Resort Thread Disney's CARIBBEAN BEACH Resort

I just read a recent blog post on another site that CBR offers water taxi transportation from some of the more distant rooms to the marina at Old Port Royale. I'd never seen anything about this anywhere else. Does anybody know if this is accurate/current information?

I think I know what blog you are referring to as I read the same thing. I know that there were boats coming and going when we were there in May but I didn't see the signs out like the blog post had. It may be something that has become permanent. Maybe someone who is there or is going soon can give us more information.

Okay I've searched and searched and can't find the bus routes for CBR. Like the MK starts at this bus stop and makes its way around, etc. I know that typically this resort - each park bus runs a different route once inside the resort. We are a large drill team with 70 people staying on Spring Break, so I want to direct the girls to meet at the bus stop closest to us that might be the first one to be accepting passengers, so it doesn't get to our stop and it's already full. Make sense? Thanks for your help!!

When we were there in the fall they had boats running to OPR from Trinidad South (pirate rooms), but I can't confirm that they are still doing this as I think it was a test at the time. This was in addition to the special boat during the bridge construction. We stayed pirate rooms a few years ago and never minded the walk of that helps any (and we were in the furthest room on property).

There's no way to know for sure as it all depends on which entrance the driver decides to use. If they use the main entrance then Martinique is the first stop. If they use the side entrance then Jamaica is the first stop.

Last two times I have stayed there, the first bus stop was Jamaica then Aruba and on from there.

Standing in line waiting to get on plane. Be there in 7 hours. Just got text notification room is ready.
I had added to my reservation 1st floor closest to main building and pool and Martenque building 25. Called a few days ago and asked that the CM put building at top of list cuz that would be my preference. She told no need to cuz it doesn't matter they'll try to fill all request.
So I got 1st Floor Trinidad North Building 31. So I guess that's pretty good. But I now think it matters the order you put your request in. Still excited and can't wait to get there.

Good morning from Scotland! Myself, wife and wee girl are going to cbr in May. It is my wee girls 5th birthday whilst we're there. What sort of things will Disney do for her birthday? Having looked at this thread, I am planning to request to stay at Martinique due due it's close proximity to the amenities. Is this a wise choice? Thanks for all the help and advice.

How exciting. The last week in October is our favorite time to go and that's our son's birthday. When you check in you can get a Happy Birthday button for your daughter to wear during your trip. Just about every CM, and many guests, will then wish her a Happy Birthday. It is one of our sons favorite things to this day.

You've picked a great resort. Martinique is a great location. Our 2 favorites are Jamaica 45 and Aruba 51. They both are a very short stroll across the bridge to OPR and the Main Feature Pool. Plus the stroll is so beautiful in the mornings with the sun rising over OPR.

Have a great trip!!

Get her a birthday button, but be aware that it is purely up to the CMs you encounter whether they do anything beyond saying "Happy birthday!" Sometimes pixie dust happens, sometimes it doesn't. I would just prepare for the birthday wishes and consider anything else icing.

Just remember that a request is just a request and there are no guarantees. If you want to be sure to be close to OPR, you should book a preferred room. Otherwise, honestly I don't find things as "OMG HUGE" as most people try to make it. A lot of people make requests as @dansdad said.

CBR is a great resort!! :)

Where do you get the celebration buttons from? We are celebrating our 5th anniversary. :)

You can get those at the concierge desk in The Custom House or in Old Port Royale. If you are in the parks, go to Guest Relations/Services and they'll be happy to give you an anniversary button.

You may get free pixie dust but equally having celebrated birthdays at Disney it is lovely to make some nice arrangement of your own. Depending on what restaurants you are visiting you can make cake/Cinderella slipper arrangement etc. We have also had some free pixie dust along the way by marking on our restaurant reservations. We had a lovely card signed by all the characters once at Crystal Palace. A multi-language happy birthday card from Boma. Free cupcakes at numerous venues. :)

We are booked in for bibbidi bobbidi boutique at 2pm and then booked for a meal at be our guest restaurant at 6pm on the day of her birthday. We've also organised a birthday hogwarts letter on the day on the day. Can't wait!

@dansdad (or anyone, but I know he's recommended Shutters before) - I was looking at the menu for Shutters and pondering it (though figuring out when is my challenge as I've only got one "free" night (1- EPCOT for Illuminations, 2 - MK for Wishes, 3 - EPCOT with a friend for a late "linner", 4 - the one possibility, 5 - DAK and I'm assuming Rivers of Light will be later than I'd want to eat after, and I leave before dinner on the 6th day) and I'm meeting friends at Disney Springs around 1 so I might be full still). Do you know if they'd sub the mashed potatoes for the mac and cheese with the steak? Ordinarily I love mac and cheese, but chorizo really does a number on my stomach.

Yes you can. Both my wife and I did this exact switch back in October.

Yes, you can sub one side dish for the other.
