Resort Thread Disney's CARIBBEAN BEACH Resort

So I made the plunge to book here for our December trip. I booked before they announced the stopping of the GC so glad I booked before that announcement. Hoping for a better discount, especially since it now looks like no double dipping, but going regardless whether I do or do not.

We've stayed at Old Key West, POFQ twice, and the Poly. We love POFQ (especially building 4) so I've been hesitant to book here due to the buses and being so spread out. Thanks to this board I'm hoping to get Jamaica to eliminate the space between the resort. Still keep reading mixed reviews on the buses, but I'm crossing my fingers we'll get lucky when we're there. We liked only having one dedicated bus (usually) and one bus stop (almost always) at POFQ, and being a 2-3 min walk to our room from it. My expectations aren't that high, but hopefully it won't be a huge difference. The one time we had to stop at all the POR stops after they picked us up at POFQ seemed sooooo long.

The construction really doesn't effect what we enjoy on our stays, so we're excited about trying out this resort for the first time unless some great discount sways us away.

We just got back from a great trip to Disney and Caribbean Beach! We had some pixie dust and we luckily had all of our requests granted! Connecting rooms, Jamaica 45 and to add to it - one room was a corner room!! Being in Jamaica, buses were never an issue. And if there was a wait it was only ever 5-10 minutes and really - that's not a long time! Jamaica is a great request and I thank those of you who recommended it. Short walk over to the main pool and to the food court. Our quiet pool was rarely used so you could have a large pool all to yourself. The only downfall of the trip was that I felt mouse-keeping left much to be desired...even with daily tips....oh well, it can't all be perfect...but it was 99% perfect!! We will be back to CBR! Happy travels for all of your upcoming trips! I look forward to reading about your adventures.
 
No, it does not. It says "As shared previously, please be aware that Old Port Royale Food Court, Shutters at Old Port Royale, Banana Cabana Pool Bar and Calypso Trading Post will be closed for refurbishment during your visit", but has no reference at all to the start date of construction. But it has our name, reservation number, and April 21 arrival date on it. If I were just an average visitor and not a hyper-planner Disboarder, I would have taken the email at face value and assumed that there would be construction during my stay. It's clear as mud why some April folks got these emails but not others.

I haven't had experience with this situation yet as I just booked on the 15th through my TA. But in years past most correspondence would come straight to me and occasionally it would go to my TA. My TA is pretty rad and forwards it to me pretty quickly during those circumstances. I'll try to let you know if I get any information about this.

I'm pretty sure a lot of TA are here finding things out before we do from Disney too!
 
Last fall, I booked a bounceback, free dining trip at CBR for this coming fall. I use a TA. My TA has been on the phone with Disney, and confirmed that we will get the gift cards. However, I haven't received ANY email from Disney about the gift cards. I'm only going on what my TA said. Should I be nervous?

I don't think you need to worry. You booked before the deadline and will be there when the construction is going on. Free dining with gift cards...you've got it made!

I booked my June trip through a TA back in Dec...two weeks ago I received the email about the 75 dollar gift card. You should be getting it not the TA.

Disney doesn't get my client's email address so the email wouldn't go to the client. It comes to me.

When did you make your room requests? I am going in October and have 3 rooms reservations and would like to be close together.

I'm in a similar boat...don't know if I explained my saga on this thread before, but here it is:
August 2016 I booked Free Dining Bounce Back at ASMu for August 2017.
September 2016 I transferred my reservation to a TA.
February 2017 I heard about the $75 per night Gift Card offer at CBR so I called my TA and asked her to see if I could switch from ASMu to CBR (standard room) and still get Free Dining + the $75 per night Gift Card. After 2 hours with Guest Services the TA got my switched to CBR with Free Dining, etc, but in a Pirate Room. I saw the email confirmation. A few hours later my reservation was no longer on MDE so I tried to re-link my confirmation number (which stayed the same this whole time.) No luck linking the Res # so I call Disney Internet Help line, they tell me I can't link my reservation b/c it's CANCELLED!!!
I text my TA, now at this point the poor TA is at home. It took her from 8-10pm on the phone AGAIN to get them to reinstate my reservation which they admitted was a Cast Member error in cancelling it. Since so much work had to be re-done anyway, my TA asked if I could be confirmed in the standard room instead of the pirate room which was my original request. Disney agreed. Later that night I was finally able to link my reservation in MDE and see everything as I wanted it.

Never have I received an email from Disney or forwarded from my TA that says I'll get a $75 per night Gift Card. I'm just assuming since my original book was made in 2016 and my switch to CBR was made during the "Gift Card offer dates" that I will be fine.
In addition, my in-laws are meeting us at CBR for the last part of our week. My MIL booked in February 2017 also during the "Gift Card offer dates". I don't know if she received an email or not. Honestly, I'm too afraid to ask her b/c I don't want her to panic, feeling like she should have gotten an email if she didn't. Luckily, if I have to "fight" for my gift card at check-in, we will be there 3 days before the in-laws to get it straightened out for them in advance. *I'm glad the in-laws are meeting us in Disney, I just want everything to be perfect for them without stress or wasted money.
SO......all that to say, you're not the only one that didn't get an email. I think DIS can be a blessing & a curse sometimes where there is probably nothing to worry about for either of us, but with all the posts it makes you wonder.....

We have two rooms at all star in August we booked with free dining bounce back last September.
It was for two cs meals per day, two snacks and one mug.
If they have two standard rooms at CBR that I could modify that reservation to would that be a better deal ??
It would be 199 per night compared to 114 but the gift card would off set that and we would get the regular dining plan (one table service, one counter service and two snacks per person per night plus the mug)

Has anyone done this ????
 
Just wondering if anyone can tell me if a gallon jug or half gallon jug of milk will fit into the room fridges???

Interesting. I haven't received any emails from Disney regarding client's stays. But my guests have received emails and they have forwarded them to me and/or mentioned them in calls/emails. As long as their reservation is linked in My Disney Experience Disney does indeed have access to their email. (At least that's where I'm guessing they got the email information to send it directly to the client vs. the TA)
 
If I understand it correctly, the gift shop will be closed during the construction? If so, will they have an alternate site for souvenirs/merchandise?
