Resort Thread Disney's BOARDWALK INN Resort

I don't mind the standard view studios at all. As long as you can stay away from the ones right up front, over the luggage loading area, they are fine. The grounds are nicely landscaped, and I enjoy watching people come and go.

Agreed. I don't do room requests, and just enjoy a new room as a part of the surprise. Last year, i was on the ground floor, close to the big tree and fountain in the front. It was a convenient walk to the parking lot to get our car and the shade view with the tree was nice.

When we rented, there was only a standard view studio available. In your experience is it possible to upgrade at check in? I'm not looking for a free upgrade--- I would gladly pay--- I just don't particularly care to be overlooking the parking lot or something on our highly romantic anniversary! haha!
.

Probably not likely, but you can ask. The DVC rooms are based on points, and the other two BWV categories are preferred and Boardwalk. Since you booked standard category, it would be more points to move you to a different category.

You can make a room request. As I posted above, I didn't think I would like that parking lot/ fountain/ front yard view. But, it was actually kinda nice. Happy anniversary and have a great trip.

Absolutely NOT. You paid for a standard view - you should have a contract stating the amount you paid and the fact that you wanted a standard view studio. DVC is NOT a hotel in the sense you're used to. Any room that you might consider to be an "upgrade" would be significantly more points that what you've paid for -- and you CANNOT (note: I'm not saying 'should not' or 'it would be ill advised' I'm saying it is impossible to) change rooms without taking extra points from the owner's account without permission. You would be, to put it bluntly, stealing from them. While you could have paid cash for a room in the Boardwalk Villas (assuming there were any rooms that owners hadn't rented,) you did not go that route and cannot mix-and-match points and cash to pay for a room.

You could try to renegotiate with the owner regarding your current contract.

Having said that, I have found that asking for "far away from the elevators" will often get me (down a long hallway, it's true) a view of grass, trees, and a nice little water feature. If I stretch my head around the balcony wall I might see the beginning of the parking area, but I'm short and don't usually have the energy to go to that much trouble after a day in the park. ;)

Ok, that's the question I didn't even know I was asking but wanted to know the answer to. Haha! That sums it up. No mix and match cash and points! Got it!

Thank you everyone for the input -- Since last time I checked with the renter there is still no other availability, so I am going to enjoy what we booked. It sounds like it is still pretty no matter where. And I mean we are at Disney so whatever!

I think I should not have looked at that thread that was popular a while back that was something like the worst view rooms. After seeing some of those pics (not even necessarily BWV specifically), I started getting nervous! Too much research can be a bad thing!

Can anyone tell me if the Village Green large balconies ( Studios ) are on the 3rd or 4th floor? Or if anyone has pics. I'd be much appreciative, T.I.A.

I know I saw a whole discussion on this a while back, but can't for the life of me remember where.:confused3:surfweb:

Village Green Studios (preferred garden/water views) are on the second, third, fourth and fifth floors.

106 days out... Not particularly an exciting milestone, but I'm in obsessing mood today! This will be our first stay at BWV. We rented points, and I have a question for those of you in the know!

Just curious really being that its the DVC side of things and I imagine that there isn't much flexibility.

You cannot pay for an upgrade and you cannot request an upgrade. With a DVC booking, you get what you booked, unless you are assigned the last one available and it must be taken out of service because of maintenance issues. Standard view villas look out over the front of the resort, the entrance and parking lot with the grassy lawn between. Just request a higher floor and you might see Illuminations from your balcony.

Thanks..:thumbsup2 I thought they all were there, but I specifically remember seeing some pictures somewhere, with some of the balconies being so large , that you could fit like 15 people or so on them..And If I recall they were all studios too..:confused3

I can't imagine or remember if all those balconies were large on all the floors, or just a certain floor..

We had a larger balcony on the second floor (first room on the right as you go down the hallway). But it was open to the balcony where guests sit and wait for their rooms to come open. So they would sit and watch us. Kind of unnerving.

Our original trip at BWV was from 9/16 to 9/26. Well since the Food and Wine dates start right when we leave - we decided to stay an additional night and we were able to get another night at BW - BOARDWALK VIEW! Whooohoooo:cool1: Love our DVC points, basically 'click' here and 'click' there and we are in ! 11 nights total. SO only 7 months 24 days until we are back home. :cool2:

Yesterday, I finally finished updating and posting the WL/VWL thread:faint:. Come on over anytime to the new thread!

We just switched from the WL to Club level at the Boardwalk from 2/28-3/8! It will be our first time staying at the Boardwalk and staying club level, so we are pretty pumped! How long after a reservation is booked, do you usually heard from Itinerary planning? I have a few questions for them.

Thank you!!
Welcome to the thread and I'll log your dates. It seems you won't be needing the WL thread;)

Sometimes the IPO will contact you right after you book, and other times, they won't contact you until much later. Feel free to email or call them anytime after you book. Just include your reservation number and last name in the subject line.

We leave in just 2 more days and my son, his wife and one child are sick! They went to the doctor today and not the flu, just really bad coughs and cold. They all got medication, so hopefully they will be better by Friday. I now have my 5 year old granddaughter here at my house until we leave. I usually drive her to school in the mornings anyway, so figured I'd keep her away from germs as much as possible. The baby, 7 months, is at home since at my age I would be exhausted before the trip started!!!
Oh, no! Is everyone recovered by now? I hope you're having a magical vacation!

What time do the boats start running in the morning? (to get to HS)
The FB starts running about one hour prior to park opening. However, it is MUCH faster to walk to DHS from BWI.

Just switched from GF to BWI for December 11-22. Love the convenience of walking to two parks. Now, please help me figure out what to request for a standard room. Is it possible to see the high Epcot fireworks from any of these? Is it bad that I'm already counting down the days? :scratchin
Welcome and I'll add your dates to the BoardWalk Bulletin. Standard room views can be of any view except a direct BWV. The rooms on the 5th floor that face the Quiet Pool/garden area have partial Illuminations views. Just request a 5th floor room with an Epcot View and the Room Assignor will know what you mean.

thanks for the tip, but it appears I have to have a paid subscription to TouringPlans to see that feature...:confused3
The direct link is in the BWI chapter of the thread.

I FOUND IT!! It was a little tricky to find, but I did!

THANKS!!!
:thumbsup2
Glad you found it.

11 nights is awesome! I'll log your new dates.

We are here! Very exciting start to our trip, on the Magical Express Bus waiting to leave the airport when the bus started filling with smoke! All of a sudden we were evacuated because of a fire, yes flames were shooting up, on the handicap lift. The bus driver is yelling, " call 911" and my son said use the fire extinguisher! The driver finally extinguished the flames and we were moved to another bus. Glad it happened before we left the airport.

Anyway, we have 3 rooms and all are beautiful. Got great hugs from cast members and feel right at home. Ate at the new Italian place last night, not too impressed, but they are still new so will give them another chance in May. My son ordered the steak, medium well and it was just about raw. The manager came right over and offered to get him something else, but he declined. They did take the 2 appetizers we ordered off the bill for us.

Off to the Magic Kingdom and Ohana for dinner.

Glad everyone (and luggage) were alright! What type of rooms are you in?

I looked at the menu for the new place and wasn't too impressed. Was thinking of trying Flying Fish though and definitely hitting the bakery for a lobster roll if we decide to stay at BWI! :-)

Looking forward to more updates! Have a magical trip!

That's way too much excitement on arrival day, but good that your DS was quick thinking. I'm guessing crowds levels will be very low during your stay? Let us know if the lounge seems pretty empty.

It's good that you tried TaF, but maybe they have some wrinkles to iron out or maybe that will be the status quo - inconsistent quality. Say hello to Mickey for me today and have a great time at 'Ohana.

Hmmm, Yea I can see that as being a lil odd, being right there and all..

I currently have a BWV ressie with a Village Green Request, but I am waitlisted for a Studio Stan. view....I was trying to save points, but thought I might just cancel the Wait, & keep the pool/garden view....:confused3

Can anyone tell me the difference between a deluxe studio and a standard studio? TIA.

Any perks to having a Studio at BWV vs a standard room at BWI?

DVC member at BWV. Never stayed BWI.

I think it depends on what you mean as perks. A BWV studio has the sleeper couch. So, if it is just the two of you, then you have more space. If you have four people, then you can fold out up the couch daily, which again provides more space.

If you are booking a cash reservation to either, then you have daily Mousekeeping. If you rent thru DVC member, then you only have trash/towel service on your 4th night. Some like the daily service, and some like not having the CM entering the room.

The views/ booking categories are different. Standard view at BWV gets you a parking lot view. I'm not sure of all the BWI views. BWV studio gets you closer to DHS if you want to walk it. BWI gets you closer to Epcot.

There might be some other perks.

I don't think there are deluxe vs standard, are there? I think they are all called deluxe studios? Somebody correct me if I am wrong!

Do you have access to the DVC laundry room on a cash reservation?

Anyone hear anything about a refurb at BWV?

Ques.1 I dont believe so....But there are the ones over at the BWI....Oh, I thought you meant cash res. over there...I'm sure your able to use the DVC Laundry provided you pay for a cash res. STUDIO...

Quest 2. Yes I senthe an email, which they replied back saying, that nothing is being done to the pools, or grounds, just the refurb's on the rooms, which should be completed by mid August.:confused3
