Resort Thread Disney's CARIBBEAN BEACH Resort

It isn't smoke or even mildew that I'm familiar with, it sort of smells like bug spray and marigolds. My daughter says it smells like antifreeze. Whatever the smell is, the entire building smells like it faintly walking around it. It's pretty strong though and just odd. Definitely not a good smell but not a super bad smell, either.

I hope it fades

Just put in my Touring Plans room request for Aruba 55! Hoping I get my request, but know it is just that. We shall see. Arriving on Friday, and cannot wait to see this resort! Thank you for all the contributors on this thread, so much information!

Other than smelling odd, we are loving Martinique 22. Close to everything and bottom floor is nice with kids. The beds are so comfy and we love the room. Busses are running great so far, too. I'm not sure if it is from the Hurricane but the resort feels pretty empty!

Did you have to pick a specific room or were you able to pick just that building?

I see a lot of requests for building 51, do you mind sharing the perks of 55? I've never been to CBR and this thread has been so helpful.
Thanks!

I requested via fax through touring plans a room on the ground floor of Aruba 51. It seemed like a good spot to walk to OPR since it's right by the bridge and close to bus stops. Has anyone stayed in that area?
Yes, we were in 5102 (I believe - forgot to take pic of door!) But definately bldg 51. We had a corner room, beautiful, and easy 5 minute walk to OPR.
And, just an fyi, it was closer to the Jamaica bus stop (many times first on, first off) than the Aruba bus stop.
I so love this resort!

@mickeystoontown,
I am so sorry for your loss! So often we spend equal or more time with our work family as with our own! It's no different than losing a family member! Please accept my deepest condolences! Thank God the family has you to lean on!
GBY!
Glad to hear you both found other jobs. Such a stressful time!
You will be in my thoughts and prayers!

Hi!
I would like to start a thread of KING rooms...
I've never stayed in one, but would like to keep a running list...
So, if anyone stays in one or has in the past please @ me, so i can keep tabs!
:thanks::thanks::thanks:
Sparkle on fellow Disers!

That's one of the glorious blessings of CBR, it's quiet and feels relaxing!

Just to add to what @Kevin355 already said, we too have had probably 10 stays at CBR and have never had a room smell bad. Not saying it never happens, but it is rare and people do tend to post a negative experience much more often than a good one. CBR is a large resort and there are probably rooms that go unoccupied for weeks maybe. If there's an issue in the room with say a dirty AC air filter, it probably won't be noticed until guests are given that room. Just want you to know that bad smelling rooms is not a chronic issue at CBR, or any WDW resort for that matter.

CBR is a fantastic resort and ever since our first stay we haven't been able to stay anywhere else. I hope you have a Magical trip!
Thank you so much for the reply :) It helps to hear from others that are familiar with the resort. Putting any worries about it behind me, we're very excited! 26 days!!!

We had a strange smell a little bit too and when we asked about it, we were told by a grounds keeper that it is their Organic bug spray that they use. He said they spray the rooms and outside for mosquitoes. Could it be that, that you are smelling?

We were in 1319 and it has a pull down bed.

Be glad...we requested Jamaica 45 and ended up in Barbados 16...the end of the Earth...

We requested 45 and got Barbados 13. Oddly enough every time we rode the bus almost everyone got off at Barbados. We didn't mind the location, but hated that our room opened onto the courtyard which is a smoking section.
