Hi Everyone,
We are going to CBR January 23-30 and I'm sooooo excited! It will be me, my DM (older, but active, in good health!) DS (8) and DD (5). My DH won't be able to come due to his work schedule, but he's not as big a Disney fan as I am, so I don't totally mind! We are hoping to get a Murphy bed so that my DM can have her own bed if she wants to.
One of the things I'm most excited about is the resort and its pools, especially the main pool with its great theming and slides.
My question is: Do you think we will be able to use the pools in January? Or will it be too cold? We are Canadians, so even 50 degrees will seem balmy to us compared to the 0 degrees we will have in Canada at that time!
Thanks, in advance, for your help! I'm a LONG TIME lurker but new poster and have always really appreciated the information, friendliness, and helpful nature of everyone here on the DISBoards!

0 degrees? You must live in the tropical part of Canada we had -10 around the end of January last year and plenty of snow to contend with
Heading from PEI to CBR on the 29th Jan and also intrigued as to the pool and air temp at that time

Haha! Yes, me too! I meant 0 degrees Fahrenheit!

air temp has historically been between 50-70 Fahrenheit, and 10-20 Celsius, according to some websites...

Perfectly fine. Our 2 requests are always Jamaica 45 and upper floor.

Yup.
Thanks, you have been great with your info:disrocks:I will try to get the 1pm check out then as our flight back to UK is 18.50 so by the time we have checked out etc ME should be due for MCO:thumbsup2

Thanks!!! If anyone needs to know anything CBR related while I'm here I'll try and remember to check in here!
Are they proper coffee mugs in the rooms or paper ones?

Edit to say: it's def cigarette smell. Left for breakfast and I can smell it on us!

We had a cigarette smell in our room in Martininque last month. When we got home, everthing needed a good wash, even our suitcases because that was all we could smell.

Yuck on the cigarette smell. My parents are chain smokers and I hate the smell. I always carry a bottle of febreeze with me when I travel in case I end up in a room that has that smell. It helps some. I hope my sister, niece and I don't run into this when we are there. Even though I am used to it with my parents, they don't smoke inside because of my allergies to it.

My DH and I will be staying at CBR for the first time in January! We can't wait to try this hotel! We booked a King room. Are those scattered throughout the buildings or are there specific buildings that have king rooms? Thanks!

Have a question for those who have checked in over the past few weeks/days. Did you do on-line check in and if you did, what time approximately were your rooms ready?? Or even those not doing online check-in. Just curious.

I'm also curious about on-line checkin. I haven't stayed at CBR before, and my online checkin indicated I would have the streamlined experience. I remember seeing which was which somewhere, but can't find it. I have done online checkin before, but only when it was just online or not.

When I did my online check in I did not see anything where it said streamlined checkin. Where is that found at? Does that mean I still have to go to the front desk to check in?

Mine said that when I completed checkin. Since I haven't stayed there, I would kind of like to go by the desk, but I'm sure it will be ok.

I am ok with going by the desk just hoping it will not take long as we want to hit the ground running!

Yeah, but we did have a Disney trip the first week of January in 2010 where for a day or two it was warmer here in Alberta than it was in Orlando!

It'll be at Custom House, look for the sign. If it's not busy they may just direct you to the regular check-in desks.

Oops, sorry, misread that. As already said it would have been at the last step of check-in online.

It can get cold in Flordia. I have been in November..December..January and February and it's been like a roller coaster for temps. We go to Daytona a lot and one year it will be in the 70s..and the next it could be in the 50s or lower.

Hello all! I hope that you are all enjoying the last bit of the weekend. I wrote an article for Magical DIStractions and it is all about Old Port Royale. It not only covers the food court but also Shutter's, Concierge, shopping and the arcade. You can read and comment here: http://*******************.com/old-...h-resort-a-fantastic-place-to-dine-shop-play/

On a previous trip we hired a villa over Xmas and NY and I seem to remember the weather being glorious but the photos of the trip involve way more hoodies and long trousers than I remember :)

We just checked out yesterday morning after spending seven nights there. It was our first time at this resort. We drove down and when trying to get a hotel in Georgia we were told everything was sold out anywhere near and our best bet would be to drive 2 ½ hours and start looking there. We decided to see if we could get an extra night at CBR. After about ten minutes on the phone we were told they could accommodate us (it would be about 1 a.m. when we arrived) but after the first night we’d have to switch to the room we originally booked. We were fine with that. When we arrived and went to check in we were told we wouldn’t have to switch rooms and would be in the same room all seven nights. We booked a standard but got upgraded to a water view for the week. We were in Martinique 2255 which has a murphy bed which we knew we’d get since there were five of us. We had a great view just out our door of the water and beach. Our shortest son (about 5’4”) slept in the murphy bed. His feet hung off a bit and he said the bed was hard but he was fine for the week.

Every evening we ate dinner in the food court. The food was good and we normally got the kids a large pizza to share. We usually ate around 6 p.m. and the crowds were not bad at all. After dinner we went and roasted marshmallows for dessert, they did that every night from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

I think we lucked out with the bus service. We always seemed to be the first stop in the morning and after hitting one or more two stops it was standing room only. Bus service coming back wasn’t bad at all. We only had to wait long once. That was at Disney Springs and after getting in line (behind other families who were there before us) we had to wait 35 minutes for a bus. No one could explain why our bus never showed up and told us it was a busy time of night but heck, not one CBR bus for over 35 minutes, you should have seen the line of people waiting when one finally did show up.

The kids swam in the quiet pools each night. They’re teenagers so they preferred that one to the main pool. We just had to remember to get them towels each night before swimming.

Are pets allowed at this resort? We saw a little chihuahua in a room near us as he was barking at us when we walked by. Do they only allow pets in certain rooms? We were kind of surprised to see him.

I’m not sure if we’d stay here again or try somewhere else. As much as we don’t mind walking, I can’t imagine the long walk and having to walk that each time while going to OPR if we were in some of the buildings farther away.

All in all, a good vacation. And we spent six days in the parks and for the first time ever we didn't get any rain! :flower1:

I'm getting nervous and second guessing CBR after hearing some of the reviews. We have always got connecting rooms when requested, but I'm reading so much on here about that not being the case. Just wondering if I made a big mistake booking CBR instead of AOA. I don't want our family split across the resort.
