forgotten something important. :D

Is this the part that you just added? "Guests in the lounge do not want to see your Tinkerbell pajama pants!" LOL -- If so, thank you!!! I love the part about not letting children take food with their hands... Some of this stuff has seriously made us carefully consider whether or not we want to stay CL these days.

I know, right??? It's so gross. I don't understand people who just let their kids run wild. Do I want to pay $800 a night to watch little Johnny touch every bagel and muffin to find the one he likes best? Ugh! :crazy2: I'm a mean lady, I go up to them and say, "Where's your grownup?" and scare them away! :rotfl:

Does anyone know if there is coffee creamer available in the am at BC and CR Tower CL?

I don't mind bringing my own but rather not have the powdered version if there is a liquid available :)

Thank you

Yes! Definitely liquid! :D

But do you know which one? Coffee-Mate? Only the regular? Flavored one?

Sorry to be annooying :rolleyes1
I am picky about my coffee.... or my coffee creamer with a drop of coffee as my husband would say...

I always use the regular half and half. I don't know if they have coffeemate.

All the CLs have regular coffee, but one of my favorite things about CL is the specialty coffee/espresso machines! BC has the same espresso machine that GF has, and I love it! You can make an espresso (or something not as strong) with steamed milk and then add flavored syrup (vanilla is good). There is also half and half. There aren't flavored creamers, but there is a variety of the flavored syrups, and they are really good... The variety of flavored syrups does vary a bit from lounge to lounge...they didn't have vanilla at Poly when I was there. Also, at Poly they had an older style specialty machine that makes lattes, etc. so I don't know which style CR has since I haven't stayed there. They are in the process of switching all of the machines over to the Nespresso ones they have at GF and BC, from what I heard. I think you will be happy with the coffee/cream situation ( you just have to add the flavored syrup):)

Well if there is flavored syrup... all will be well.... I would have been happy with flavored coffee-mate but syrup and half and half? That's better than I was hoping for :)

Thank you for letting me know @Dispro1 !
