Resort Thread Disney's BOARDWALK INN Resort

Staying in a Grand Villa for the first time (all other experiences were two bedrooms) from 6/30 - 7/8.

Does anyone know if these are all refurbed at this time? Also where is their approximate location? Crest 'o the Wave section? or over Screen Door? Trying to determine how far away from the elevator it is.....

I own at Saratoga - but have never stayed there once. :) The Boardwalk is our adopted home away from home.

Thanks.

Do the studio villas have a laundry basket in the room? Trying to decide how many pop-up hampers to buy since doing laundry will be unavoidable for us. Thanks!

I have never had a laundry basket in a studio.

Does anyone know if the large walk-in closets off the bedroom differ in the rooms? We stayed at VWL last time and were looking forward to the closet but our closet ended up not having a sliding door but an actual door and jt was smaller then others we had seen.

Are all BWV 1 bedroom closets the same?

Love the one in that picture in the previous thread, I'm hoping g they are all like that.

Our VWL closet was smaller than some pictures I've seen too and had a hinged door and then we had a large closet with a sliding door at BWV. I took note of this because my DD uses the closet/bath area as her separate sleeping space and at VWL she had to be in the bath by the tub but at BWV her sleeping mat/bag fit completely inside the closet- though we left the door open for air circulation.

Thanks! That is exactly what I wanted it for a sleeping space for our youngest.VWL for us had a hinged door and smaller closet. I was disappointed. Here's to hoping I get a nice big closet at BWV.

Help! We arrive June 3 and I have some questions. We are early risers and go to bed at 9 and want a quiet room during 9pm-7am. We have a standard room and view.
1.) What time does construction start in the mornings?
2.) For room requests on TP and also for room requests when doing online check-in, it just says "upper floor." We want TOP floor so no one is walking above us at night. Should I just fax my own request and say that?
3.) Given all I said, is top floor and away from elevator your recommendations for what I should ask for?
4.) Finally, should we do a fax request AND online check-in? If yes, does it matter which one we do first?

Thanks so much in advance!

We were just there in April and I did online check in just requesting highest floor then sent a fax request with the following information from TP room finder: Bldg 1,Flr 5,E-facing room.Exmple:5278,5276,5274,5282,5272,5270,5268,5266,4282

We were put in room 5278 which faced epcot and I found to be very quiet. You may hear some fireworks, but they are done by 9:20 if illuminations is at 9pm. We didn't notice any problems with construction noises and we slept late a few days. In the fax, I would just put that the most important thing to you is a quiet room, so 5th floor would be appreciated. We were relatively close to the elevators and didn't hear any noise from them.

I can't tell you how helpful this is - thank you! Two quick follow-ups:
1.) is 4282 actually on the fifth floor?
2.) I don't suppose you know if 5276 and 5274 are toward the elevator or away from it?

Wow, I just finished reading this whole thread and it is very long! We (myself, husband and 3 x DD aged 18, 15 and 12) are booked to stay at BWV for 12 nights from 07 Jan 2017. We are staying in a 1-bedroom Standard villa and have renting via an owner.

I know room requests can be made but are never guaranteed and, from the sounds of it, not often met. And, after reading all this helpful information, I'm having trouble figuring out what location I'd even wish for! I booked to stay at BWV so that we would be in close walking distance to EPCOT and so, I guess, if our villa was located near the elevators, that's the closest that we could get to EPCOT when staying in a standard villa. But it sounds like the villas at that end can suffer from outside noise which would not be good. However I'm not keen to have to walk down, what sounds like an extremely long hallway, to get back to our villa after spending all day on our feet at a theme park or if we just wanted to nip down and spend some time on the Boardwalk. It seems really hard to work out what would be the ideal location for us! First world problem I know :)

The only other time that we have been to WDW we stayed at POR and were in room in a preferred Alligator Bayou block so that has probably spoilt us somewhat in terms of having quick & easy access to the food hall/reception and bus stop.

Back later to multi-quote, but in the meantime, AllEars is reporting...

~ The BoardWalk's Garden Suites accessible rooms will be closed for refurbishment June 8-July 12, 2016.

~ The BoardWalk Villas soft goods refurbishment will be completed by August 30, 2016.

are all the villas refurbished now? We arrive next week and staying in a studio villa. Should I request a refurbished room or are they all done anyway? I received an email indicated construction going on to enhance future magical experiences. What is going on right now? Are they doing exterior painting?

Hi - so 4282 is on the fourth floor. You can leave that off the request.
In the picture below I marked off room 5278. The room numbers go down as you get farther from the elevators (towards the stairs). So the next room to the right of 5278 is 5276 - so 5276 is farther away from the elevator than 5278. There was a storage type of room behind the elevator bank (thats why you see 5 elevators - I think the two black boxes are the service elevators in that room. So room 5280 which looks to be right behind the elevator bank is actually next to the service area.

Over on the CR thread, recent CR guests are reporting that in both the Tower and the Garden Wing Standard Rooms, they received daily bottles of Dasani water and toiletries previously only offered in suites and some CL rooms. Have any of you experienced this recently at BWI or any other Deluxe Standard rooms?

We did not receive water or toiletries in our BWI standard room. We did have robes, which we'd never had before except in the Club level. I'm not sure if that was just because we were on the 4th floor. I wouldn't count on robes in any standard room, but it was nice to have them.

Any reports on Ample Hills Creamery lines on the Boardwalk?

We just returned last night. There were never long lines at the Creamery. I got a shake one night and I had no wait. The staff was very happy to let people try different flavors, etc. While I was waiting for my shake, four other people came in to get ice cream and they were immediately helped. The ice cream was good, but I don't think I'll pay $9 for a shake there again. Some of the flavors are a little too weird for me. To me, good ice cream stands on its own and doesn't need a bunch of tricks. If you were asking a different question, let me know and I'll try to answer.

That sounds like the first step in charging a resort fee...

I think you may be on to something. So far, they seem to be beta testing this at CR.

I posted most of these pictures on my Trip Report here from our stay in December 2015.

Here are some photos of Villa 3103 as well as some photos from the lobby and the Boardwalk itself. I have some more which I will post in the trip report over the next few posts, if you want to see more posted here let me know and I'd be happy to.

There is also a short video/room tour (sorry about the focusing, I should have stuck with my video camera but was trying to video on my new dSLR and hadn’t really worked out the focusing on the video (still haven’t lol)

Great seeing your photos and thank you for posting your video, too, @lffam:)

Pas130-the meet & greet is back on!!:sunny:

:yay: I hope we get some photos!

 What is funny is my TA is even happy with this change. Why I couldn't stay put with Poly.....IDK but I do know it was the cheapest CL choice but not my 1st choice. I am VERY happy to be able to get the Pas-lettes there!!!

YES! :teeth::goodvibes

Yippee for first choice!

Bumping your GV questions and congratulations on booking the GV! I'll add your dates to PAGE 1.

Welcome! I'm not the BWV expert on this thread, but I do know that you would have to have the owner add any requests to your reservation. I really don't think you'll shave too much time off your walk to Epcot if you request a villa that is "closer." But, if you're further from Epcot, then you're closer to DHS.

I believe you're correct that DVC villa requests, especially bookings using points, are less likely to be met than non-DVC and cash reservations. I think you'll be pleased with your walk to Epcot no matter which one-bedroom you're in as the furthest is maybe only 5 minutes further.

See the post right above yours. :thumbsup2

Thank you for always being the faithful DIS GPS, @dansdad:)

Thank you for posting about the amenities, @Sandi

Thanks for reporting about AHC and $9??!! A Kitchen Sink is only $20 more and at B&C, their shake is $5.49... And to think any size shake at McDonalds is $1.99. I know, I know: location, location, location.

Hi guys! Quick question- can I request a cot for a 1 bedroom villa? We are below the occupancy level, but, would just prefer a separate sleeping space for DS. Thanks!

No cots or roll aways available. You'll have to bring ir ship an air mattress.
