Resort Thread Disney's CARIBBEAN BEACH Resort

Checked in yesterday. Had requested Jamaica, 2nd floor. We are in 4154. NO Murphy bed. We did get second floor. Arrived at the resort at 1, but room wasn't ready until almost 4. First time we have had to wait. It's a lovely location even though it's the furthest Jamaica building from OPR. The walk is very pleasant and takes about 8 minutes.

Also, no bug spray in the room so not sure what is going on with that. Today is our first park day. Let me know if you anyone has any questions or needs me to look at anything.

Enjoy your stay. We stayed in Jamaica 41 right after the renovations. Had a lower corner King Bedroom...walk out to the path by the lake, go to the bridge then over to OPR. Pretty walk in the morning with the lake being still.

I think they are doing bug spray stations around the parks and Disney springs, not leaving it in your room. You go to the station and use it there. You don't get a bottle to take with you or anything.

We just returned from our week stay 8/27 -9/3. I really love CBR, and it was our 4th time staying here :) We always book preferred and I put in a request for Martinique 25, 1st floor. We were the first stop off Magical Express at 11:30am, yay! received a text that our room wasn't ready, so we headed to the food court for lunch. By 2:15 I took a pleasant walk to the custom House to see what was up (I really enjoy walking around this resort). Our assigned room Martinique 24, 2nd floor was not ready yet....So I asked what could be available now. Trinidad North 3121 (1st floor). I'll take it!

Upon entering the room, I see a murphy bed and an armoire. It was clean and smelled fine, however it is an ADA room, which means the bathroom is huge, had only one sink inside the water closet area and NO CLOSET! The armoire next to the murphy bed had 3 drawers, ironing board, and a few hangers. You couldn't hang anything because the fridge takes up most of the space. I always bring extra hangers and try to hang all of our shirts to cut down on ironing (what can I say, I'm a little high maintenance). My son was weirdly horrified that the bathroom door wouldn't lock, haha! I assured him we wouldn't bother him while he was in there :)

After returning from our Be Our Guest dinner (which was our favorite of the trip) I again went to Custom House to see if there was anything else available and I was open to 2nd floor, but still wanted preferred location. Nothing was available. It wouldn't ruin our trip, I just resigned to living out of our suitcases and doing my hair/make-up at the table while my boys took their loooong showers, lol! I took a walk by the lake every morning, beaches didn't open until 8am, but I saw people sitting on chairs anyway. I would've loved to sit in the alcoves around Caribbean Cay, but the gates were locked until about 8:20ish.

The busses were excellent! I liked being near the last stop in the morning because we could be on our way to the park shortly. I didn't mind being the 6th stop to drop off because we were sitting and relaxing by that time. The Disney Springs bus was the only one that came from the other direction.

We used the quiet pool because my sons thought the pool party activities were annoying, haha!

All in all it was a wonderful vacation, and I learned what my preferences will be for our next trip in a couple years :) The weather was also better than I expected and I wouldn't hesitate to go in August again!

Anyone know what Rack Rate is for October 1-8, 2016? The website reports no availability and thus won't provide me pricing. We had booked the bounce back last year so I had to pay rack for water/pool view, and I want to make sure that if any of my online check-in preferences override getting said view that I go get a refund for the difference in rates for the difference in view.

I don't think room requests done through online check in would override a booked room category. Requests don't always get granted as it is, and I would think that they would only look at your category of room when seeing if any match the things you requested. I guess I could be wrong though.

I just want to cover my bases, incase. I don't think I've ever been granted a request, but in the off chance that room that meets my "requests" but not my "view" shows up I wanna be ready

Leaving in a couple of days didn't put in any requests but just read a post from DisneyDebbie now I have a question for anyone there now.

Does the Bridge for Caribbean Cay have a gate and is it locked? What are the hours it will be open?

Last time I was there (two years ago) the bridge did not have a gate, it was the play area that did and it had I believe 7-Sunset hours, might have been sunrise - sunset but the walkway stays open so you can get to OPR and back

Thank you, we were there last year when the bridge was closed for refurbishment we ended up in Barbados and loved it there. Thought we would wing it this year, but if the bridge is closed during night time hours I might what to pick Barbados.
Just looked to see the options for request, it has change you can only pick Martinique.

The walkway over the bridge is always open. There are pathways that run closer to the edge with benches and hammocks in little alcoves, these were gated off until an employee unlocked them. The signs said closed from sunrise to sunset.

I was wondering why my 2nd request was gone all of a sudden.
That is so strange that they changed it and left Martinique as the only village. I looked last week and all the villages were listed. This had to have just been changed this and it may be temporary.

Weird and wonderful strangenesses are certainly nothing new with Disney's websites, that's for sure.
Amen to that. Was on yesterday ordering pictures from photopass...let's just say that we had some pictures that were not us and some that were, and then when we ordered them, someone else's pictures came up. We got it taken care of, but my family looked a little more foreign than I remembered. 8-)

I just went to do online check-in and noticed that, too! How odd. We wanted to request Jamaica. Wonder why they are no longer accepting requests for the others. Are they trying to encourage calls for room requests?

Just back from my first stay at CBR & I think I found my new favorite resort!!
We were in Aruba, building 53, king bedroom. Our room was ready upon arrival, spotless, great location & in good shape. The food at the food court was always fresh & tasty, and the area to get your drinks & eat was always kept clean. Every CM we encountered was friendly and the resort itself is just so pretty and relaxing. I really only have one complaint, the bees around the seating around the main pool. It was bad, but we still enjoyed our pool day. The bus service was always timely and after park close extra buses came quickly to bring us back to the resort. It was raining & the AC's were pumping on the bus so being soaked & then cold was not fun lol but what can you do. This was my 30th trip to WDW and I have stayed at just about every resort on property & it was a special trip for just my son & I & I have to say staying at CBR made it even better. I will definitely stay here again.

Thank you to everyone who contributes to this thread!! It helped a lot!!
