Does anyone know when they update the activities calendar? I am going at the end of the month and wondering what movies will be playing each evening.

Do you know if the official activities calender is posted yet for january?

Not where I usually find it, no. It is still showing December. Normally the new month is posted on the 2nd or 3rd, but with the holidays they may be late with January.

I know there is some pretty significant construction expected around WL. We were going to stay there, but the construction at WL and the availability of discounts at AKL made the decision to switch easy.

....any reason why? Just curious...
First, we LOVE WL....we stayed there in 2014 and 2015. However, I think the construction may be too much for a third time. With the playground gone, the beach closed, no more campfire and kid's movie night, and now the south wing shut off, I think we will enjoy the AKL more :) It's had construction both times we were there, and things are constantly changing (as I see on the WL thread). I think my sons, aged 6 and 4 will love AK just as much (they LOVE WL). We usually go to MK early several days, but this time we are only trying for rope drop one day, so the allure of the WL boat/bus wasn't as great. My hubby also worried about the construction and wanted to try something different. Once construction is over there we will probably stay again, but we are SUPER looking forward to trying AKL :)

I agree! I was so afraid my "woods view" at WL would be of bulldozed trees, as I have seen some people post!

We will be staying at AKL for the 1st time next month (woohoo!) and will be celebrating my son's 4th birthday while there. Can someone give me the condensed run down on ordering a cake?
Who do I call?
How much should I expect to pay?
How much notice do they need (his bday is Feb 3rd)?
What in the world is this zebra cake people keep telling me to order?
Thanks for the help :-)

We were also looking at the Wilderness for our upcoming stay, but the construction made me choose Animal Kingdom Lodge instead.

I know there is a cake chatter board that I stalk (yum) and they seem very helpful! Good luck! I'll be checking in this weekend! Yay!!!

Not sure on the zebra cake - but the zebra domes are small rounded deserts, but as they have alcohol in them not really geared towards 4 yr. olds.

I don't even eat cake, yet I follow it as well, just to see the pictures of the cakes, AKL seems to do a really good job based on pictures of the cakes I've seen posted.

Thanks ladies!
Virginia at the AKL private dinning line was so helpful and patient. The Zebra cake (a bigger version of the Zebra Domes I guess) has liquor in it apparently so she went step by step through all the options to find something more on par with a 4 yr old's tastes. The birthday boy, Rhett, is getting a marble cake with vanilla filling and chocolate icing, and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse decorations. Delivered after our dinner at Boma. He is going to LOVE it!

.....well, I am a lover of WL too, since it was my first deluxe, but once I stayed at AKL, I was HOOKED! Anyone who loves the WL also has a fondness for AKL, since they used the same architect for both resorts....and, your DSs are at the PERFECT age to enjoy all the amenities that the AKL has to offer!

Hi, first time staying at AKL (or any deluxe resort :)) coming up in March. It is a standard room, and would like to request something closer to the bus for older parents and child. I don't know the options are when I am able to do an online check in. Any suggestions or input would be appreciated on what to request (I know nothing is guaranteed) for that location. I believe it was suggested to ask for a room on the Kudu trail to increase the chance of seeing animals. Would I do that during online check in as well? Also, any overall suggestions for fun things there would be appreciated as well! Any information is much appreciated, thanks!
