Waiting for the discounts for early 2017. I could see a 20% discount, but hoping for more.

Due to work commitments, I have had to cancel my family's 2 week vacation at the Beach Club in October 2017. On the plus side, I have managed to book 3 weeks in AKL starting May 27th 2017 !! Delighted. Its obviously a long time to stay at the one hotel but we are pretty much tied in with a free dining package from the UK. As its 3 weeks its quite important that I try to get the best room possible for my category. As its myself and my wife along with our 15 year old daughter and 2 year old son we really need a room with bunk beds. Its also just a standard room category I was able to book. I am new to Touring Plans but I think I have managed to locate the absolute dream room for our category and our needs. At what point do you ask Touring Plans to notify AKL of the request ? Is it to early at this stage for a May 2017 arrival ? Any other tips woule be apprecaited. As I say, bunks are almost essential for the kids but any sort of view other than a car park would be fantastic. Thanks folks.

Wow, three weeks at AKL sounds like heaven! :cloud9: Sorry you had to cancel your beach club stay but I think you will love AKL. If you set up your trip on your dashboard on touring plans and select the hotel and pick a room request, touring plans will automatically send your request to the resort about 5 days prior to your check-in. They will send you email reminders before they do so in case you need to make any changes. In addition to selecting your dream room, I would put in the description field exactly what you said about bunkbeds being your top priority and then any other view than car park. That will help the room assigner know what you are looking for.

I do believe so from what I remember..I think it's over by the flamingos...

Omg there is a place with flamingos at the lodge?! I was just telling my husband I wanted to see flamingos in the wild. It's not wild exactly but I'll take it!

Yea they're so close to you too...Backside of the pool at Jambo House. Kinda neat...My DD absolutely Loves Them...

Yes, but if the rule is the same as usual, concierge will hold it in a room with a tag with your name on it.

Nope, not a thing anymore. You can have balloons. They can not be on the balcony. Fun fact, they will have cm's go to your room if you leave something on your balcony and either ask you or go onto the balcony and remove it. So no hanging towels, streamers, balloons, no christmas lights or screaming toddlers. ;) Also, they do not provide balloons. byob.

Shh...
So running the numbers, I think I've figured out we'll be able to swing a 1 Bedroom at Kidani for our May 2017 trip. Trying to decide between that and a Cabin.

Here now and need some help. Has anyone been able to successfully bypass the motion sensor A/C units at Jambo house. My fiancé and I keep waking up sweating and I can't get the bypass to work. Also no balloons allowed so not an option here. This is the unit in our room.

I totally get being energy efficient but 77 at night is way too hot for us.

Hi everyone! Happy to be planning for our first trip to AKL, less than a month away! It's my daughter's second time at WDW but first time staying on property so we are really looking forward to it.

Question about getting the bus to the parks: is there a published schedule or do you just go and wait for the next one? And do they run less frequently than during peak times? Thanks in advance to the AKL experts...

I had read about this and saved an article with some instructions about it. I haven't tested it personally, but life hacker website under an article titled "override your hotel room thermostat" suggested the following:
  • Hold down the “display” button
  • While holding that button, press “off”
  • Release off, continue to hold down display, and Press the “up” arrow button
  • Release all buttons
Hope it works! They also have a video link of someone doing it as well.

We will only be at AKL for a day, we will arrive sometime between noon and 2, and will have the day and beginning of the next day to explore AKL. My kids are 8 and 11, what do you recommend as far as activities for us to look into?

Thank you! I will try this one. I tied everything I read on line and even managed to get into the system settings so hope I didn't mess anything up.
