Resort Thread Disney's CARIBBEAN BEACH Resort

Did you have to pick a specific room or were you able to pick just that building?
I see a lot of requests for building 51, do you mind sharing the perks of 55? I've never been to CBR and this thread has been so helpful.
Thanks!
I did put in a specific room request, and will be anxious to see how it pans out. I decided on Aruba 55, because although we plan to visit OPR once or twice, we are only there for 3 nights, and most of our food will be consumed at Epcot! I did not figure we would benefit much from being close to OPR. We will also have a car, so if we really needed to get to OPR, driving over might be an alternative. I just liked the views that I found from the rooms in that building, and it seems pretty close to the Aruba bus stop. I hope we get the request, and that we are not disappointed! I was worried about putting in a specific room, and then not liking the location anyway. Sometimes I feel like I am messing with fate!

Not sure but that sounds like a possibility! It was strong enough that I still could smell it this morning and one bag still smelled like it after leaving. We are headed back now, I hope it is not as strong! It's isn't a big enough problem to mess up a trip though. We are having a fabulous time. I just love the smells in most of Disney and wish my room was like that, too!

ok, officially 60 days out. paid for preferred. what's our best request/option to fax in w/3 kids. don't want to ride the bus forever but also don't want to be far (walk a lot) from bus stop either. went to POR and we got a preferred corner room less than a 5 minute walk to our bus stop and it was perfect. NEVER stayed here so appreciate all the help/tips. THANK YOU! Getting real now. Still haven't told the kids. OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Every village has its own bus stop so no matter where your room is you are never more than a 2 minute stroll to one. And the bus rides are not long as CBR is very centrally located. The longest ride will be to MK and that's only 12-14 minutes once you pull out of CBR.

We are at 60 days out and in preferred too! :)

I have read through this thread but since some of the information is from a while back and disney is good at changing things up...lol. I will ask and see what people think now. We would like a room close to the bus stop. And I was wondering what bus stop gets picked up first. Any specific building thoughts? We don't care about views or really even close to the pool or food area. Thanks

This is probably a dumb question, but I assume the buses to MK drop you off right at the entrance, so no monorail or boat ride...is that correct?

the bus situation at CBR hasn't really changed...all villages have their own stop close by so bus stop proximity isn't an issue...and there are two entrances buses use so sometimes Jamaica is first other times Martinique. getting a preferred room or Jamaica are your best bets.

Which stop is picked up first is dependent on which entrance the driver decides to use. If they use the side entrance then Jamaica is first. If they use the main entrance then Martinique is first.

I have heard that at one time they were running 2 sets of buses one starting at Jamaica and picking up a few stops and one starting at Martinique and getting the rest of the villages.

ok CBR Disboard friends, I promised some pictures when we returned and I finally got my Memory Maker pictures downloaded so here are a few of our favorites:

We just got back from CBR on 10/4. We were in the Jamaica building 45. The buses did use 2 sets of buses during our entire stay for pick ups to the parks.
Jamaica >Aruba>Barbados>out AND Martinique>OPR>Trinidad North>Trinidad South>out
Coming back from the parks Jamaica was always the first drop off except when we came back from Disney Springs.

I'm not sure if this is always or just during busier times.
No one ever had any trouble getting a seat on the bus heading to the parks but coming back the bus was always packed full sitting and standing (much like the buses at most of the resorts).

Thank you. Coming back is always CRAZY. But I was hoping for a smooth start to our morning...lol. Did you request a specific building or is that just what they gave you?

We requested Jamaica in our requests and faxed in that request...and we got that. Most the time the buses split the resort. Coming home, if the buses entered the main entrance (making Jamaica one of the last stops, we got off at Old Port Royal and walked to our building...we beat the bus back (we could see the stop from our building) every time.

My one general complaint about the bus situation, is that at the parks, the CBR pick-up location to go home is one of the farthest (and at MK THE farthest) out from the gate. Arrival is fine, they drop you close to the gate, but at the end of the night it was a long walk to the line for the bus. Maybe this has changed in the past 18 months (I doubt it, those signs were as permanent looking as anything ever can be at WDW).

BUT, that really was one of the only complaints or negative thoughts we had about CBR. I would stay there again without complaint...but since it was my choice to pick it for our 2014 trip, form next year we are staying where my wife wanted (but free dining wasn't offered). And then moving to the Dolphin to stay with Starwood points from work travel.
