Resort Thread Disney's BOARDWALK INN Resort

WDWKOOK.....We couldn't believe it either. But we're just not complainers. We sat by an employee on the plane going home and she said...sometime you just gotta be the squeaky wheel. haha.....

Maybe I'm late to the party, but when did they change the room request selections for on-line check-in at BWI? I went to check-in today and both drop down menus had basically the same selections -- highest floor, ground floor, near lobby, near elevators, and some other floor level selection. When we went in August, there were lots more choices. I guess it's not that big of a deal, but I really did want to choose "2 queen beds" since they tried to give my DD and me a king room last time.

Some of you might remember me...but I am down to 32 days until my quick "surprise / proposal" trip for my girlfriend. She has no idea about the upcoming vacation. We are heading down Thursday - Sunday and will be staying 1 night at BWI (after day in EPCOT). I am finalizing reservations and plans, and I am now down to room requests. I am going to send a fax 5 days prior, but I am looking for help on requests. I don't necessarily need specific room numbers, but I am trying to think about what would be best for my girlfriend. Our room type is "standard view". Any help on recommendations on what to request? Thanks!

We vacationed at the BWV during the last week of October and noticed that there were no flower arrangements anywhere in the lobby. The Boardwalk used to always have beautiful arrangements and my parents would specifically walk into the lobby even when we weren't staying there (when we ate dinner there or at Y&BC) to look at the arrangements. Did we just catch it on an off week?

There used to be arrangements in the lobby and in the little "foyer" area between the valet services and the lobby itself. On our last two days there, they returned a table to that foyer area (which had two large sofas in the previous days of this trip) that used to always have flowers atop it.

This is a very minor thing, but we were just curious if the Boardwalk management cut the flower budget! (A trip to the Yacht Club yielded several flower arrangements and a jealous mom ( ;) ) who wanted arrangements in the lobby of her hotel!)

We were there in early October and there were flower arrangements a plenty. In fact, we had fresh flowers during Hurricane Matthew--not sure why there were none when you visited, but I can attest they were there and absolutely gorgeous.

They changed the options about 2 months ago for all WDW resorts. And they are pretty much useless for every resort. As always, the best way to make room requests is to call the Main Reservations Line and add your requests to your reservation. This can be done anytime from the day you book up until 4-5 days out.

I just booked my husband and me for a 4 night stay at the Boardwalk Inn in late February. Our first time. We've typically stayed at Beach Club in the past, but the rates were more reasonable at BWI. I'm excited and nervous all at the same time about trying someplace new.

We usually have a standard view & I always request a courtyard view (fountains or the quiet pool) & specifically say "no bell services & not the front of the resort". We usually wind up overlooking the quiet pool which is just so pretty & quiet, it's perfect.

Enjoy your trip & early congrats to you!

Great, I will look more into the courtyard view. Thanks!

Good to hear! Like I said, the tables where the flowers were even kept weren't even in place until the last two days of our trip so I think we just hit a weird, fluky week. It's a little thing, but it's the little things that make Disney stand out.

The BIG question is coming up soon. I hope everything goes as planned.

A popular Standard View request is an "Epcot view, 5th floor." This does overlook the quiet pool and garden area as another poster described. Don't forget to mention your proposal when you fax or if you call have it added to your reservation and if you can, mention it again at check-in.

Please update us after your proposal if you can!

It'll be fun trying a new resort! The nice thing about BWI is that almost all the rooms (except maybe a couple) have balconies and a Standard View room can be any view, except a BWV. It's also nice that the gym doesn't share with another resort like Ship Shape does. But, you're close enough to BC/YC to stroll over if you want a bite to eat.

Less than one month from our annual BWV trip. Getting excited. :). That is all!

Are you trying any new places to eat and have you booked YS?

Don't be nervous, BWI is a wonderful resort. DW and I have stayed there many times. We think it is a great place for an adult visit. We love the theming and the vibe of the boardwalk.

Wishing you a magical trip!

BC is great for the pool but we prefer BWI when staying near Epcot.

Thanks for the positive feedback on BWI. I'm looking forward to exploring the information and pictures in this forum.

Just a couple of questions: In early December I will have a one bedroom Boardwalk Villa. It is my ultimate favorite room. Have these rooms been recently renovated? If I try to get the top floor, will I be disturbed with people working on the roof right above me? Will I be able to peacefully take an afternoon nap?

Also .... How late can I use the pool ? I really, REALLY, love to use the pool right before bedtime, it helps me relax and wind down from a busy day in the parks. However, last time I was there, 2 years ago, the pool closed at 9 pm, and I only got 5 minutes in the pool. I was not able to use the pool for my entire vacation unless I got back from the parks extra early. Do you think I might be able to use the pool around 11 pm?

Thanks In Advance !
