Can I ask what is the Yuletide Fantasy Tour?

It's a tour of the Mk and Epcot..which also goes behind the scenes to show how all of the holiday decor is put together...it also includes a visit to a resort (I'm guessing the GF) ..including a treat..it's always about the food...lol...and a holiday keepsake too....sounds like fun..we have decided to do this this year instead of MVMCP....Hoping it's as nice as it sounds......I will def come back and report about it!

I have family there; the parks are closed and everyone seems to be doing fine. Saw some video of wind blowing trees and its gray/cloudy/raining but otherwise all seems well. There have been activities and characters in the lobby to work on keeping kids entertained.

Thanks for letting us all know how everyone is faring at the world.... Sound like they are doing their best to keep folks occupied...and safe...

Hey Blue... It's nice to "see" you! I've been planning a trip for February again for dd's cheer competition but BW is not in the cards unfortunately.

The Yuletide Tour sounds like fun. Hope you enjoy it. I'll be waiting to read all about it when you return.

Got here to BWI about an hour ago. Walked over from Swan, where we were last night. Weather is really nothing more than the worse of one of the summer afternoon thunderstorms.

Anyway, lobby was packed when we walked in, about 11:00 or so. Long lines. But they are fully staffed at check-in, every counter spot manned. Line moved fast and we were in our room by 11:20

Chip and Dale showed up to play. Activity CM had stuff out for the kids to play with

Food choices are identical buffet at Flying Fish and Tratorria from noon to 4:00. They are undecided on what dinner options will be

My son works as a gardener at the MK. He was told yesterday to report today at 6PM (instead of his usual 3AM time) to begin clean up. Then he will probably work right through his Saturday morning shift (4AM to noon).

That will certainly be a long shift for him. I am always amazed at the work those people do -- even under normal circumstances. Thank him for us. We don't see the work being done, but very much appreciate the results.

We will arrive at WDW on Sunday. Staying first night at the Polynesian in a bungalow. (We snagged a last minute cancellation using DVC points!)
Hopefully, Matthew will be out to sea.

Super excited!!
Staying at the Polynesian in a bungalow for one night. We snagged a last minute cancellation.
We are DVC members and I know that this was a LOT of points, I figure that we'll never get another chance to stay there.
Then we are off to the Boardwalk for one night and finally the Grand Floridian.
Lots of resort hopping, but glad to be able to get these resorts for a last minute planned vacation.

Very happy that Matthew is off to sea.
Thoughts and prayers to those still affected by this storm.

Thanks for the kind thoughts. He actually wound up reporting for work around 1:45PM and was able to come home to sleep before going to work this morning. He said the mess he had to clean up was no worse than a regular heavy rainstorm.

Wow....some of you may have seen a few of my panicking posts regarding the ambiguity of views with regards to Boardwalk View-Club level. I did send an email expressing my concerns and this is what I got back. Gotta love your IPO!

I have also had them add notes regarding specific views, and possible room numbers. This way, you should not have any challenges at check in! We are staying in a 1br villa, standard view. I am trying to get a room request set and I've read and researched and I'm just not sure. I want to say "top floor", becausebut besides that I'm not sure if there's anything else to say. By the looks of it, there's not much variety of standard views. Just along one side of the south bldg and the little end has a few facing another direction. Any suggestions if I should add anything to my request? Thanks in advance!

Are you staying on a cash reservation, or using ponts? That will make a difference in what a "standard view" is.

We stayed at BWI for DD's HS graduation in 2013. It was perfect. She wore her graduation mortar board mickey ears all over and was congratulated everywhere. It was great fun for her. She also scored a nice celebration dessert at Via Napoli -- complete with a song by the wait staff -- which was a really nice touch. You'll have a terrific celebration -- can't beat BWI's location.

Thank you Sandi! Of course after trying to change it for about 15 minutes I just called in my son, and he accomplished it in 15 seconds! Sorry about Sparty this year. As you can probably tell from my user name I'm a Hokie so we're having a great year so far in the year 1 A.F. (after Frank).

We love the Boardwalk! We have stayed on the Inn side many times. One time we splurged and took advantage of a bounce back offer to stay in a 1BR Villa. We got a great room, looking out over the Pool. (And no, the Clown Face didn't bother us.) We like the theming and the "smaller" feel of the Boardwalk. We liked getting ice cream on the Boardwalk and just sitting and watching the world go by. But the big plus for us is the proximity to Epcot. Being able to just wander over to Epcot in the evening is quite special. Whether it is for dinner, a snack, watch Illuminations, or just to stroll through the countries. Quite wonderful.

Yes, now that the kids are a little older proximity to MK is not that important. We too look forward to being so close to Epcot and all it has to offer. Like lots of great food!

Hello!
I am new to this thread and have not stayed at BWI or BWV as of yet. We stayed at the BC our past 2 stays (Aug. 2015 and Aug. 2016). We do love it there but I would like to try a new deluxe resort. I am hoping to book BWI for our Aug. 2017 trip. We will be celebrating my daughter's 21st birthday and I was thinking that would be the perfect location. It's possible we may do a split stay and head to the Poly after our BWI stay.
I look forward to reading through this thread and chatting with everyone!

Cash reservation through Disney Reservation Center for BWV standard notation means pool/garden view usually.
