Has anyone used the gym at AKL? Is it at Jambo or Kidani? Is it well stocked? Do many people use the gym? Thanks!!

42 More Days!!!
:tigger:
I used the gym near the pool at Kidani-went over around 6:00 AM daily. It's your basic cardio equipment. I wouldn't call it busy, but there were several folks working out.

What was dinner like? We want to dine at Jiko and this may be a good option to see the animals and have dinner there.
Our first Wanyama Safari was also our first Jiko dinning experience & I thought it was a great introduction to the menu as you get samples of a number of items. I've also noticed that they are very attentive to dietary restrictions and brought out special plates for a couple of people who had alerted them ahead of time re: allergies to specific foods. We eat at a lot of Signature restaurants and Jiko is a favorite for me.

Are there any restrictions on pool use? We are staying at Jambo, but wouldn't mind checking out Kidani if we could. I hear their splash area is cool. We are DVC members if it matters.

That said, whats the low down on the pools? Love/don't love, tips, tricks and treats? 1st timers and looking to really explore thew place while we are there.

You can use the Kidani pool, just head out through the lobby to the front and a van will shuttle you over. We like it, but I didn't like not being able to see the top of the slide- or walk up- when my son was young. It's not visible if you're in the pool waiting, and there are bathrooms up there, which made me uncomfortable. We had quite a scare once when he didn't come down after many children came and went several times and had to go searching for him! Jambo slide is short and visible. It does have a deep section- not sure Kidani does....Jambo will also have nighttime pool movies which are fun, and a better food option, imo. It is our favorite resort~ I hope you love it as much as we do!

Question about the Laundry facility at Jambo house (non club level)

1. Does it take credit cards?
2. Can I purchase laundry detergents on site or do I need to bring it myself?? If I need to bring it, what type of machines are the washer, HE or regular??

TIA!

please someone answer me , we are staying in a savannah room and im trying to find out of the shower has a handicapped bar.

It appears from the photos that there is a bar in some of the shower/tub enclosures in non-accessible rooms (you can tell when the toilet is next to it rather than a spread out floorplan) but not all of them. I would perhaps call or fax in a request if it is needed to ensure you have one. Rooms seem to come in a lot of variety and shapes there.

I am staying there for the first time in Sept (thus my reading up on this thread) and will put a room request in as we booked a deluxe to get a King bed but we this wasn't an option to select when booking for some reason (even though it stated two queens or one king for the type we booked). I actually think the WDW is basic in that sense compared to other websites for booking.

That's because when you call, no matter what number you call, you are not speaking to anyone actually AT WDW nor at any of the resorts. You are speaking to someone at an offsite central call center or at home. (Well except if you're staying Club Level and are speaking with someone in IPO).

The above is not an excuse, I feel the phone CMs should have access to that type of information, but it is the reason why.

i called so many times they are clueless so its very hard for me to know if i need to buy one with suction cups to bring with me

Seems like I read somewhere that there are showers close to the pool, but now seems like I may have dreamt that! Can anyone tell me? I ask, because we have a standard view until Oct 6, then we move to a Savannah view, but that is the day we plan to do the MNSSHP, and wanted to chill at the resort for part of the day. And I DOUBT our second room would be ready anywhere near that early(although we will request early as possible at check in, and let that be our only request), so trying to decide if we would be able to clean up some after swimming. Thanks!

If it's not a problem to take one, i would do so anyway. Better safe than sorry.
I just don't want to buy one and waste money if they have one on the wall .they are like 40 bucks. I don't use them at home because I have permanent ones in the bathtoom
