Announcement from WDW about closures due to Hurricane Matthew

Although there also is another announcement expected within the next 2 hours. Speculation is that announcement will be all parks will close at 5PM EDT today and remain closed tomorrow. But, this is NOT official.

I've never been able to find one. I always call and add any celebrations or room requests to our reservation.

I know there are many different Hurricane threads... but I'm not reading exactly what I am hoping to hear.... We arrive Sunday. I have not ever been to Florida immediately after a Hurricane. Is it foolish to think our vacation will go on as planned or will Disney most likely be able to clean up quickly and go on as usual? I keep checking Southwest and flights are only showing to be effected through Saturday? I'm a little uneasy after all of the mess with Southwest canceled flights back over the summer! Thank you for any encouragement or straight talk!

I think it is too soon to know. It could be fine, or there could be significant wind damage. While that is more likely on the coasts, there is just no way to know yet.

Put down a deposit for November 2017 for a few days at CBR in a pirate room. Will be my second time and looking forward to it. Loved the pirate room when I was there. I noticed that the time I booked there were no rooms available in standard rooms (not pirate) just water/pool, king and preferred. Is it normal for it to be booked up that far in advance?

Just rebooked my cancelled hurricane trip to Thanksgiving week at Caribbean Beach! Our first stay! We were booked at Contemporary for this weekend, mainly for MNSSHP. Decided to drop down to a moderate and extend our trip during Thanksgiving, and decided to try something new. Now I need to start going through this thread a bit!

It looks like I'm still arriving on Sunday! I'm so happy I could cry... hopefully, after all storm assessment is done, flights will resume tomorrow and Sunday will be business as normal.

Hey!! It has been a while! Hope you and the family are doing well. We are excited to try someplace new. Jumping right into planning a new trip at a new resort has taken some of the sting from having to cancel this weekend away.

My family and I are staying here for the first time in January. We have a 2 year old daughter, is there plenty for her to do there and have a good time at the resort during afternoon breaks?

She'll love the playground and the hammocks on the beach. If it's warm enough, they have a splash area by the pool that would be perfect for her. Also, the island where the playground is, has great viewing spots and "secret paths" to explore. They also have great activities like movies outside and dances in the dining area. My DD was 2.5 there and loved it.

We were supposed to check in yesterday. We of course couldn't make it. #1 A thank you about Disney bc we received a full refund for yesterday's room and dining cost, nice size refund. #2 Not only was the GM so sweet with my TA during hurricane prep prior, we fully expected with all the craziness; we wouldn't be able to still have the room request he helped us with. After a delay, we're just so excited to get there! And we know the resort has been doing all they can in an emergency situation. Any room would be wonderful to us right now. But, just rcvd our room is ready text.....Jamaica 2nd floor room 4557 All around, Im just in awe with how Disney as a company, and the amazing individuals who work there; have handled things!! I'm in route and wish I could twinkle my nose to be there now!!!

After several delays, I will be finally arriving at CBR tomorrow! I am also happy that all of my friends living in the area ended up making it through the storm safe and sound. I do feel guilty that I will be going to have a good time, while so many lives have been affected by Hurricane Matthew.

After our extended 2 day stay we are leaving CBR today, we are in building 38, and have tons of water and 2 toaster and a tea kettle, anyone close want any of it?
