Thanks.:) Sat here for 10min trying to figure it out.In the Airline World we know that as flying the night flights(redeyes).Thought is was a fellow pilot that read the profile.Really feel dumb now:o
Oh yea the answers yes.:)

I was looking at the pics on wdwig.com and saw that there are rooms facing the pool area that were catagorized as a "standard view room". The reason they were listed that way was because there was partial obstruction from the roof of Boma and Mara. Does anyone know what room #s they are and where the location is (3rd floor I know, but in Zebra trail?). I woulf like to put in a request fir these rooms rather than the parking lot if possible.
Thanks.

I have not read the entire thread, so I appologize for any repetition. We stayed at AKL last May, when it first opened. We had an Savanah view, on the second floor. Things that were noteworthy: If you do not see the animals, go to the fire escapes and look to the ends of the building. They like it there, possible because it's very quite, as well as more shade. A castmember told us this and it really was true. The best Savannah appeared to be, IMHO, the one to the right side of the lodge as you enter. I can't remember the name of it, but it is not the big or the small one, it's the middle size one. Also keep in mind that a second floor room is actually third floor, as the bottom level has no rooms (animal barrier and storage). I would reccomend the first floor, which is actualy the second level. By the way, I read about the smoking situation there, and wanted to say that we were there during the fires. There was thick smoke much of the time, and the entire resort smelled like smoke from the rooms to the parking lot!!! Have Fun!!!

minnies guy, I'm not sir of the numbers for those rooms, but they are high up. It would be wise to request a high floor anyway, because if you get stuck on the parking lot side, it will be better to be away from the busses & foot traffic.

ask for Room 3507. Savannah view room right in front of a giraffe feeding stand. Ont he zebra trail with a great view. Also very convenient to the pool (take elevator right outside room practically right to the pool). Also fairly convenient to the lobby (same floor).

3509 and 3511 look to be good too.

Hope this helps
Gregg

We are staying at AKL this October for 3 nights. We are booked concierge and wanted to know which room requests to make. We want to be on the 6th floor. We are a family of 5 so we need one of the bunk bed rooms. We want a room with a good view of the animals and good access to the elevator to the lobby. This will be our first trip to AKL. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. THANKS!

:D :D :D

We just came back from staying at the AKL Concierge.

Only 6 of the 6th floor rooms face the sunset savannah.

The remaining rooms face the pool.

When concierge makes their rooming call to you, you will need to request one of these rooms. However, they are on a first come first serve basis. No guarantees.

If you request it, they will do their best to try and accomodate you.

Also, these rooms only occupy 4 guests.

I hope this helps you in your planning.

You would have a better chance of a savannah room on the 5th floor.

Either way, you won't be disapointed!

Enjoy your vacation.

I just returned from AKL Concierge. I can't say enough about how wonderful that staff is. To all who are going there for the first time, enjoy!! It's my favorite resort. I had a two-bedroom suite on the second floor, awesome views, very long porch. Concierge staff met all my requests and beyond. I just love that place, and can't wait to go back.

When should I expect my concierge call? 30 days, 60 days, etc.? Should I fax or e-mail them ahead of time? Just looking for some feedback. THANKS!:D :D :D

They called me 5 times.

The last call was two days before I got there.

If you have their number, call them first to get put in the system about 2 months out.

Dizpro had a thread that talked about an AKL mention in a USA Today article. Here is the link to the electronic version of the article: USA Today Article.

The article was entitled "10 Great Places To Meet A Millionaire." Septuagenarian socialite Marylou Whitney shared with the article's author "choice spots for rubbing shoulders with the monetarily endowed of both sexes." Here's an excerpt:

Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, Lake Buena Vista, Fla.

Suites here can run $600 to $2,000 nightly. "John and I stayed in a big one with balconies all around. Giraffes practically poked their heads in our noses. Marvelous food and service! I want to go back."

DBORGES, what do you mean by first come first serve basis. (first to ask, or first to arrive) I want a 5th floor savanna room. I have requested it by e-mail they e-mailed bak and said they have it as an a request should Icall back before I leave and double check.

There are plenty of 5th floor rooms.

There are only 6 6th floor concierge rooms with a savannah view.

I had called concierge before my posting to kid@heart.

That is what I was told by the cast member at the concierge desk.

It would be on a first come first serve basis.

AS far as a clarification, you might want to call them.

I am very interested in staying at AKL is Sept. I have a few questions for any AKL pros out there;
1) Are there any great rates for the AKL out there for Sept right now?
2) What are some of the best rooms for the concierge guests?
3) I am planning on doing Tues., Sept. 17th at the AK park, then I will relax at the resort for the rest of the day. What are some really great things to do while staying here?
And Last......
4) I am going to do the concierge level, how are the wines and cordials? I also plan to eat at Jiko's that night.

Thanks for any help, and extra suggestions you might have.

Melissa

1. Sorry don't know:(

2.Of course the Royal suites;) 6th floor is exclusive to concierge and that is where the lounge is. Both of our short stays there last year where on the 5th floor Arusha Sav View. There are Sunset Sav. and Pool view as well.
The rooms are the size of the WL.We love just sitting out on the balcony watching the animals. Please check this site out for photos:http://www.wdwig.com/g_akl.htm

3.Explore the grounds.Relax by the pool.Take a tour. There are numerous CMs hanging around to answer questions about the resort.Have a refreshment before dinner in the Victoria falls lounge. Attend the storytelling at the Arusha Firepit. Relax Relax Relax.:)

4. The wines are South African. The cordials that I remember were standards: GrandMarnier,Drambuie, etc. The problem is you can get really stuffed on the foods they put out.(if that's a problem.LOL)I know the Sunrise Safari that they used to offer concierge guests, has changed quite a bit since we attended it just after the resort opened. It was wonderful.Don't know what they do now.It is our favorite concierge of the WDW resorts. They staff is delightful.:)Here are other reviews.

Take along small binoculars. It can help in your animal viewing.Enjoy your stay:D

I think your confused the suites are located on the fifth floor

Both the Presidental and the vice Prisidental are on the fifth floor with some two bedrooms suites and one bedroom suite on lower floors.

Maybe you need to check the resort map...:bounce:

Sorry. That was not the intention.Question 2: They were asking about what concierge rooms are the best and we stated of course the suites were the nicest. The 6th floor rooms are exclusive to concierge guests. The 5th floor is not. Not that the suites were located on the 6th floor. Our first stay when the resort opened was in the room right next to the Royal suite on the 5th floor overlooking Arusha Rock.

Hi...just booked AKL for August 15, 2002. I am using the great rate for annual passholders. I booked savannah view but I will not be staying in concierge level. Is there a phone number or e-mail address I can use to request a specific room, etc.? I saw the e-mail address for concierge.

Thanks for your help and Iwould appreciate any other suggestions.
