Resort Thread Disney's BOARDWALK INN Resort

That sounds great and I hope a nice AP or FL Res. rate comes out for you.

Thanks for all the fun photos. Maybe CP is so in-demand they have no issue cancelling those ADRs up to the last minute?

Thank you for posting about you location and you won't be far away at BC:)

Thanks for posting about your breakfast and dinner. Being wet, in AC, in shorts, during dinner is the worst. Looks like FEA is shut-down as much as TT:sad2:

I saw @oceanmarina's photo and laughed because I have the exact same photo sitting on my desktop. I had been posting some photos to the GF thread a while back and this is from 8/15:

I know it's just a rumor, but if true, everyone can complain afterwards that the new pool lacks theming, just as they complain about the CR Mickey pool!

Those summer storms can be really bad. Were they all mostly in the late afternoon? Thanks again for all your fun LIVE photos!

I think those are the lights for MNSSHP? I can understand how you feel. Do you think you might start missing it once you're home for a while?

We enjoyed all your photos and LIVE update - thanks!!

Congratulations on booking, @Denamac and welcome to the thread! I'm bumping your request question...

Glad you were moved, but yeesh, they should not be putting guests near this work. They need to take all these rooms out of inventory. Guests shouldn't have to go back to the front desk to ask to be moved from a WZV (War Zone View). How is everything now?

The Disney booking website now classifies a BWV as facing the pool? At BWI, a pool view is a Standard View room. The only bookable water view rooms face Crescent Lake and are a BoardWalk View. At least this is how it always used to be classified.

Welcome @Uncle Donald Wess! I'll log your dates:)

Glad you're having a great vacation, @gardengirl628.

Bumping your question, @KimAB...

That is a tough call since you don't know exactly what that area will be like when you check-in. Maybe "away from construction," "high floor?"

Hi Wdwkook,

Yes a lot of the thunderstorms were I. The afternoon especially around 5pm.

I'm wondering the sane thing on terms of missing Disney. I might have booked a Bounceback "just in case" I changed my mind about returning summer, but the monorail resorts were excluded (for villas) so I didn't bother booking it since I wanted to stay on that side next time I stayed. So that clinched it for me - I didn't book anything.

The other thing that I really disliked about BWI was not having a decent quick service option - especially traveling with two kids who wanted fries and chicken nuggets. I'd have to walk to beach club and back to bring my kids lunch - not fun in the heat of august.

At any rate I will be there 4/3-4/11!! I have never stayed here before!! Stayed CBR and POR last 2 trips. I have not stayed in a deluxe resort since I was a child!!

Welcome to the DIS and the BWI/BWV thread, @KimAB. It's going to feel like your first Deluxe stay and there might not be any going back;). I'll log your dates in POST 1:)

I know you want a villa in the MK area, but have you considered a FW Cabin? They've been recently rehabbed and are really large and nice with full kitchens and a separate bedroom and you're close to the MK. Also, would adding CL next time be a possibility? Then the kids would have food, beverages and snacks just steps away.

I thought this sounded like fun and I'll actually be staying at the BC that day so I can walk right over. I didn't RSVP since I'm not registered on FB, but I do plan on attending. Anyone else who might attend?

Deb's events are always so much fun! Have a great time! You'll meet lots of DISers there! (I missed this one by less than 2 weeks - darn it!!) :sad1:

Good luck with that FP........ We received our email that ours was cancelled within 15 minutes of when it started. Luckily we had decided to forego walking into EPCOT just to ride it (would have been really ticked if we arrived and found it closed, then had to walk back to BWI and drive home)

:headache:....sorry that you didn't get to ride it....glad though that you found out before you headed over there!

I'm excited, too. Only 3 more sleeps. I have a couple of FPP for FEA, so I'm hopeful it's working for at least one of those times. My DD thinks it's funny that I occasionally check my TouringPlans App all the way from Michigan just to see if FEA is operational.

Any way you slice it, a day at WDW is better than a day at work . . . to which I must return right now.

:dance3:Almost time! and I couldn't agree more!

Enjoy your trips @BlueSkies and @Sandi !!:flower1: Won't be long now.

Dh and I are actually headed down this Sunday for 3 nights but are staying at Sports to save money since we just spent a boat load on our July trip last month.:-) This will be primarily to check out neighborhoods in central Florida. Since dh retired this year we are seriously thinking about moving down there next year. Fingers crossed.... Only doing Disney Springs and maybe BW one night after we drop the rental off at the Dolphin.

Thanks Mexi! :goodvibes...Enjoy your quick trip..hope that the move works out...that truly is livin the dream!!! :thumbsup2

At any rate I will be there 4/3-4/11!! I have never stayed here before!! Stayed CBR and POR last 2 trips. I have not stayed in a deluxe resort since I was a child!!

You are in for a treat...Have a magical trip! :wizard:

Just wanted to say that I really enjoyed catching up and reading all of your trip posts! :goodvibes As for the chicken nuggets and fries..I know a staple...especially for little ones on vacation...surprised that they did not offer them at the "To Go" Kiosk on the BW...( I think thats what its called...lol...)

Since its always about the food.....lol...
We had a very delicious dinner at Trattoria al Forno last trip....and would like to have breakfast there too..but also considering Captains's Grille....anyone have a comparison...or feed back on what would be preferable...

Yep, Boardwalk to Go -- we got stuff from there a few times in June. Here is their menu:

Btw, @oceanmarina, thanks so much for all of the photos and updates while you were there!

I've had breakfast at Captain's Grille a couple of times and really liked it (once got the buffet, the other time just ordered off the menu since I wasn't super hungry). I've only had dinner at Trattoria al Forno, but I've read some good things about their breakfast. Probably can't go wrong with either.

I prefer (but only slightly!) the Trattoria breakfast! Both restaurants are on our list for breakfasts AND dinner; and Captain's Grille has a very nice lunch also!

Here's the menu for Trattoria (this hasn't been updated since last December though so there may be a change or two):

HI! Not sure if anyone would know an answer to my question but I figured if anyone would know it would be here! We have two rooms booked and want adjoining rooms (I know they are not guaranteed) but one of the rooms is a handicap accessible room with a roll in shower and then a regular room. Are these rooms even in the same area? We have small kids and I would love if my moms room was adjoining so we could go out a few nights on our own and not disrupt the kids. Thanks for any info!!

This is something we are planning on soon as well (checking out housing when we move) keep us updated Mexi !!!!

Glad you were moved, but yeesh, they should not be putting guests near this work. They need to take all these rooms out of inventory. Guests shouldn't have to go back to the front desk to ask to be moved from a WZV (War Zone View). How is everything now?

Hey Kook...
We ended up having to be moved again but this time to an entirely different resort .

Long story short, our new room had a strong musty smell and we noticed the carpet was damp. I mentioned it to the front desk when we headed out for the night and by the time we got back it was very late and the room smelled exactly the same. Went to bed & needless to say, my youngest DD woke up a short while later with a full blown asthma attack (she has allergy induced asthma) and we were up with her all night.

The very next morning, I returned to the front desk to speak to a manager. I will say this, in all of our Disney stays, we found management at BWI to be top notch! They tried to find us another room but unfortunately one of them (a few doors down from ours) had the same issue. The other, didn't smell but was smack in the middle of the "war zone" and the third, a 1BR villa, was so far away that it didn't make sense to take it. At that point we asked to be moved back to BC but were told it was sold out so they offered us GF and we took it for our last two nights.

What did we learn on this trip? No more split stays when we travel together as a family and never travel without packing DD's nebulizer.

I'm just grateful we were able to control her breathing with her inhaler and not have to make a trip to celebration hospital!

Hey guys do any of you have an idea of what updates are going to be put in the BWI pool? and what is the history of the clown slide?

I'm so sorry to hear about all these problems. I'm glad your dd is fine now. My 2 oldest (17,19 now) have asthma so I know how scary that can be. I agree about the management at the BWI and I'm happy they were able to move you.

Thanks so much for the feedback! :goodvibes ...we are relatively new to the Epcot resorts...and enjoy resort dining..CG for lunch..another good idea! ::yes::

Touring Plans site does have a room finder..and they do show the HA rooms too...and yes..there are HA and standard rooms in the same area....But I would be sure that you have requested a HA room with an adjoining/ or connecting standard room also....:thumbsup2..Hope that it all works out!

So sorry that that happened to your DD mommyrosa.....I did see your post on the GF thread..and that you got to end your trip in a grand way...Glad that our DD is ok..and that it all worked out... :goodvibes

Thanks to you too Music City Mama for the feed back...:goodvibes My DH enjoys a breakfast buffet..(non character...lol..)...me not so much..so that sounds like a very nice fit for us..We like the Wave for breakfast for that very same reason....they have a nice buffet..and regular menu too ( oh those key lime eggs benedict!! .. yum!!)...We love our WDW vacations...still..its always about the food...lol...::yes::

If you do online check in, does the resort text you your room number? If so how far in does that happen?
Yes they do text you the number (assuming they don't need you to stop at the desk for some reason) but not until your room is ready on checkin day

We are in a 1 Bed at BWV, does anyone know if this will be "warzone" , should I be ok or it will be a toss up?

Rosa so sorry that happened. So glad you were able to get her out of there.

We noticed a musty/damp smell in our room too. I've read about this smell in several trip advisor reviews.

I agree BWI management was excellent.

When are you guys heading home? Safe travels back home.
