Just a final check before we go in 4 days, any update as to whether the RFID mugs have gone live at AoA yet?

We are staying at AOA Oct 25-30 and I am able to customize magic bands today! Woo hoo Had no idea we would be getting them for our stay. Looks like either they will be ready for everyone by Oct or we are a part of the 'testing phase'. Either way I am excited to be coming back to AOA and having a Magic band!

Not as of Monday. Maybe someone who's been more recently can confirm that's still the case.

I'm hoping by my trip the Magic Bands will be in full use and not just a test. I really want to try them out!

I am not sure If there was an email sent out. My DD would have received it in her email so I will have to ask her. I was basically just messing around in MDE and clicked on magic band/passes and there it was. It was not there a day or 2 ago.
I had to confirm shipping address and then It now allows me to customize my magic bands. Which I will do later tonight.

I will say that my DD is a castmember at Disney World and she booked the trip. So it may be that we are testing them for that reason. I know before alot of CM have been selected to test them during their stays.

BTW..The colors we get to choose from are Green, pink, blue, red, orange, yellow and gray.

Btw I just noticed you are from Kansas. So am I. I am in the very far SE Kansas area. Where abouts are you? We will be checking in on Oct 25 until Oct 30 and are booked in a Cars suite.

Just logged into dme today and noticed I have an option to customize bands and make Fp+ selections, our trip is oct 23-29. Did not receive email notification or anything so maybe you just have to check!

I didnt get an email either, but I was able to customize my magic bands for our 9/15-9/22 trip.

So to everyone who will be eligible to do the magic bands, will you be doing them? To be honest I haven't done that much reading about this new system yet, are there any reasons to NOT do it? From what I've read, for right now we should still be able to pull paper fp's is that correct?

I went ahead and did ours. The testing seems to be going pretty well so far, they're cool early souvenirs, and during testing we can use both FP+ and the paper FP system. Reasons not to do it would mostly (imo) be because there can be (and usually are) bugs in any beta testing, so you have to be prepared they may screw up and you have to take the time to get them fixed. The risk was worth it for us, but to each their own. Watch though - now that I've said that I'm heading for nothing but problems with them. *crossing fingers*

For all those who haven't gotten an email invitation for FP+ yet....
I am staying at AoA Sept 7-15th and was able to customize our bands and select FP+ times about 3 weeks ago, and just received my email TODAY along with a letter in the mail inviting us to test. I think others have had the same experience..... So have fun planning your trip and don't worry, the invite is in the mail!

We just checked out of AoA. Our fridge, too, was replaced yesterday - first floor building 7 (Ursula.)

I will say our stay was glitchy. Consistently, we had problems with new systems not working with old methods... Getting gift cards to swipe on the tap-to-pay terminals is pretty well impossible. LILO was down upon arrival. Room was not ready; we never got a text. Etc, etc. Unfortunately even if you opt out of EVERYTHING, you will be affected by the new systems. FPs are disappearing more quickly. Rides were down CONSTANTLY. No clue how that would tie in, but overall, our visit was just... glitchy.

ETA: We were told they are turning the mugs on Sept 3. CM was not excited about it. Last night they were selling the last of the black/pink/teal mugs - this morning the RFID orange/green/purple were out. Actually, I was surprised the CMs who were willing to share their true feelings throughout the trip...

Hi Everyone,

I just booked our second family WDW vacation for next August (19th - 26th) at AOA. We last stayed in a Royal Room at POR with a free dining promotion in August 2012. With no current promotions we opted for a value resort, and think that our DD's (currently 5 and 8) will love the theming of the LM rooms and area.

We are not opposed to changing resorts if a promotion does become available, so I will be checking this thread frequently to see if indeed we made the right decision, and to maybe sway me from changing resorts.

Can't wait to do some more research on the resort, and our trip next August.

I stayed in a LM room in February. From memory, I think the beds were very low to the floor - I don't think any suitcase will fit. Someone else may be able to tell you with certainty though.
