Resort Thread Disney's CARIBBEAN BEACH Resort

Here now, in Jamaica 45, we are in 4553 and family in 4554, rooms are connecting. 4553 has a Murphy bed, 4554 does not. Awesome view, we are right by bridge to head to old port royale, takes maybe 5 minutes to walk over and the walk is beautiful. Luggage just got here, about 3 hours after we arrived.
Tomorrow is time change so we are unpacking and headed to bed early.
If you have ?s let me know, I will try to check back tmrw
Enjoy yourself.

Hi everyone,

We are staying at CBR April 23-May 1. We have never stayed at CBR and are very excited. We reserved a preferred room. Is there any reason I should request the Martinique building over the Trinidad North building? Also, is there an advantage to having a corner room? We are going to be driving a car, so is there a lot of close parking near the preferred buildings, or do a lot of people park there to use the pool and get to the dining area?

Sorry if these questions have already been answered. Thank you so much!

Six of one, half dozen of the other. Both are right next to OPR.

We just booked CBR again for 5/15-5/22. Last year when we went, check in was a total nightmare. How do you guys check in? Online check in or just when you arrive? Also did you make a request and get it?
(I did online check in last yr)

I like to do the Online Check In. The check in experience has always been quicker when I do the Online Check in and I let them know about what time we will be arriving and our room is usually ready when we arrive.

Also did you make a request and get it?

I always make our requests, Jamaica 45 and 2nd floor, with the phone CM when I book the trip. You can make room requests during Online Check In but the options are predetermined and very limited so I just skip that section during Online Check In. We have gotten our requests every time. Just realize they are only requests.

Agree with online check-in not being a problem. Of course I am apparently weird and LIKE visiting the front desk and think this straight to the room stuff is nonsense.

As far as requests, from Online Check-In I have had no luck - once they "upgraded" me to a Pirate Room, which I was able to change as I was in early in the day. Then the last time I requested Barbados so I could walk from the Customs House but was put in Jamaica 45 (wanted probably least requested and got probably most requested) and got in late so was stuck. No requests other than online check-in ones on those. I do have requests on my reservation for August and think I will try the suggestion of @dansdad and leave that section blank.

I'm not sure why, but our requests have NEVER been met at CBR! However, when we physically check-in, we have ALWAYS been able to get what we requested. It's almost as if the room assigners never even looked at our requests. Why else would we be able to get what we want when we physically check-in? Strange!

Woohoo!! Just checked with the new summer package and was able to upgrade to a King room for about $200 less than the Standard MYW package! Looked like only King and Pirate rooms were available for my dates though.

AND it looks like you can opt-out of the special Magic Band and keep your color (purple for me) if you want which makes me soooooo happy as it looks like some Star Wars something and I am NOT a Star Wars fan.

Quick murphy bed room update. 2238 has a murphy bed, 2nd floor, very close to bus stop and Martinique quiet pool. The room faces the parking lot, but is set back from it, with the lovely CBR landscaping front and center, then parking lot, then bus stop. Loved this location! 4153 also has a murphy bed, 2nd floor, inside corner room (at one of the bends in the building.) Building 41 is the furthest building in the Jamaica section and took 6 1/2 minutes to walk to OPR via the Caribbean Cay bridge, but only 5 1/2 by walking past Trinidad North and over the road bridge (very nice, safe sidewalk there.) Would gladly stay in either section location again!

Haha. Now that I am in a King room, I need to change up my requests. Lol. Second floor, corner room. Removing the village preference as the one in Barbados that meets that is full-on parking-lot view!

I did look at the room views on Touring Plans and am actually considering joining for the fax service as I found several I would love to have. Haha. All in Jamaica. All have nice lake views.

Ok decided to try ringing to put room requests in today (yes I know we don't go till July but I wanted to try):rolleyes1
Anyway the CM told me I can't put in a request till 10days before we arrive, now I'm sure I have read on this thread (have been through it but can't find it so could have been a dream:laughing:) that someone else had had that response but it wasn't true, so really the question is, should I try again or wait?

Call back. You definitely do NOT have to wait until 10 days before. That is something some phone CMs have been mistakenly telling people. You can add room requests anytime from the day you book up until 4-5 days prior.

I just got off the phone with a fantastic CM - first my tickets weren't showing up on MDE since I changed to the new package, so they ended up just making a new reservation and will transfer the money I've already paid over to the new one. Now everything shows up, and I was able to recustomize my MagicBand to purple rather than Star Wars silliness (sorry, not a fan). She put my requests on no problem whatsoever - with the "this is only a request" caveat I knew comes with it.

I've never had a problem with a CM taking my requests. Our of curiosity, since you said "ringing" are you in the UK? I wonder if they have some different parameters for guests in other countries like some cruise lines do.

:thanks:Thankyou, will keep trying:-)

Yea I am from sunny England haha, though CM didn't ask where I was calling from, I will try again though and see what happens:thumbsup2

I heard that the food court was going down for a refurb. Does anyone know when that will happen and how long?

Thanks!

None of the Sites I normally check for WDW refurbishments has anything listed. The only thing any of them list is the Aruba leisure pool closed from 2-22 to 4-15. Where did you hear this?

The big advantage to a corner room is two windows, so it makes the room feel even lighter and a little bigger. I personally always request a corner room, but it doesn't break my vacation if I don't get it. (Though I've got my fingers crossed for my requests for August - and pondering actually joining Touring Plans just for the room request fax as there are 3 specifically I'd love.)

Just back from another great trip at CB! We were in Jamaica 43. We were happy with the location. The room was very clean and housekeeping was efficient. We normally come back in the afternoons for naps and swimming and our room had always been serviced before we got back. The resort was beautiful as always and cast members were excellent!

Our only cons of the trip was the food court and the buses. And honestly they weren't even that big of a deal. We just decided that we prefer the food court at POR better. More choices are available there for us personally. We also had a little issues with the buses looping around the resort twice to pick up guests. One day our travel time from getting on the bus to Animal Kingdom was 1 hour and 12 mins! And we also spent just under an hour getting to Disney Springs! For us that was the tipping point that made us decide to always have a car on site for future trips.

Overall this was a pretty flawless trip and we came home happy and relaxed!

Those travel times to the parks are really unacceptable. Wow.
