Disney's ANIMAL KINGDOM LODGE Information & Questions

I have so many requests!! lol I have been looking everywhere for pictures of the seating around the pool area, other than the obvious loungers. Especially any table/chair setups, as I prefer those to sitting in a lounger. Also all the public animal viewing areas! I've only seen a few pics of those. And any other quiet, outdoor sitting areas would be awesome as well. TIA!!

It looks like Lvsdisney covered the pool seating area very well! DH and I were just "disagreeing" on an indoor viewing area that I remember (or imagined per DH!) If I find that one I will post it too. Arusha Rock is really a NICE spot for viewing and when we were there last there were rocking chairs to sit in as well.

Again if you think of anything else just ask! If someone doesn't pop a picture up I'll be more than happy to snap some for you.

I can tell you there are tables and chairs set up between the pool and the mara.

There are also some set up by the pool bar.

There are covered animal viewing areas right outside the lobby. They have a few rocking chairs and it over looks the main savannah at Jambo

Thanks so much for the beautiful pictures. Looks just like I remember it!

I'll be at AKL on the 14-17.. I will wave when we walk by the YC

We plan to be floating along the Lazy River and will :wave2: right back at you! Have a safe trip down (I think you're leaving tomorrow?!) and have a wonderful time. Disney is such a happy place for me! :cloud9:

After looking at my notes from our stay at AKL those are exactly what we experienced.

You are an awesome resource on things Disney! Thanks for taking the time to write things down and share :thanks: We originally were going to take detailed notes on all our trips but being lazy, we just noted things we DID NOT want to do again and why. Looking back, some of the food experiences might have been judged unfairly because one of us wasn't feeling well to begin with. BUT there are SO many things to try at Disney we're just not ready to repeat those just yet!

Hope everyone has a wonderful Wednesday!

Liz

Does anyone have any photos of the Jambo House villas after their soft goods refurb? Specifically, the value studios?

Do the 2 bed lock-out rooms in Jambo have a washer and dryer? We have been speaking with an individual about renting points and have a choice of either 2 studio units or a 2 bed lockout unit. Thanks!

Yes all 2bdrms have washer and dryers.
What you will gain with a 2 bdrm (in addition to the w&d) is the full kitchen and living space.

What size beds are in the DVC studios at Kidani? it looks like a full but i thought i read they have some kings?

We have stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge on all 3 of our visits to Disney. We just love it there! I am sure the other resorts are also great and I am drawn to quite a few... but we keep coming back to AKL. Thanks for the great posts.... excited to be back there next week!

Has the zebra dome been replaced by the zebra "cupcake", as stated on the menu of Mara and Boma?

I was just going to ask this too, saw it on another thread. This would be very disappointing to say the least.

AND it says it costs an additional $4.99 over the buffet price? Is this a thing now?

Down to 112 days until our Jambo (Jersey) house stay at AKL, during Jersey Week! I do have a question for all those knowledgeable AKL vets.........We've rented 2 Studio villa's, one for my wife and I and a second for my brother and his family. I've noticed that many of the studio's in Jambo are next to each other. In Touring Plans it says they can become 2 bedroom lock offs.

My question is..........Would I be able to request our room be "next" to my brothers room? Should I call them about this or can I just do it during online check-in?

Thanks in advance for any response :D

The zebra cupcakes are in Mara. There is a case where you can find cupcakes, danish, cookies, etc. It's on the left of the food line.

Zebra domes are always in the buffet line in Boma and you can also find them in Mara in the refrigerated section.

We just arrived yesterday! I saw the zebra domes at Mara. Haven't been to Boma yet though.

Has anyone done the Wanyama Safari? I booked it for one of my days staying at the AKL this September. I'm wondering what time dinner ends. The pre-safari reception at Jiko is 3:30-4:00 PM, then I think the safari lasts 60-90 minutes. I read that dinner may last up to 2 hours. I'm trying to figure out if I will have enough time after dinner to take the bus to MK, it closes at 9:00 PM, but the MSEP is at 9:00 PM, so I could see it as long as I'm in the MK by 9:00 PM. That's the only night I'll be able to make it to the MK, with the Halloween party on so many other nights I'm there, and I love that park at night! Of course, my first night I'll be at AK! :-)

anyone have a recent picture of a Jambo house studio? heard there was a recent soft goods refurb and we are booked for next April! Curious to see if it looks much different from our last stay in 2012
