Resort Thread Disney's BOARDWALK INN Resort

Checking into a 2brd garden/pool view villa on 8/23, excited to stay at BWV for first time, nervous about all this construction talk. I've done online check in and requested upper floor, near elevator. Best Choices???

Staying at BWI in Oct for a couple of nights on a split stay(standard). I'm a little confused regarding the refurbishment going on. It appears from room pictures I have seen that the BWV refurbishments are complete and the rooms look good. The room pictures for BWI don't look as nice. Have the rooms been updated/refurbished? Can you request a refurbished room if refurbishment has not been completed throughout the resort?

Yes the BWI guest room soft good refresh is complete. The current work on the BWI side is all outside painting, awning repair / replacement and is scheduled to be complete this month.

Hi @WDWKOOK ! I just booked additional nights at BWV for March 7-12 since our dream of AKL CL fell thru. I'm going to waitlist it, but I'm still happy with staying at BWV. Here's a question though, when I stayed at BLT we were on the ground floor & really liked the convenience of not having to wait for the elevators. I've read other PPs saying that staying on the 1st floor, you still need to take the elevator to get anywhere. does that mean 2nd floor/lobby level is the "ground floor"? We've never checked out the BWV on previous trips, so sorry for the rookie questions. if it helps, I've booked standard view 1 bdrm on my DVC points. another PP suggested higher floor to lessen exposure to "luggage cart" noise. yikes, is that a point of concern?

It's a yes and no. It's pretty unavoidable to use the elevators or stairs at some times. The lobby is on the second floor, as you've guessed. There is an entrance to the villas on the first floor by the clown pool, but not sure if it has access to all of the first floor rooms. We were on the second floor once with a boardwalk view, and being on the second floor was very convenient for the lobby and the main stairs out to the boardwalk. (There are other stairs out to some exits from the villa side as well.) in terms of the noise, the standard view faces the port cochere (the drive up entrance) and the side all along the parking lot and tennis courts, and some green areas. People like requesting close to elevators, which puts them right by the entrance and therefore right by the car and bus and luggage noise. I've seen people say requesting across from the bus stop is a good request for standard view on the villas side, since it's still somewhat close to the elevators, but not too close. :).

Hi all,

Just had the most magic experience - watching Star Wars fireworks on my balcony - I could hear all the music too
pixiedust:

The room is ok - definitely seems much smaller than the 1 bedroom villas at bay lake, kidani and wilderness lodge villas

When I was walking through the villas I saw they had a block of rooms they were working on and heard sawing etc, but luckily I'm on the fifth floor and it seems pretty quiet here. :D
I had touring plans do my room request - and I love my room so I would definitely recommend it.

The only complaints I have about the room are a few things broken - even though they just had a refurb

Looks like blood on the rug - just gross
The bath handle broke off in my hand and the broken tile in the bathroom. So as a first time guest in BWV I would say the room is ok - but definitely needs improvement. Scores below other one bedroom villas we have stayed in.

Can't best the location - walking distance to two parks!

Will update more tomorrow :flower1:

Thanks for posting all the pics. :) I hope more are coming! I agree with @WDWKOOK , you should definitely report it to a manager at the front desk!

Welcome to the thread, @mlittig! I'll add your dates to POST 1. Did you book a one bedroom?

:woohoo: Thanks for the welcome, WDWKOOK :thanks: I travel solo so I booked a preferred view studio with fingers crossed for a boardwalk view :cool1: From what I have read here, it sounds like a Village Green view would be a good alternative :flower1:

Hi all,

Just wanted to update.

Wdwkook - yep we saw a bunch of scuba divers while we were eating at coral reef - they were very entertaining! Some looked quite young - early teens. I was very impressed.

I called maitinence and the "front desk" (although I know it's generally a call center.
I told them I was really disappointed about things broken in the room. Luckily all was repaired when we got back to the room in the afternoon.

We spent the whole day at Epcot. Surface of the sun blazing hot. My ds had a meltdown, DH was annoyed, the reel feel temperature was 107.

Breakfast at Garrden Grill

Did nemo & soarin again. (Saw a huge tour group go past is into soarin, luckily we had fast pass)

Saw a friend
image.jpg
Then off to Mexico, one of my favorite rides
image.jpg

Then off to Anna & Elsa meet & greet

We were do fried after that we swam in the quiet pool.

Yep work going on all around the grounds todsy by the big pool and was noisy.

image.jpg
image.jpg
They were doing cement work, paths were blocked off so you had to walk around. Noisy and annoying. The fact that this work is going on when everything was supposed to be done by late spring really annoyes me considering the deluxe prices... Sigh

We were so exhausted we called and cancelled our dinner ressie at crystal palace

We instead hung out by the quiet pool for a few hours and headed back to the magic kingdom at 7pm

Had a quick service pizza dinner at pinochios
(Capri flat bread pizza) it was ok - nowhere near as good as the flatbreads at roaring forks at wilderness lodge.
image.jpg

MK was really packed We has a fast pass for 7DMT - but it was down for a few hours, never got to ride

Did pirates and then it started pouring after spectromagic so headed home on the bus. I'm planning a pool day after breakfast. Will update more about the work going on.

Hi! We're doing a last minute trip to the BWI CL August 28-30. Then back at the BWV October 10-12 to celebrate my big (40th) birthday! Can't wait :)

Yippee for two trips! I'll log your dates, @kpm76.

Your trip is coming up soon! I'm going to leave two-bedroom suggestions to the BWV experts. Sounds like you're staying on a cash reservation?

Another solo traveler:). Do you have any general advice or tips for a first-time solo Disney traveler, @mlittig?

Great that everything was repaired the same-day and to your satisfaction. I was holding my breath a bit when I read that you called:scared:. Others have also suggested mentioning the state of the room in a member survey. I assume those are for guests staying on points? If you're not on points, it wouldn't hurt to mention it in a quick email to Guest Communications when you get home.

Sounds like you had a really full day of activity. Just curious, how were you able to cancel CP less than 24 hours out? I was able once to cancel just a few hours prior to an Epcot ADR when a huge storm blew in which shut-down boat transportation and even the monorail temporarily. I assumed they were flexible due to the weather conditions.

I love the lame Rio del Tiempo boat ride, too! The only wait I've ever had for it was once at Christmas. Crashing into all the boats at the end makes it extra exciting. And, since I'm going solo, my poor family won't have to endure it.

Speaking of the MSEP, it has been reported that its final show at WDW will be 9 October.

Thanks for reporting LIVE and have a magical day, @oceanmarinapixiedust:

@oceanmarina :wave2: hi! Just wanted to tell you I'm enjoying your live updates! We have our first stay at BWV in early December so I've been lurking on this thread for a bit. Did you enjoy Coral Reef? My DD8 picked it for her special dinner night, I haven't been there since the late 80's! Thank you for taking the time to post pics during your trip. Hope the rest of your vaca is awesome!

Booked a one bedroom Boardwalk villa today for Marathon weekend. My sister is doing her first 10k, so I wanted some celebrating space. She's had a rough time training, so it will really be an accomplishment when she completes it. Really hoping there are some discounts out before then, but going either way.

Hi guys,

Wdwkook - oddly enough when I wend on MDE to cancel crystal palace (I was looking for the # to call and cancel, the cancel reservation link was still working even though it was hours away from the ressie, I guess it was a fluke)

Loved it - it was our second best meal so far! Cinderkelly I would book it as it is a harder ADR to get. My DD 8 and DS11 loved it, the food was fantastic and we all loved watching the tanks.

So yesterday we decided to do a close breakfast at Cape May - just a short 10 minute walk to the beach club.

So after a nice breakfast we decided to hang out at the pool - I was still exhausted from yesterday. Unfortunately lots of noisy work going around

Ah well, so much for being to relax while you are by the pool.

We hung out at the pool till it was time for our family photo shoot at beach Ckub with the photographer Randy Chapman (heard about him through here) What a great guy and anazing photographer. He was so good with getting my kids to take pictures - and my kids hate taking pictures, my DD was pissy because we left the pool to take pictures but Randy got her smiling! I loved his creative poses and angels. He showed me some on his camera and I was really impressed. I wanted to get pictures for my Christmas card and from what I can see I will have a lot to choose from. The cd gets mailed to me in 2 weeks. I would use him again in a heartbeat - plus he was a far better deal than the Disney photography package. Thanks MomyRosa for recommending him!!

So after our great photo shoot off to Narcroosees at the Grand Floridian for dinner
As we were walking a big rainstorm started
, the lightning was so bad, the boats could not run for an half hour .0

Time for dinner..

Decided to skip magic kingdom - the price if overdoing it on your first full day of the trip. Classic mistake I always make.

Had to continue here as I couldn't post any more than 10 pics..

One more dessert picture from Narcroosesimage.jpg

So back to the boardwalk.
image.jpg

Wanted to play some carnival games - you need cash for this - my kids really loved it and we won cute stuffed animals.

image.jpg

It was cooler thanks to the rainstorm earlier
image.jpg

And then back to my room - did I mention how much I love watching the Star Wars fireworks from my balcony?

Will update again later, Marina

Can anyone tell me if Boardwalk has its own Tervis tumbler in their shop? I have seen other resort ones on the shop Disney app but I didn't see one for Boardwalk.

We are wrapping up our stay and really loved the BWI. Our room is on the 2nd floor very near the lounge and I think it's the best location possible! Booked a bounce back free dining for Beach Club though because it was just a little less and we will try something new.
A lot of painting going on here but we have noticed little to no noise even at the pool.
