Resort Thread Disney's BOARDWALK INN Resort

I am so excited! This will be our 5th WDW trip in 4 years, but our FIRST bringing family. We'll be staying in three rooms at BWI 11/30-12/5 (2016). DH's sister has Down Syndrome and is a gem in our family, and she is a huge, huge Disney, Disney Princess, and Star Wars fan. It will be her first trip, and she and the rest of the family is flying flying down from Alaska (we're in NY) for a 5 day trip. This will be our first stay at BWI. We've done GF, CR, and BC, and we'll never stay anywhere other than Epcot resorts from now on. Hoping the weather is good so my boys can use the pool (all of the news stories about creepy clown sightings around the country always makes me think of the pool!), and also hoping that the pixie dust falls pretty heavily on our stay so my SIL has memories for a lifetime.

Like some Ronzoni pasta? :rotfl2::rotfl:

Ha ha! Fettuccine works best!!

Okay, Okay... POOL noodles!:D

You guys crack me up! I'm picturing a bed full of fusilli.

I will be at BWV Nov. 14-19!

Welcome and I'll add your dates to the BoardWalk Bulletin:)

I check into BWV tomorrow. After my disappointment with the Poly I'm hoping for the Boardwalk renovations don't spoil things further.

How was your stay, @TraceyL?

Haven't received a survey on our stay at BWI. Got one within the first week home on our previous 2 stays. Guess they are tired of hearing the negative stuff.

That reminded me that I did a 3-way split last month and did get a survey for CR and YC, but not for GF.

We just upgraded from CBR to Boardwalk Villas by renting points. Trying to get all the info I can here on this thread! There's a lot of great information here.

Welcome to the thread, @glennsgirl762 and let us know if you have any questions.

We'll be back for Marathon Weekend in just a few months and with the Disney Visa Discount, upgraded to CL. Yay! We've stayed BWI CL three times before (and I stayed non-CL with a friend last year for a conference.) Our kids have been loving Poly and WL lately, but I'm running Dopey and made an executive decision to return to BWI CL. :)

Super-duper upgrade!

Marlene 10-10-2016 BWV GV

Welcome, Marlene!

Until what date are you at BWV, @mcarr1635?

I returned last night from a week at Grand Floridian (4 nights) and BWI (3 nights). This trip was my Aunt (a young 71) and myself. While we enjoyed our room at GF (Conch Key with a view of the marina), the *magic* happened for us at BWI!! I have lurked often on this and the GF thread, but didn't pay much attention to any Club Level posts -- why torture myself, right?!!!

When we checked in, we were offered a (paid) upgrade to Club Level!! The price was right and we jumped on it!!

The entire experience was bliss (but those of you who have stayed CL there already know that!! ;)) The real reason for this post is that today (Sunday, October 2) -- one day too late for our stay -- they are rolling out a "new" food service! Those of you with upcoming stays will have to post what actually occurs, but I was told there will now be a Bloody Mary Bar; expanded mid-day options; and a chef for the 5-7pm food service (AKL's Club Level has done that for over a year and it's marvelous!)

So I am officially jealous of any of you with upcoming CL stays!!

Also, the construction this past week has been limited to the courtyard by the cottages. There were 3 cranes there. They fired up the cranes and got to work at 9am each morning and were done by 5pm. Although our balcony faced that courtyard, as long as our balcony door was closed the noise didn't bother us. We were in room 4240, right around the corner from the Lounge.

Very interesting news and thanks so much for letting everyone know about the upcoming Innkeeper's Club changes. Do you think you will book CL for your next stay?

So....I had the BWI, Deluxe Club level MYW package, 5 day park hopper passes booked for 1/25/17-1/30/17, total cost $5,036.00. I called in to see if there were any discounts available. I sat on hold for 45 minutes and got through to Nathaniel.

The current booking isn't available for any discount. However, the Boardwalk view, club level is available for the discount. After much hemming and hawing, I made the switch. After doing the math, I realized the $1200.00 saved actually paid for the 5 day park hopper passes and our airfare! I couldn't pass it up. Yes, our room will be 200 square feet smaller but we'll still be on the 4th floor club level and should have a good view of the Boardwalk. He said he noted on the reservation requesting a room in the middle of the boardwalk, hoping for the most boardwalk view possible. I am disappointed to give up the bigger room but hubby has no idea of what we had, so he'll just think what I ended up booking is great anyway:love2:. I was so excited to get the Deluxe Club booked, as there are only 8 rooms in that category. Ok...enough...I'm looking forward, not backward! $$$$ talks!!!!!

DH will never notice the 200 SF difference, even if he had known about it. The $1200 though... Did you guys need the sleeper sofa?

When staying at BWV, if you have an Amazon Prime or Amazon Now order delivered does it go to the convention center shipping center and you have to pay a handling fee? I've seen some mixed answers on this.

I've been hearing that the Amazon Now orders go to Bell Services or if its perishable.

This is going to be a trip full of wonderful memories. You'll definitely need to purchase PhotoPass. Are you going to request adjoining rooms?

Please check-in with us if you can and we'd love some photos!

Nah, I just wanted to try the Deluxe Club. I'm a little concerned as to what I may have given up relative to view and balcony. Boardwalk Inn Gardens isn't the "Boardwalk". The Boardwalk Club room description sez view of Boardwalk Inn Gardens, Crescent Lake or Boardwalk. Also, really need a good sized balcony. I'm a huge balcony sitter...all hours of the day and night. Gonna be a long 113 days wondering......:fish:

I thought you booked a BWV which to me meant, well, a BWV, but I just checked the Disney booking site and you're right. They say a BWV CL room can have a BWI Garden View or BWV and it says a Standard CL room can have a pool view or a BWV. This makes no sense!

:wave2: I have a question.

The good news is that I just booked a week at the Boardwalk with the Visa discount. My twelfth resort, first Epcot resort.

The bad news is that the latest flight home is sold out. I'm currently booked on a 2:30 Southwest flight. I have a 9:40 Crystal Palace reservation. Is my pickup time likely to be 11:30? Is that cutting it too close?

I feel as though I just wrote a word problem for a math test. Sorry!

What is the visa discount??

What is the visa discount??

I think it's the same discount that's now available to everyone. I ended up getting the Stay, Play, and Dine even though I swore I would never ever do the dining plan. I believe it's basically 25% off the room. I travel solo so I think it may be harder to compare regular rate, but I was very happy and glad I was able to book 9/28 with the Visa discount because my understanding is that rooms are very limited.

Welcome, Marlene!

We are at the Polynesian on 10-9; Boardwalk on 10-10; and Grand Floridian 10-11 and 10-12.
First time to resort hop, but this was a last minute plan and I was glad to get these resorts for the location.
We could have had Saratoga Springs all 4 nights, but we wanted to be closer to the parks.

Got it:)

To everyone traveling in the next few days and those already down there, please stay safe.

We're 9 days away and I'm keeping an eye on the one forecast that has Matthew looping around and heading back toward Florida.

Just booked a BWV studio room for June 8 - June 14. Celebrating son's high school graduation. We haven't been to WDW in 7 years! We became hooked on Disney cruises instead. Wife wanted to go to Turks & Caicos, but I convinced the kids (DS - 18, and DD - 12) that it was time for us to go back to WDW. 3 on 1 - we won! 246 days - can't wait to stay at BWV. We've done Poly, Wilderness Lodge, and Contemporary, but never Boardwalk. Looks like a great location and great resort. Looking forward to learning more about it, and to returning to WDW!!

Ok experts! Having huge second thoughts about Boardwalk Inn/Boardwalk view-club level. You may have noticed a ways back that Boardwalk "View" apparently can also mean Boardwalk Inn Gardens, as well as Crescent Lake. Who would have thunk that Boardwalk view could mean more then just a plain old Boardwalk View...which is what I want! I understand Boardwalk view/club level rooms are all on the 4th (club) floor. What the heck are Boardwalk Inn Gardens? I want to look over the Boardwalk, which clearly should include Crescent Lake. Has anyone who has stayed in this category room ever gotten anything but an actual real view of the Boardwalk? No stinkin' Gardens for me! Those that have stayed in Boardwalk View-club level, please share what you saw outside your balcony. TIA

That is a crazy description on the website! We've stayed CL at BWI three times, but always booked standard (this is before the Boardwalk View CL category existed.)

Once, we had a direct view of the Boardwalk. Another trip, were upgraded to a 2-bedroom CL suite and our view was the interior courtyard - entirely a garden view. But then another time, we had a corner room with a huge balcony and a view of BOTH the Boardwalk and the courtyard/garden area on the Boardwalk. KOOK has some photos from our stay and if I remember correctly, from one of her own stays also. If the description on the website meant a view of the boardwalk AND gardens, that would make sense. But it says "or," and it would make no sense to pay for a Boardwalk view and get a completely garden view.

As for the views, I also prefer a Boardwalk view, but really enjoyed our garden view too. My husband absolutely prefers garden because it's so quiet. For our upcoming marathon weekend, I booked standard CL and will take our chances - either we get a Boardwalk view or we get the garden view that my husband loves and will allow me to get the sleep necessary to wake up crazy early for races four days in a row. But we paid for standard, not boardwalk view, so that's entirely different.

I'd e-mail or call IPO to ask about the deal with the booking category.

I agree about calling the IPO. I think it has to be an error, but that's just my opinion. They need to know about this.
I remember when they went to Boardwalk View as a separate booking category for CL. It was meant to be just as it sounds, Boardwalk view. Which nearly everyone, understandably, was requesting when booking Standard CL. ::yes::

And how do I change that darn ticker?

Here is a link to make a new ticker: http://www.distickers.com/ticker/main.php
After you make it, you'll click on your name in the upper right of this page (or any DisBoard page you're on) and go to "signature."

We stayed at BWI for DD's HS graduation in 2013. It was perfect. She wore her graduation mortar board mickey ears all over and was congratulated everywhere. It was great fun for her. She also scored a nice celebration dessert at Via Napoli -- complete with a song by the wait staff -- which was a really nice touch. You'll have a terrific celebration -- can't beat BWI's location.

We love the Boardwalk! We have stayed on the Inn side many times. One time we splurged and took advantage of a bounce back offer to stay in a 1BR Villa. We got a great room, looking out over the Pool. (And no, the Clown Face didn't bother us.) We like the theming and the "smaller" feel of the Boardwalk. We liked getting ice cream on the Boardwalk and just sitting and watching the world go by. But the big plus for us is the proximity to Epcot. Being able to just wander over to Epcot in the evening is quite special. Whether it is for dinner, a snack, watch Illuminations, or just to stroll through the countries. Quite wonderful.

Congratulations to your son and wishing you all magical vacation!
