Resort Thread Disney's CARIBBEAN BEACH Resort

Yeah know how I said I wouldnt be back this year and we were thinking of California.....kids are protesting BIG TIME they want CBR!! Im like...but its California!! Cozumel?? nope..even back to my beloved hometown of Scotland aint happenin.. There not buying it...sigh..cant say I didnt try. We cant book right now but have to wait a few months but whats the betting were back at CRB...every year I try to get them to go somewhere else and we end up back at CBR..lol why do I bother!!!

So we are tossing around either first week in june or second last week in August...last year we did August and I swore never again..I live in Houston where its hot but that heat last year in Disney about finished me off!! Ive never felt it so hot anywhere ever! It was unbearable..trying to remind my husband of that! ahem. Im guessing the first week in June may not be so bad?

You sound like us....maybe we'll go somewhere else.....nah, we're going back to Walt Disney World. As you know, we travel the last week of May and the first week of June and it's hot but not unbearably hot.

We have booked a preferred room. Our flight will arrive night at night, and we will likely arrive the resort around 1am.
If I put in room request, which village or building number should we ask for?
We really want it close to the main building since we arrive so late (and tired).

Also, can we request second floor? And is there elevator for bringing our luggage up to the second floor?

All preferred rooms are located in Trinidad South or in Buildings 26, 25 or 24 of Martinique so you'll placed in one of those two villages. As far as buildings requests, I'd suggest any of the three Martinique buildings that I just listed.

You can have Bell Services take you to your building when you arrive and Old Port Royale will be closed at 1 a.m. so you won't be visiting OPR until the next day.

You can request second floor. There are no elevators in any of the buildings.

I am so happy I found this thread and thank you mickeystoontown for all the great information in the first few posts! This will be our first stay at CBR since 1990!! I believe it was considered a value resort back then since none of the All Star resorts were even built. We are super excited to splurge a little for our girls trip this year! We normally bring a couple our grandkids along with us and we stay at POP but this trip my 2 daughters and myself that love everything Disney and normally visit every year are bringing my 82 year old mama that has NEVER been to Disney!
Mickeystoontown, I am wondering if the list in the beginning of this thread that lists all the rooms with a murphy bed is updated or if it is an ongoing update?

I better get busy updating my countdown!

The murphy bed list is definitely an ongoing update.

My families trip is 12 days out and I am going CrAzY!?!?!? I cannot WAIT to experience CBR!!! Magic Bands are in, ME tags are ready, we surprised DS his count down is going now!!!

Has anyone had good experiences using the touringplans.com room request fax? First time for me, curious on how helpful it will be. Can't wait to share our trip with you all!!!

J
I used it. Requested Jamaica, ground floor, adjoining rooms. Got pirate rooms, on 2 end floor, but next to each other. We did complain since queen beds are listed as standard, which we booked, and don't want pirate room with doubles and they moved us. But I used touring plans and didn't get any of our requests. We also had the same requests on our reservation.

Can you tell me how many floors there are in the buildings? We are stopping in CBR for one night on the way to our cruise for an Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake. More than 2 floors might be a deal breaker for us! It's our first visit to this resort.

Thanks!

Liz

2 floors. Which is why there are no elevators.

Booking a King Room with our PIN code for July 17-23...got park tickets with free park hopper upgrade included. How far in advance should we call Garden Grocer or Amazon to deliver Snapple, fruit, bread, lunch meat, peanut butter, and other stuff for our trip?

Wow. I wonder if I should specify that I don't want a pirate room as a request! We have a water/pool view booked. We want close to OPR in Martinique, Barbados or Aruba if possible.

Pirate rooms are a different category, they are booked separately. You will not get a pirate room unless that is what you book.

I wouldn't worry about it at all. The only time they were trying to "upgrade" guests to the Pirate Rooms was during the room refurbishment that took an entire building of non Pirate Rooms out of inventory.

This. :thumbsup2

Nope. They tried to "upgrade" me marathon weekend 2014 - the year BEFORE the refurb. I don't know that anything on the reservation will help, but you can certainly ask to "downgrade" when you get to the front desk.

I've found that as long as you're polite about it (and clear that you are willing to wait to get in your room if you are there before check-in time when they would have the best chance to reassign you) they will try to work with you. (I found "I'd rather let a family with kids have that pixie dust than me who is traveling solo" to work very well for my situation. :) )

On the contrary - they can and will if necessary (or if they want to give pixie dust). I was booked into a standard room with a cast member discount for marathon weekend 2014 and they initially "upgraded" me. I got in early (definitely before 10am, maybe before 9) and POLITELY asked if there was possibly another room I could be placed in and let a family with kids who would love that room have some pixie dust. I said I was more than willing to wait for my room. The woman I was speaking with got on the phone to the room assigners and in a few minutes had me moved into what I think was a preferred room - all I cared was NOT PIRATE because doing the marathon I did NOT want to deal with those bed frames - with no issue. It was even ready then.

I don't know if putting a request on would do anything - primarily because it is just that. A request. If that is where the space available is for whatever reason, they can and will book you into that section - possibly with the water view.

When we arrive, we still need to check in and get the room, right? So will that be at Old Port Royale or where else? I am at a loss of when you meant.

Also, I am disappointed at the lack of elevator. We were at POFQ, they are 2 floors and have elevators.
Not that we cannot walk stairs, but my DH and my backs were bad and couldn't haul luggage up or down the upper floor.
Really surprised and disappointed.

Old Port Royale is the food court, concierge desk, store, main pool and pool bar. I believe that you are referring to The Custom House which is where you check-in/out. When you make your requests, request a ground floor for medical reasons. It is a request but they will try to accommodate you.

You will check in at the Custom House, not Old Port Royale.

Actually, the buildings at POFQ have 3 floors which is why they have elevators. The buildings at POR that only have 2 floors also do not have an elevator.
