Disney's ART OF ANIMATION RESORT Thread

Our family can't wait to stay in the Cars theme in the AOA for Arya's First Birthday on September 5-7 2014!

I know the table beds in the family suites are doubles, but can anyone give me an estimate how high off the floor the beds are? My daughter will be 2 when we stay in March - I was just wondering if she would be able to share the pull down bed with her sister or if it would be too high. If it is too high, can you request a crib in the room?

We requested a pack n play and it comes with a sheet and I believe it was a Graco. The pull downs are high, however they also have bed rails as well. I am a very nervous person (especially when it comes to my children's safety) and I was very impressed with the safety (tightness, no gaps, etc) of the bed rails. They were very accommodating.

I'm not sure about the beds at AoA, I never had to use the port-a-crib that hotels supply because I bring my own bed where ever we travel. My dd even uses it in our RV. Target.com and Amazon.com sell a wonderful travel toddler bed called The Shrunks Tuckaire. Its an air mattress for toddlers. It has an inflatable side rail that the mattress sits down into so that the kids cannot roll off. The mattress takes a crib size sheet. It is nice an small when deflated about the size of a rolled up pillow. Hope this helps. ;)

EDIT: Nevermind! Dropped the POP reservation, AoA HERE I COME! I'm coming home!

...now I need to figure out how to get the right reservation code from hotels.com.

Can anyone give details on "average" early February weather in FL? As of right now, I have everything noted from jackets to shorts and tank tops. :lmao:

We were there last year, last week of January/first week of February. I had heard to plan from shorts/t-shirts to jeans and sweatshirts. I wore capris and t-shirts all week. We only used our jackets one morning when the weather was in the 60s, but it warmed up quickly. The warmest day we had was about 85. I don't know if that's average, but it was welcome to us coming from the midwest! ;)

Can anyone help me with the resort Activity schedule for Jan/Feb? I'd love to know what time the movie starts at night. Also, is there someone doing caricatures or animation drawing in the lobby??? Thanks! We arrive on Jan. 31 and can't wait! Cars Suite here we come!

Haha! I'll take anything that's 40 degrees and up at this point. It's been so miserable in PA, winters are the worst.

Here is the activities flyer for January. (This link always reflects the latest available.)

The February flyer won't be available until February 1, but you'll be on site anyway. :goodvibes

For those who have stayed in the LM rooms, should we try for a 1st floor room or a top floor room? I like the ease of a first floor room, but at the same time wouldn't mind the views of a third floor room. I guess it comes down to noise. Is there alot of noise from above on the first floor rooms?

I believe we stayed on the second floor in October, and man almighty was it quiet. We were close to the elevators, too, which surprised me by the lack of noise.

I tend to stay in ground floor rooms at value resorts (Pop, All-Stars) and I've yet to encounter noise issues. Cannot report on LM specifically, though.

And, AoA buildings have four floors like Pop does, so a top floor is four not three. (All-Star resort buildings have three floors.)

We had a 1st floor room in the Ariel building on the backside by the parking lots. We did not hear any noise from the parking lot, but we constantly heard people talking while walking by our windows. In general it was just people having normal level conversations, but it was audible in our room to the point where I could understand the conversation. I have never experienced this before and really wonder if people tend to be more quiet when they are in hallways on the upper floors. Also fireworks at night were very lound and woke both DH & I up, but thankfully DS was so exhausted he slept through it. If we stay again, we will request a higher floor.

We stayed on the top floor in an LM building last year and it was silent. To be fair- we were at the end of the hall, and it was a quiet week so I'm not sure we had neighbors either.

We're staying at an All-Star this year and I was sure to request top floor again with hopes of a similar experience!

Question!

On our last stay at AoA, I noticed a bit into the trip that we were not given a comforter for our bed. Is this a new norm for no comforters at all, or do you have to request one?

I don't want one, knowing how germy they are, but the question is buzzing on my brain. ;)

The new bedding trend at WDW (and on the cruise line) is to a non-bedspread (comforter) treatment, with the resort pattern/theme now appearing in a throw at the end of the bed. I don't know but I'd imagine this also means the old-style comforter can't be requested.
