Has anyone done the Wanyama Safari? I booked it for one of my days staying at the AKL this September. I'm wondering what time dinner ends. The pre-safari reception at Jiko is 3:30-4:00 PM, then I think the safari lasts 60-90 minutes. I read that dinner may last up to 2 hours. I'm trying to figure out if I will have enough time after dinner to take the bus to MK, it closes at 9:00 PM, but the MSEP is at 9:00 PM, so I could see it as long as I'm in the MK by 9:00 PM. That's the only night I'll be able to make it to the MK, with the Halloween party on so many other nights I'm there, and I love that park at night! Of course, my first night I'll be at AK!

I'd like to hear this answer as well. We are doing this safari on Sept 26th.

Your pre safari snacks last about 1/2 an hour, the drive through the savannahs about 1-1:30 hr.s and then dinner is multi course w/ wine pairings. Once dinner is done there's the transit time to the MK, the wait for a bus - there may not be many buses heading to MK that close to MK closing and the ride there once on the bus is another 20 min.s or so. W/ what you pay for the Wanyama experience you really want to enjoy it and not feel pressured to rush through it. Can you schedule Wanyama for another night so that you can fully enjoy the experience?

We checked in yesterday and had dinner at Boma last night. There were little zebra domes.

Oh thank goodness. Seriously. Our family's favorite tradition. Ever since DS was little, he loves to go up and choose desserts for us and bring them back to the table. He keeps track of how many "old ladies" tell him there is alcohol in them.

I saw them making the domes on Saturday morning during our bomb breakfast.. Huge tray.

We are back. It was a lovely trip but it just went so fast.

Managed to pull off the Club level surprise perfectly.
We checked out of our DVC room on Friday and when we went to the desk to drop out luggage to store, she checked us in and told us to help ourselves to the lounge upstairs. DD was stunned as sheet ought we were moving to pool view!

Thank you so much! You are right, I don't want to be rushed - this will be my first time dining at Jiko, and I want to savor the experience. Unless MK park hours get extended, I'll plan on just enjoying the AKL after the safari and dinner, maybe fit in a little night swimming. Thanks again!

Yes! Yes they are.

Oh thank goodness. Seriously. Our family's favorite tradition. Ever since DS was little, he loves to go up and choose desserts for us and bring them back to the table. He keeps track of how many "old ladies" tell him there is alcohol in them.

They are in a big section in the coolers with the bottled beverages and pre made salads. I think the box I grabbed was freshly made because the dome wasn't chilled and really soft but still really good. I chilled the others and they firmed up perfectly!

There are also some incredible strawberry scones in the bakery case on the opposite side from the zebra domes. If you're not feeling zebras I'd try that. We are having quite the late night snack tonight with both of those!

We were told as well there "may" be separate buses for Jambo and Kidani and be sure to look for Jambo on the sign or ask the driver to be sure you're going to the right place. We took a "joint resort" bus back tonight and close to 20 people boarded at Kidani asking if it was going to Jambo! Also not all buses go to Kidani first now.

What was dinner like? We want to dine at Jiko and this may be a good option to see the animals and have dinner there.

Yes, it is near the refill station. Used it this morning for our pizza breakfast....

I have to say Animal Kingdom Lodge has been insane in making our anniversary magical compared to Yacht Club where we got a "btw Happy Anniversary" as we checked out. It started as we can through the entrance gate where the guard wished us a Happy Anniversary followed by the CM making buttons and announcing to the lobby we were celebrating our anniversary. Today we came back to our room where our super sweet Mousekeeper, Nydia, left us this!!





I'm so loving it here.
