Disney's ART OF ANIMATION RESORT Thread

Can anyone tell me how long roughly the walk is across the lake from Pop? Staying there for a few days in February, but AoA calls to me, so I'll probably end up heading there for food if I really want to eat in the resort.

What is Disney movies under the stars Does AOA has Disney Movie under the stars?

They show movies outdoors nightly by the pool. Here's AoA schedule for January, the schedule changes every month.

Art of Animation Poolside Movie Schedule ~ 7:00PM

Sunday - Wall-E
Monday - Alice in Wonderland
Tuesday - Cars 2
Wednesday - Tarzan
Thursday - Tangled (see our princess page)
Friday - Planes
Saturday - Oliver & Company

It's about a 5-10 minute walk from Pop Century to Landscape of Flavors at AoA....it just depends on where you're starting from at Pop. The bridge itself is about 100 yards long. We stayed in a Lion King Suite at AoA this summer and walked between the resorts several times...it's a quick walk. We ate lunch at Pop one day and on a few occasions when we were at a park and waiting for a bus to AoA, the Pop Century bus arrived first so we hopped on that one and walked back to AoA. It's really not a long walk at all.

Since you are in a suite which does sleep six, if some of your party pairs up you should be ok. The bedding is not the usual arrangement: one double in the bedroom, and in the living room there is one table bed, a fold out sofa, and a fold out chair.

Just want to clarify for those who may be reading that there are 3 "sleeping surfaces" in the AoA suites. A queen-sized bed in the bedroom; full-sized "table" bed; and full-sized pull-out couch. There is no fold-out chair in the AoA suites (only the All-Star Music Suites).

Yahoo!! We r booked for June in LM room. Soooo excited. We usually stay at ASMo, can someone compare walking from LM to AH to something at ASMO? Is it further than mighty ducks to the busses? Thanks

The farthest room in the Little Mermaid section is about 550 yards from Animation Hall (but it's a nice walk!). For comparison, the farthest room in the Mighty Ducks section at ASMo to the farthest bus stop is about 475 yards. From the far end of Mighty Ducks to the far end of Toy Story is about 550 yards.

Thank you! That helps put it in perspective. We have often hopped off a bus at ASMu or ASSp as they were so crowded at end of the night and enjoyed a quiet stroll back to our room at ASMo Dalmation section. This will be much shorter than that and more enjoyable as we won't have to cross parking lots. Of course we always had the option to stay on all the way to ASMo and have a shorter walk. But I think we'll be fine. I'm really looking forward to staying at AoA!

Just booked today with the GP discount. We will be staying in a Cars Suite over Memorial Day. So excited!

I know the table beds in the family suites are doubles, but can anyone give me an estimate how high off the floor the beds are? My daughter will be 2 when we stay in March - I was just wondering if she would be able to share the pull down bed with her sister or if it would be too high. If it is too high, can you request a crib in the room?

Not sure on the exact height but I remember my 5 year old had to climb to get on it or needed a boost. The fold out couch is lower so maybe that would be an option. You may be able to request bed rails.

How long are the bus rides to magic kingdom? Would it be quicker to drive your car to magic kingdom? We have only stayed at the poly but they have a ton of construction going on so we may not stay there this trip.

Question! One of us has to know the answer to this. Stayed in the LM wing in October/November. Every time we walked through there, be it to the parks or coming home from a long day, I'd hear Under the Sea play at least once. It was not the original Under the Sea version- it's a re-imagined type, but for the life of me I can't find it anywhere! I've gone through every 'Under the Sea' version on iTunes, nothing is it. Anyone know who sings the version they play at the resort?

Is it the girl who sings on the Choo Choo Soul clips on Disney Jr? I know they play a version of it sometimes.

Once you're on the bus, about 17 minutes.

Would it be quicker to drive your car to magic kingdom?

I have found that it's almost never quicker to drive your car to MK. The bus drops you off pretty much right at the gate to MK. If you drive, you have to park your car at the TTC, depending on how early you arrive take a tram from the parking lot, then take the Ferry or Monorail to the MK gates.

Wow! How did that work? The Disney Visa website doesn't say anything about resort discounts. Were you already a cardholder?

I'm guessing it was just the standard "early access" to discounts for Disney Visa card holders. I'm a Disney Visa card holder and I got an e-mail on 1/2/14 announcing the basic 30% discount on Deluxe resorts; 25% on Moderates; and 20% on Values. The discount opened to cardholders that day and then to the general public on 1/6/14.

ETA: The discounts are for travel between 4/20 and 6/15/14 and must be booked by 3/31/14.

The bus was pretty quick, definitely faster than driving. However if you think you will be leaving when it is high crowds, like after wishes, I think the walk and wait for the bus is at least as long as taking the tram to your car. Our first day at MK we were there an hour before rope drop and parked right in front, no tram needed. The great thing about AoA no sharing with other resorts! Must make it a lot faster.

I have a few friends who get really snobby about the values, and won't even look at AoA...I don't understand the notion that it's a bad resort, between the single trip bus and the pool, theming in general especially for kids, I don't see why people won't look at it. I am planning a trip now and while I might do deluxe I am seriously considering an AoAsuite instead even if price is not a factor. Oh well more room for the rest of us right?

Thank you dansdad for the update and I can't wait to stay in AOA for Arya's First Birthday on September 5-7 2014!

I'm getting some conflicting information, and hoping someone can clarify it for me.

I read 2 posts on allears.net that mentioned that there are DVD players in the AoA suites. One said a player at each TV, and one just specified the master bedroom. I also read a question & answer that there aren't DVD players in LM rooms earlier in this thread.

I posted the question in a separate thread, and was told that there aren't DVD players in the suites. Can someone please clarify for me? Was this just misinformation, or did Disney originally have them but decide to remove them?

Thanks! :)

We had friends stay in a Cars Suite in December with zero DVD players.

It looks like I have a lot of reading to do! Just booked my first stay at AOA for June.:goodvibes

Did you get the discount? I think it is only for early June, in the Cars and Lion King suites but anything is better than rack! I am unfortunately stuck on the rack because it is a grad trip and my graduate is a Little Mermaid fanatic :-P
