Disney's ART OF ANIMATION RESORT Thread

We tried to order from staples.com but they won't accept Canadian credit cards. Walmart.com expected delivery for AoA showing 12/19 which is too late, and we don't have a car to pick up from a local store. Are there any other options for quicker delivery?

At worst, you can take a bus to Downtown Disney and walk across the street to the Hess gas station. They sell cases of water. I don't know how much they are but I know people have reported that it's cheaper than buying water on property. The downside is that you then have to carry the case(s) on the bus and back to your room, but people do this every day. You could also take a cab there -- don't know how much that would cost though and it could negate any savings.

Have you tried Amazon.com?

I tried amazon online and could only find deliveries in 5 to 8 business days which would be too late ... So called the agent and she found one option that would deliver by next Tuesday - $30 for case of 24 plus $22 shipping. $52 for only a case of water is too much. I managed to find garden grocer that will deliver next Tuesday. Because they have a $40 minimum order we ordered some snacks for the kids and the whole thing came to $54 (after using coupon code). So at least now we have a whole bunch of snacks too for almost the same cost (we were planning to carry some from here but now we don't need to). This is our 1st trip to DW - next time we'll be better prepared and order 8 to 10 business days ahead of time.
Thanks to everyone who responded!

Question about laundry - are they coin-operated or the new slide/card machines?
We were there 11/9-11/16. The washers and dryers take coins. But I think you could use a credit card in the change machine. I used the laundry by the mermaid pool.

Does anyone know what movies are being shown this month at AofA. Is there any place to check this out? TIA

Monsters University was showing the past 2 weeks, so I'm guessing that will show all month. I don't remember what the others were. Sorry!

I'm so excited we are booked into AoA in a Cars suite for the beginning of February. My 6 year old son has been asking to go since we first saw the rooms on the Disney channel. He knows we are going to Disney but thinks we are staying off property, he is going to freak when we get to our room. I've been reading this thread and following along, and it is making me that much more excited to go. This will be our first trip to Disney world (we went to Disney Land 3 years ago really last minute). I've been planning this trip for a year, and wish I had found this board before now

Is the theming OK in the Little Mermaid Rooms for a 7 year old boy? We are planning a stay in October, and I was just curious. There are only 3 of us, so a suite isn't needed. I mean we aren't in the room a lot anyways, but I was just curious everyone's thoughts on this.

Thanks

I can't wait for staying in the Art of Animation. And we can get the cards while we check in

I'm sure it will be fine. It's such a cool resort to explore. :goodvibes

My son is almost 6, he didn't seem to mind the theme :) he's seen the movie and really liked it, so I think that helped. Have fun!

From looking at the room pics the theme is more underwater than mermaid. It also helps that Ariel was a bit of a tomboy-you know more forks and shells than gowns and jewels!

We stayed there in January and I really think the theme is good for a girl or a boy. It's definitely not "princessey". As a matter of fact there is a picture of prince Eric on the wall and I don't recall if there's one if Ariel or not. When you're in the shower you feel like you're in Ariel's grotto and it's just cool to see all the things she found on the sea floor.

Two weeks till my trip!!

Does anyone know how frequently the busses leave to Magic Kingdom?

I found out that Splash Mountain is closing and my flight arrives at 4 PM, hoping I could make it through the magical express (?) and check in and then go to Magic Kingdom. It is closing at 1 AM that day..

Also.. Does anyone know how we can get our flight reservation number from Disney? I got the book from them, but the site won't take it.

One more question.. I seriously need help planning for this trip, and I don't know which thread I should be discussing it with, should I do it under "Theme Parks Attractions and Strategies" ?
