Resort Thread Disney's BOARDWALK INN Resort

If this turns out to be Adventurers Club II, I'm gong to be really happy

https://disneytalkblog.wordpress.com/2016/05/16/abracadabar-to-open-at-boardwalk/

That would be amazing, but I got the feeling from reading your link and this DIS article that it might be more of an area where the BoardWalk Buskers would gather after performing? Maybe AC II Lite?

The AbracadaBar lounge will open next door in the previous location of the ice cream shop. This is being touted as a “curious cocktail lounge” with a “Golden Age of Magic” theme. The storyline goes that “the lounge was once a secret stomping ground for famous touring magicians, local boardwalk illusionists and the loveliest magician’s assistants of the day. After every magic show, these prestidigitators would gather at the bar, where they’d conjure up new cocktails, swap magic tips and tricks, and often stay up all night attempting to “out-charm” each other with their extraordinary illusions.”

We have a trip booked for 7/17-7/23 and this is our first time at BWI! This thread has been tremendously helpful- many thanks to all who help us first-timers! With the room requests, do you know if they are possible on an AP room rate? Wasn't sure if those rooms are specific to a certain spot at the resort. And I am THRILLED about walkways to DHS and EPCOT! Are these marked on the resort maps or do we have to inquire about them from a CM? Love being able to bypass the buses.

Welcome to the thread and congratulations on booking your first stay at BWI, @MouseEars4Ever. Requests can be added to any reservation. The only exception is if you're renting points to stay in a villa, the owner from whom you rented the points will have to add requests for you. Just call CRO/WDTC and ask to have your request added at least a week prior to arrival.

I have photos of the DHS/Epcot walkway signs in the TRANSPORTATION chapter of the thread. The walkway to DHS is behind the pool and Community Hall. I'll log your dates and happy planning.

No waitlist - which I figured since I'm sure this is a popular time, and I think the renovations on Beach Club rooms might be affecting availability.

But we're super excited to be at the boardwalk again! 2 more days!

I hope you had an easy trip and you're having a magical time!

Excited to say that we will be staying at the BWI for the first time this summer!!! 7/23 - 7/30. Thanks for all of the information on this thread to help us navigate the resort. On our last trip we stayed at BC & somehow never made our way to check out the Boardwalk. My DH has a Clown phobia so I can't wait for our pool day!!!! I do have a quick question on the actual layout of the BWI side & getting down to the actual Boardwalk. Are the elevators located closer to the lobby & lounge. Are there any secert stairway entrances to get into the Inn closer to the Epcot side? As I know room request are just request, I do see several people asking to be close to the elevators. Typically, this would not be one of my standard request but trying to understand how important it should be. Thanks in advance for you advice.

Welcome and congratulations on booking your first stay, @loveyb72. The BWI elevators are located right next to the lounge and nearby the lobby. If you exit the elevator and walk down one flight of stairs which is adjacent to the lounge, you'll be right near the path to Epcot.

There's no way in the world---> LoL ( Not just Disney WORLD) that they should be knocking on the door to get in to do the room, or change it over......That's way too early regardless of whether or not a sign is on the door or not. Just my opinion of course...

Housekeeping hours are approximately 8:00 - 4:30, give or take 30 minutes. The carts will start to be staged around 8:15. Rooms that are "check-outs" take the longest to prepare and if a "check-out" is on their list, and the DND sign isn't up, they will often try to complete those rooms first.

We own (and LOVE BLT) but our next trip in September is a week at the poly.

Aloha!

Good afternoon Boardwalkers!!!

We had a recent stay at the BW..Inn side..and I did promise to come back and share our thoughts about our stay ..at what has truly become my fave Epcot resort...:cloud9:....we did a split stay and started at the BWI....

We have stayed here a few times in the last year...and the previous stays were really great..so...I was worried...would this next stay be just as good....:worried:...and I'm happy to say...it was!! :dance3:...

~Resort ...I find this resort to be so charming...and authentic to its theming...from the decor..to the music that seems to be piped in everywhere...and it adds a very nice ambience to the Disney bubble! The only evidence that we saw of construction was the walls around the Flying Fish...otherwise..we did not see or hear anything...

~Check in...plenty of CMs at the desk...and check in was quick and easy..got a room close to where we requested..and on the floor we requested too...:thumbsup2...we had a birthday in our party..and there was a birthday button with our welcome packet..

~Room...I really enjoy the decor and palette of the BWI rooms...so many Disney touches ( which is as it should be at a WDW resort IMO)..from the Minnie desk lamp..to Mickey design on the chair..and even the wall sconces! The room was in good repair and very clean...as were the bathroom areas..the monorail resorts should take some tips from this resort on how to set up a bathroom area ..a nice shelf above the double vanity...and plenty of storage below it...

~The Boardwalk! What better "grounds" can a resort offer..just a few steps outside...and you have the whole boardwalk at your fingertips..fine and quick dining..I know I have mentioned how great we think that BW Joe's is for a nice fluffy drink! :drinking1..also..a nice relaxing place to just sit for a while...

~Transportation...While I thought that nothing would take the place of the monorail as my favorite way to get around during a WDW vacation...I find being able to walk to two parks wonderful!! And the Friendships are pretty neat too...:boat:...we also took the buses a few times...never had a long wait...even at off times..and found the transportation board at the bus stop to be quite accurate!

~Dining...Well technically..the only onsite dining this resort has is the Bellevue Lounge..a super spot for morning coffee..a bagel..complete with toasting station..butter..cream cheese and jam..and assorted cereals and pastries..fruit too...and...the Boardwalk Bakery was great for a sandwich..I would recommend the roast beef and salami sandwich..big enough to share..and yummy too..and should I even mention the variety of cupcakes...:goodvibes... Worth everyevery sugary bite and calorie......lol..we finally tried Trattoria al Forno...another hit...tasty fresh Italian cuisine! We had dinner..but breakfast is on our must try list!

~Pool...Well..I must admit..I was a little put off by that clown slide...:earseek:...lol...but the whole pool area is very nice...Leaping Horse Libations was a good place to get out of the sun...a nice awning all around.. have a cold beverage..and the set up of the lounges and umbrella tables gave this whole area a cozyish feel to it too..glad we took the time to spend some time here too..

Last but not least..CMs...we never passed a single person at this resort that did not greet us in a friendly fashion... :thumbsup2...and any encounter at the desk..whether for help with dining...or just getting information was a positive..very impressive!

We really had a great stay ..and every trip makes me a greater fan of the BWI...and the of the whole Epcot resort area...Kind of the best of all WDW worlds!

What a lovely review, @BlueSkies, thank you for posting it! Can't believe how soon you'll be back to WDW. Are you at the GF again?

We arrive on Friday. TP sent me a notification today that my room fax was submitted and I've also done on-line check in. I hope that all works out. There is nothing more for me to do but pack. After having snow flurries here yesterday, I am so ready for some warm weather.

Sorry @Jennasis that you had issues on your trip. We are on the Inn side and don't spend much (any) time at the feature pool. DH loves to sit on the balcony in the morning and evening, so having the balcony unusable would be a problem for us, too. You'll have a great time at Poly.

It's almost time!! I hope you and DD have a magical vacation:)

Can anyone tell me what the parking situation is now? When we stayed there last year there were parking issues/advisories and they seemed pretty good about keeping the lots available just for guests of BWI/BWV. We're not staying there next trip  (staying at ASMu) but we'll want to drive over for a visit. Just curious if we're going to have to pay for valet or will they let us park for free for a few hours (FYI-not cheating and going to a park).

I believe the parking situation is unchanged from your last visit. But, I don't think they'll let you park there without a BW ADR - hopefully someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

Do you miss it enough to re-re-re-book and help solve the mystery of who absconded with Paul...or is Todd missing?
I do ;) But Maddie said Poly is a better deal, and I should always go with the better deal. Plus she added in that we couldn't stay there in 2014 or 2015 we should stay there now

omg... just read the two articles on DPB and TP on Flying Fish and the new bar....and noticed they said opening END OF SUMMER???!!! Flying Fish is our fav restaurant and were devastated it was going to be closed during our trip to BWI the 3rd week of September. I thought it was not reopening until late November! Do you think that late summer could mean September?!!

Hi, thinking about renting DVC points for our upcoming mother/daughter trip prior to my daughter's wedding. For the week we are going it seems we can rent points for a studio at Boardwalk Villas for not much more than the cost of staying at POP! Since we have a wedding to pay for, funds are a bit tight. My only concern is food options at BWV. We will be in the parks for most meals I would think but are there any fast food/food court type eateries in and around BWV? We will be taking DME from the airport so won't have the option to stop at a grocery store on the way to pick up snacks for the room.

The Boardwalk Bakery is good -- not nearly as extensive at Pop's food court, but takes care of you. The store on the boardwalk also sells chips, alcohol, etc. for snack-type things. Also, the Beach Club is just across the lake and it offers other options. Finally, I always go over to the Speedway to load up on Coke Zero (I drink that instead of coffee and it is cheaper there). It's a quick walk across the street -- watch for traffic as you cross the roads though! And another Finally is that Epcot is a quick walk to go get whatever snack or meal you might need. If you have park hoppers, Epcot is a nice option. I like to get a croissant there at night and have that for breakfast.

That makes a lot of sense. What I was reacting to was this sentence :

From its enchanted magic show posters and mystifying mirrors to vintage props and tricks left behind years ago, AbracadaBar promises to be just as surprising and magical as its name suggests.

If the construction guys were hot...maybe! Even at night they didn't lower the cranes. They left them both up and extended. Last night we sat outside to unwind and wondered why they were up.

This literally make me LOL!!!!:laughing:

You need to listen to that smart little cutie of yours! :thumbsup2 ::yes::

What a wonderful way to spend some pre wedding mother daughter time....:goodvibes Belleview Lounge is great for an quick breakfast...coffee, juice...also there is a toasting station..yogurt..pastries.. We are big fans of the BW Bakery for a quick meal... ..good sandwiches (which DD and I have shared..as they are a nice size)...soups..cupcakes...also on the Boardwalk itself is a To Go Kiosk..it has hot dogs with lotsa fixings..corn dogs too...and I think chicken sandwiches and pulled pork sandwiches and mozzarella sticks....There is also a walk up pizza window..and lots of nice outdoor seating right along the Boardwalk promenade...very picturesque and relaxing....and for a low key sit down there is also Big River Grille and Brew Works..So yes indeed lots of options... Have a wonderful trip...and congrats on the upcoming wedding too....:)

Kook Next up for us.....Poly ( DDs choice)..winter trip will be at the BWI for sure .....:flower3:

psac Yup must be Todd that missing...hopefully his twin will disappear soon too...lol....sorry creepy chair fans.......My BW nightmare would be seeing those two chairs with in my room...or taking a slide down the clown slide and popping out of its big old mouth....:faint: :crazy2:  ....

disprincess I would think late summer would mean end of August...but...who knows...hopefully your fave restaurant will be open by the time you arrive! :wizard:

Blueskies I get by with a little help from my friends....BWI 2017 as per my Maddie (for now)

Just got back from a week in a 2 bedroom suite in the BWV. Rooms 5087/5089 overlooked the Community Hall and pool, and the canal to DHS...with a view of Tower of Terror and the Star Wars fireworks! This was from our balcony...

Great picture. I figured there had to be some rooms that could see the show as I could see it from the quiet pool at the Community Hall. Now, if they could just get the accompanying music played in the room and resort.
