Seating Added Outside the Cake Bake Shop at Disney’s BoardWalk

With just two and a half months left in 2024, more additions outside the Cake Bake Shop at Disney’s BoardWalk hint at the newest restaurant opening soon.

A building with white siding and large windows, the Cake Bake Shop boasts outdoor tables and chairs on a wooden deck reminiscent of Disney's BoardWalk. A sign is visible in the foreground.

Originally slated to open in 2023, the Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers is still under construction at the BoardWalk. However, with the recent menu installation and the latest update, it seems to be finally preparing for guests.

Seating and tables have been added outside the shop. The construction walls were removed earlier this month, allowing for a better look at the building. The Cake Bake Shop will have two parts — a bakery and a restaurant.

So far, the outdoor seating consists of several small four-top tables with matching white chairs. They are against the walls near both sides of the entrance.

The front view of the Cake Bake Shop features elegant gold lettering, surrounded by temporary white barricades, while new seating has been added. A menu is posted near the entrance under the clear skies at Disney's BoardWalk.
Planters and barricades block the entrance to prevent guests from wandering into the still-active construction site. An opening date for the Cake Bake Shop has not been announced at this time.

I could see the Bakery opening before the restaurant. Less time to work out daily process at the bakery vs getting the restaurant ready for an opening.

Will try not to mock any parents I see sitting there who bought their kids $18 buttered noodles...

Time to get that shop open… Also time to fill Big River or whatever it was called…. The Board Walk needs to start coming alive!
The old Big River Grill location is going to take time to replace I just hope it does not take as long the Cake Bake Shop once a tenet is found. Heck BRG has not even been closed a year.

I normally try to keep a more positive/balanced view of the world and I don’t really think it’s fair to judge without it even being open, but I have and continue to be in the “I don’t get it” camp with this. I’ll take the high road and say “I am glad there are lots of options for everyone’s preferences at WDW”, but this place definitely isn’t for us.
At least you didn't echo the post that said we should have our head examined! I am looking forward to the afternoon tea, have missed it being gone from the GF.

The Cake Bake Shop Hosts Private Event as Official Opening Looms

While the eatery has not officially opened, The Cake Bake Shop was operating today for a private event today!

According to the employees we talked to, today’s event was for friends, family, and “neighbors” from along the boardwalk. A sign outside of the restaurant informed pedestrians what was happening.

Hopefully, today’s private event is just the latest hint that The Cake Bake Shop will soon open its doors to all guests!

While neither Disney nor The Cake Bake Shop has announced an opening date for the BoardWalk locale, the bakery’s menu includes seasonal fall treats, including Pumpkin Spice Cinnamon Roll Cake and Pumpkin Chocolate Cake. The choice of seasonal treats would seem to indicate that the shop will open soon.

Any chance it will open this week? That says to me they have staff in place, and are serving….

We enjoy breakfast at Trattoria. Do I wish there was another option? Yes. CBS is now opening and their breakfast pricing isn't terrible compared to some other things and I'm sure my wife would like their French Toast. But I am an old school breakfast guy where I just want some eggs and sausage and fruit.

Nice they're having a lunch option though. Meatball sub is pretty high in price and somewhat like the $18 buttered noodles....unless the sub comes with a house salad.

Trattoria al Forno has the House made Meatball sub with soup is $21. For reference the Beach Club Marketplace has a Meatball sub with chips is $12.49.

I would guess that the meatballs in Trattoria are different than the marketplace, but I may be wrong.

Haven't compared.
