Disney's ART OF ANIMATION RESORT Thread

Correct, there is no resort-to-resort transportation, so you'll need to take the MK bus from AoA and then walk or take the resort monorail. To get to DTD, you'll need to visit a resort and take the DTD bus from there, as there's no park-to-DTD bus transportation. Depending on where you are, sometimes it's best to considering returning to your "home" resort and then get the DTD bus from there. You don't have to do it that way, but it's sometimes a good transition so you can visit your room, change, etc.

Double check this but last time I was there they said they were going to add a animal kingdom to DTD BUS

I'm sorry if this has been asked before but do the fridges in the suites have a freezer? Thanks!

Right, I already forgot about that. Within the last year or so there were reports of testing of an AK to DTD bus, but during my February visit, that route wasn't available. Sadly. :-(

That's a bummer cuz it was last October when I was down there and the bus driver said it was coming soon

We overbought bottled water and juice pouches and would love to give them away. We have 24 waters and about 40 juice pouches. We are staying in the tow mater building 1. If you are interested just send me a private message. We will need to get them to you early because we have to check out Saturday.:)

Now here's a thoughtful person! :)

Does anyone know if it is easier to drive to Typhoon Lagoon or Downtown Disney right now, due to all of the construction??

The AoA pools are saltwater! We loved them, so nice to not have to deal with that extreme chlorine smell!

I took a solo trip last January. Stayed in the Mermaid wing, in the Ariel building.

As accommodations go, it was fine. The room was overpriced in my opinion, but I was paying to stay on Disney property so it was OK.

My beef was it so freaking far from the main building and the buses. You come back exhausted from a day in the parks, and you still have to walk another freakin mile just to get to your room. Then if you're going to eat somewhere nice that night, you walk a mile to the bus, and another mile back afterwards.

The standard rooms are all in the Mermaid wing, and there is a wonderful EMPTY parking lot right next to them. If you are going to stay in a standard room at AoA, don't rely on buses, DRIVE. You will thank me later.

*** If you plan to use the Disney transport system, find another hotel. Standard rooms at AoA are not worth the walk.

I have put in a request for two cribs during our August stay (twins who will be 15 months old at time of travel). Does anybody know if AOA provides actual cribs or pack and plays? Any pictures? We are staying in a Cars suite so hopefully there will be enough room for two!

I have only ever heard of pack and plays

Thanks for the timing tips! This is our first trip to disney. So, if I understand correctly we can't actually take the bus right to the contemporary? We have to go to MK first and then take the monorail over?

Another question, is it easy to navigate getting from one place to another using the Disney transportation? On another night we need to get over to Downtown Disney

Just FYI, we planned our Chef Mickey ADR with going to Downtown Disney, so we took bus to DD, hung out/shopped for a while then took Contemporary bus directly to Chef Mickey. I would suggest trying to get there early. We arrived about 10-15 minutes before our ADR, and there was quite a line to check in. You then get your pic with a Mickey statue, and wait again.

Is the big blue pool a salt water pool?

I remember the press release information about the resort before it was opened indicated that it would have the first salt water pools at a Disney resort. Many of the well-respected Disney information websites indicate in their reviews of the resort when it opened that the pools there are salt water. If you google it, you'll find many sources that claim the pools at AoA are salt water. I know it did not make us smell like chlorine when we swam there last summer.
