Disney's ART OF ANIMATION RESORT Thread

Just checked in online and requested a 4th floor LM room overlooking the pool/courtyard area.

For those who have stayed in the LM rooms, should we try for a 1st floor room or a top floor room? I like the ease of a first floor room, but at the same time wouldn't mind the views of a third floor room. I guess it comes down to noise. Is there alot of noise from above on the first floor rooms?

We've stayed 2nd floor Hourglass Lake View Ursula section in April and 1st floor Landscape View King Triton section in December. Both were silent as the grave. I think the entire section is very quiet. I have always suspected that it's because the families drawn to AoA are typically attracted to the suites. Most that want a smaller room go for Pop or All Stars. I think the LM rooms in particular cater to the adults more...since this is pretty much the only resort with only one area in particular a couple without kids would have use for. Just a theory. I just suspect that because of that, there's a higher concentration of adults there.

The new bedding trend at WDW (and on the cruise line) is to a non-bedspread (comforter) treatment, with the resort pattern/theme now appearing in a throw at the end of the bed. I don't know but I'd imagine this also means the old-style comforter can't be requested.

Ah, got'cha. :) Thank you! They really should update those pictures on their website.

A couple questions.

We have a boy and a girl so the LM room is out, and the Cars room wouldn't be very fair either. We do like the idea of a bit more room with a suite (esp as our kids are younger so that way they can go to bed and we can watch tv).

1) What exactly is a 'table bed', and is if comfortable?
2) Any specific feedback on the suites? Good or bad?
3) What area is best to ask for (near bus, restaurant)?

Thanks.

We have a boy and a girl also and we are staying in the LM room. Told him that mom and sister won out on this one. Lol.

1. The "table bed" is literally a table that converts to a bed -- similar to a murphy bed. It pulls down from the wall. My 24 yo son slept on it when we stayed in a Lion King Suite and he found it to be very comfortable (and he's pretty fussy). I tried it out and thought it was very comfortable, too. It has a nice thick mattress on it. You can see pictures on the first post of this thread. It takes almost no effort to pull it down from the wall -- one hand will do it.

2. We were a party of 6 (3 adults, 2 teens, and 1 child) and stayed in a Lion King suite. On previous trips we've had 2 rooms at either Pop or ASMovies. We really like the suites for several reasons: Plenty of space; private bedroom; 2 bathrooms; microwave & larger fridge (this is handy as we eat breakfast in the room every day). We also really enjoyed the decor in the rooms as well as throughout the resort.

3. We were in Bldg. 10 which was right next to the main building. We had about a 2 minute walk to the restaurant, Big Blue pool, and bus stops. I would suggest just noting your requests on the reservation: "close to Landscape of Flavors and bus stops". I had originally requested the Cars section and close to main building. When we arrived for check in and I saw the location of our room I wasn't thrilled. We were assigned a room in Bldg. 2 in the wing closest to the lake. It would have been a lot of extra walking since we like to use the refillable mugs and make a few trips to fill up at the food court every day. When I asked if they had any rooms available in any section that were closer to the restaurant, the CM showed me the location of the rooms available in the Lion King building and I immediately switched to that room. I won't request a specific section anymore -- just note our specific request.

And I wouldn't rule out Little Mermaid rooms just because you have a boy. My 14 yo son saw the rooms (our oldest son and his girlfriend stayed in one) and he didn't think they were too girly (neither did the 26 yo or the 24 yo.). Many people have posted here and on other boards that their sons were fine in a Mermaid room. And the suites are all very gender neutral. While we loved the location of our Lion King suite as well as all of the landscaping around those buildings, I have to say that in my opinion, the Cars section has the BEST landscaping of all the areas...especially at night. It's gorgeous.

Thanks for the tip about requesting the location. Definitely wouldn't have known that. We were originally looking at Pop Century, but moved to Art of Animation because of the suites...so i guess whatever theme it is, we'll take.

I'm making a trip with lil cheerleaders and NOT staying in a suite...what's the chances of getting a coffee pot for our room? I belive our building will be a hike just to get coffee.

Hi, I was thinking of going to WDW and staying at Art of Animation, I just have one question. The official check-in time is at 3:00 PM, but what would happen in the event that you arrived too late? (3:30 and onward)
Thanks, and I'm a very new member so sorry if I don't have the hang of things yet.

Like any hotel, your reservation is held until at least close of business (usually around 11pm). But since your rooms have all been paid for and the hotels operate 24hrs, you could arrive any time. I know people who have long drives or late flights who check in at 2 am! If you're going to be that late, though, I would probably call and alert the resort. We have always "checked in" at 7am, placed the bags in holding and hit the parks. Then, when the room is ready, they send a text. :thumbsup2

Thanks! Very helpful :)

Just to clarify, the "check-in time" is a no-earlier-than time.....you ("officially") can't check in BEFORE then, not that you're late if you don't check in BY then. It's the opposite of check-out.

But like PP noted, for very late night arrivals, I usually try to let the hotel know I'm still coming. That way, in case they're in an overbook situation, they'll know not to give my room away. That probably doesn't happen much with paid deposits, but it doesn't hurt.

I confirmed today that there are fridges in the rooms but does anyone know the capacity of the fridges? We are split in a LK suite and LR room so I'd like the info on both. Trying to decide how much milk and yogurt to order :)

Try WalMart, too. I asked this about a month ago, but I need to poke around again about how to fill out the shipping address. xD

I called AoA and they said it was fine to order from amazon and have it delivered on your first day. This is the address to use:

Disney's Art of Animation
Attn: (your name and arrival date)
1850 Animation Way
Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830-8400

Hope this helps someone

I actually found the prices on amazon (at least for water) to be crazy high. So I think I'm just going to go the garden grocer route.

THANK YOU so so so much! I'm not sure if I'm going the WalMart or Amazon route yet- the only reason I'm not using GC is because I don't actually need groceries, just cleaning stuff for the room and a case of bottled water for the stay.

You might want to try Staples.com as well. I know people have mentioned buying water and cleaning supplies from there and having them shipped to their resort.

Where is the best place to park it to charge? We will be using both the couch and table beds and will be having a crib in the bedroom.
