The fine print says that a proper code must be used to indicate Grocery for the double points rewards to apply. Does that mean if groceries are bought at Walmart we don't get the double points because Walmart comes up on the bill not "grocery store"?

I have a Chase Freedom card and there is currently a 5x bonus for the first quarter for grocery. They specifically said that Walmart, Target, discount or warehouse clubs do not apply.

Yes. Regular Walmarts do not count as Grocery.

I have no experience with this but I believe Super Walmarts do, if you check out on the Grocery side. Again, I have no experience with Super Walmarts.

Walmart may or may not be considered a "grocery" store. It all depends on how Chase has your local Walmart assigned in their system (which presumably is related to amount of sales or something). My local Walmart is not considered "grocery" but rather "warehouse" -- however the Walmart near my sister is considered "grocery" and purchases there qualify for the extra points.

Thanks for the replies. I probably won't shop Walmart that much but might if it definitely got us double points. Our local Rouse's store is just grocery so will use it most.

Does your local grocery store sell gift cards? We often get gift cards for a lot of things at Kroger to get 2% on disney visa and fuel points with Kroger.

I have gotten double points at a super Walmart.

We have the Chase Freedom card and are currently enrolled in the 5% deal for grocery stores. In the past, I got credit at our local Super Walmart for the grocery promotions. As a PP mentioned, Chase specifically said that Walmart, Target, and Discount/Warehouse clubs don't apply to this promotion (I don't remember them saying that in the past). I made a small grocery-only purchase at our local Super Walmart to see if we would get the bonus % (since we had in the past). Nope. Tried another Super Walmart to see if that one worked. Nope. :-( If you go to your Chase account online, you can click on a specific line item charge and see if you received the 5% bonus or just the straight 1%.

I did this and it showed 2% with a purchase at Super Walmart

Are you using a Chase Premier or a Chase Freedom? I think it might just be excluded from the current Chase Freedom promotion. I'm guessing you have the Chase Premier since you said you got 2% -- Freedom would have gotten either 1% or 5%.

Chase Premier Visa, that's what the original poster was questioning.
