I was told it was discontinued. Not sure what that means, but that's what I was told. Maybe all savannah rooms are going to be lumped together as one category, or the arusha rooms are going to be club level only. I'd be interested in the answer to this, since we stay at AKL frequently.

Well that's a bummer - but thank you! I bet it will be a request option then, if we can't outright book it anymore. Very interesting either way o_O

I am booked DVC CL studio May 27,28,29 and DVC value studio May 30 &31. I have not received a letter yet.
Sounds like people have been getting letters for a month or more. I called IPO (got number from their email offering to help with plans) and inquired. IPO I talked with was at GF, and she had no idea about it. She said phone line at AKV must have been busy, so it went to her. Then she looked up, and read the standard script about 9-5 noise. She said no they wouldn't close the club lounge, then when I told her what I had read, she said well maybe they would. Like oh well, so sad, too bad. When I told her I had read they might move it to Presidential Suite, she said maybe they would. She was really useless.
I don't need IPO "helping with my plans", but I would like the letter and options available, if any. Those dates, May 26-June 1, are almost all gone already.

Please help me, AKL experts!

We are booked in a pool-view room, arriving next weekend. Yesterday I got an email from AKL telling me about the refurb, and I immediately called Disney, who reassured me that the refurb was in an "isolated" area of the resort and would not have any affect at all on where we're staying.

Yet someone posted in another thread that they were also booked in a pool-view room and they were told by Disney that the area they're in would possibly be affected by the refurb. Uh . . . we're booked in the exact same area.

Ack! Which is it? I have no desire to go on vacation and have to deal with the sounds of hammers, electric staplers, and saws, etc. We use the resort--even during the day--and I want a place to relax, not a place to run away from because of the noise level.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

We are in the same boat, I called and got the same reply. The only thing is if you stay on the 4th floor you may heat it above you. I guess if you get there and hear the construction you can demand to be moved, and reply with the message you received. I am fine if they stick to the 9 to 5 schedule they gave us in the letter, but if it's different then you better believe I will complain. This is the exact reason we didn't pick poly.

When I called I was told, "in room construction throughout the resort." It seems that everyone is getting different answers depending on who they talk to. I get the impression that the cast members have no idea what the construction schedule is or what the extent of the work or impact on the resort's guests will be. It made me nervous that they sent a letter though so we jumped ship and switched to a different resort.

I am just going in with the attitude that i will address it if and when it becomes and issue, because I cannot do anything to change it at this point. If we are bothered by construction I will, politely, insist that we be moved.

I'll give everyone a report after our trip this weekend. We have a standard room and requested an area on the 3rd floor. We'll see.

We are staying in Kidani 1 bedroom in March. Unfortunately, we were not able to get a Savannah View. Does anyone have recommendations on which elevator I should request to be by. Are there any Standard views that might view the Savannah for 1 bedrooms? Any tips are much appreciated...Thanks!!

Staying here 16th-18th February for a few days before Princess Half Weekend! I've never stayed before, but have heard great things.

We're looking to take things easy and just hang around the resort as we've got 3 races ahead of us. I've seen there are a lot of activities available, but are there any in particular people would recommend/any that are not worth it?

Also, are there any particular places we should put in a request for on our room?

Any general advice would be much appreciated - zebra domes are currently top of my list :goodvibes

...please realize that a pool-view room could be in either Zebra Trail OR Giraffe Trail, so if you are in one and the construction is going on in the other, obviously you shouldn't be affected by the noise. That being said, it has been my experience that construction usaully takes place between 9 and 5 so it shouldn't affect you...

Hi all!
We leave in 4 days and are staying club level. Does anyone know the email address for club level? I've had a hard time reaching them and thought I'd email. The email address I got from another thread is being returned as invalid.
TIA!

Can zebra domes be found anywhere else on WDW property other than AKL? I've had them at Boma and at the QS location in AKL, but I was wondering if anywhere else sells them.

....unfortunately, no. Imagine getting beignets at the Contemporary, or Tonga Toast at CSR. Kinda doesn't work, does it?

The buses at AKL are shared between Kidani and Jambo with Kidani being the first stop. In December, they had dedicated bus service to the parks for each location so they were separate. This made it SO much nicer. The bus home at night was packed as usual and still shared, but I think they are all packed at night. I was very happy with our bus experience this past trip.
I concur! AKL is my favorite deluxe. I was happy with the bus transportation and the feeling of the resort that it is away from the noise and stress of the parks. It gives you that "ahhhhh" feeling when you arrive like you are at some luxurious exotic location. Love not sharing busses w/ other resorts like the Epcot hotels and others.
