Resort Thread Disney's ALL-STAR SPORTS Resort

Ok so in order for us to get FD we had to change from POP. We will be going Sept 25-30 and will be staying preferred. What I'm wondering is which buildings are considered preferred and since we will be driving which building would be best to request closest to the parking lot and food court. Please tell me that we made a good choice, lol. We have only stayed POP as you can see by my signature and am not sure what to expect here. Also are there usually cheerleaders or any other large groups at ASSp this week. Also is it ok for 2 adults with no children?

Surfs up
1 and 6 are preferred

Parts of building 1 has parking near by
Surfs up 6, not necessarily close to parking lot

Is Touring Plans room locator thing accurate? I booked a standard HA room with roll in shower with one king and one double bed. According to Touring Plans, that type of room is only in building 1 which is preferred.

Nope. Extremely INaccurate when it comes to room type, amenities, etc.

I really like the look of the Surfs Up section. Do you all think it's worth an extra $20/night though? I mean, it's not a lot but I'm trying to keep the costs down on this trip.

Never mind - for 9 nights it was $150 extra. The only sport theme I find cute is the surfs up section, so I changed to preferred. I'd also rather be as close to the food court as possible, since we tend to take our meals back to the room a lot at value resorts. I changed my reservation. Also it's not likely once we check in we'd be able to move if unhappy with the room, since due to my DD's fragile health we're going to request a VIP clean of the room.

Request "Building 6-close to End Zone Food Court".

Building 6 has rooms closer to End Zone than any of the rooms in Building 1.

Room # 6155(and the next few rooms) are literally a few seconds from End Zone(if you want a first floor room).

However those rooms do face Surfboard Bay,so if you're looking for a "quiet" room, you may want the "other" side of Building 6.:)

Thanks for this info,very helpful!

There are no "All Star" cheerleaders there in September. I don't know the Pop Warner and High School events. For All Star, most teams in the South East are not into full competition season until at least December. The Northern states and Texas the cheerleaders start competing usually around October. But I live in Florida and we do not get event producers holding All Star competitions until at least December.

This time next week I'll be at HS waiting for my room to be ready!! So excited. Doesn't matter how many times I go, still get those butterflies in my stomach,lol.. requested Homerun this go around, crossing my fingers! :goodvibes

i totally understand.

been staying at Sports since the month it opened and hit that place yearly.

excitement is always there for me also.

you will have so much fun!!

Isn't it a sight to see?

It has to be seen in person to understand how BIG it is!:)

This weekend every year the Football Field at All-Star Sports is known to teen aged boys as The Most Magical Place On Earth!!!!:)

We were witness to this too!! Craziness! We left Fri am though so we only dealt with one day of it. LOL re: teenage boys!

Thank you for this incredible thread! So much helpful info. I'm looking at Sports for late Sept/early Oct. I haven't stayed at Sports before. I have stayed at Music but went during Jan and with shared busing, it wasn't great for transpo. Sports looks to be much better for busing. I'd like a standard quiet room, top floor and don't have a big issue with an extra 5 min walk to get to the buses. I've read through the past 10 pgs or so and recommendations seem to be for Touchdown! Bldg 10, side opposite of football field. What are your opinions of the Hoops Hotel (basketball bldg) and Center Court? Am I right to ask at check-in for a room on the other side of the bldg from any pool or common area/field? For those who have stayed in the 50s section at POP, is the walk to eg Hoops about the same? eg 5 min fast walk to food court/buses? Thanks in advance for any reply.

nothing is wrong with the hoops or center court buildings but it is a longer walk to the food court and busses.
not much but a few minutes more.

i can not function without coffee first thing in the morning.
don't laugh but i find it hard to add the extra steps from the buidlings that go straight back to the outer areas at 6:00 am........

the back sections of touch down 10 and 7 are quiet and peaceful.
for TD 7, it has beautiful foliage and walking paths.
This is my second choice for location when I am at Sports.
The far end of both TD buildings is near the bleachers at the end of the football field.

When I have stayed at TD, if I am on the top floor/3rd, I do not hear the noise from the football field.
Floor 3 is good when you are facing that field.

You can request when you check in for any locations in the buildings.
It doesn't mean you will get them, but you can ask in case they are not occupied and in the mix of rooms to assign.

I know what you mean! I pack the Starbucks instant VIA coffee so I don't even have to walk to the cafeteria early a.m. LOL. My feet definitely feel the extra few mins walk after a few days but I just hoof it believing I may have a quieter/better sleep. Thanks for your advice! Much appreciated :flower3:

.

I bring a Black & Decker small single cup travel coffee maker. Best money spent - like around $15 or so from Amazon. It makes a nice real cup of coffee! Takes not too much suitcase space. Last trip I used it at Pop Century, and also had some good espresso ground coffee and disposable cups. Much better than Disney food court coffee!

I'm so with you. I need my coffee in my pj's. Many times, I go into the bathroom and have it so as to not wake others up!

I'm another Deluxe/Moderate fan who is now booked here because of FD and trying to talk myself into loving it. We're going to be a party of four split between two rooms (we've invited my DD's friend to go with us - not sharing a room with 3 teenagers including my 18 yr old son.) My DD really wants to be on Disney property and both of my kids love the idea of FD. My question for ASSp veterans is about the Water park and more tickets. I was thinking that we would hit the parks early and then spend a few hours in the afternoon at the water parks before going back to the parks in the evening. Assuming that I have a car how easy will this be to do?

What time of the year? In August you may have afternoon thunderstorms, so you may want to hit the water park early then head back after lunch, shower & then do a park.

I love free QSDP! It's great with kids! You can have so much flexibility!

The bus service seems great, but a car would be better since you may be wet! Those busses can really crank the A/C and it's brutal!
