Resort Thread Disney's ALL-STAR SPORTS Resort

I hope you love it as much as a lot of us in this thread do!

I'm sure I will. But to be completely fair, I've stayed at (in order of visits from first to most recent) Pop Century (x 3 since 2006), Port Orleans French Quarter, All Star Music, All Star Movies, Grand Floridian, Port Orleans Riverside, and Art of Animation (LM room). I've loved every single one, so I'm just excited to love a new resort! :rotfl: My only fear is that I want to try so many resorts, but I always want to go back to others that I've stayed at too.

I've also walked around Sports too, and enjoyed the resort itself.

Can't wait! :hyper:

I don't know if anyone else has booked or seen this room type yet, but we booked a 1 king 1double bed room at Sports for our vacation in May, I had never heard of this room type before so I triple checked to make sure it was legit and it is so Great!

But, how cramped is this room going to be, how do they fit those two bed types in the same room?

Does anyone have any info?

I just got off the phone with Disney and was told the rooms are available but they are accessible rooms only b/c the king beds are lower and easier to get in and out of. Interested to hear others experiences

I'm the same way! The only one I really don't have a burning desire to go back to is POR. I am booked at Sports this August and will book a bounceback to CSR Business Class for April :)

Oh nice! I hope I can get a good bounceback for next August when we go in July/Aug this summer.

Just switched from WL which I was so excited about to All Star Sports to save money. I was feeling really bummed about it but this thread helped me feel better :) Then I showed my two kids the resort on YouTube and they seemed really excited about it. So now I'm pretty excited, thank you for everyone's good posts. The CM I talked to today was the first rude CM I have talked to, and she didn't reserve the preferred section but at that time I was actually too scared to ask her one more thing so I left it. If we get a room far away from the front is it a very long walk? Trying to decide if it's worth calling back and paying extra. Thanks so much!

We were there in May...we stayed in touchdown 7. 5 minute walk to main pool and dining. I wouldn't pay extra unless you feel the need to be right next to the pool or dining hall. You can request to be close to bus and dining when you do online checkin. That is what I did and was happy with the location. Also, if you are farther to the back of the resort you are closer to the next all star resort (forget if it is movies or music.) They are all in a line... So you could actually walk to their dining and bus stop if you would prefer as well. Our son was 5, and he did fine with the short walk :)

We stayed in the baseball building in October last year. On the BACK side facing ASM's parking lot. It was pretty much the farthest away from the main entrance you could get! However, the walk from the baseball buildings to the main building was not bad. Infact the kids enjoyed racing across the football field every morning and every night. So to answer your question, I would say, no. It wouldn't really be worth the extra cash to save litrally one to two minutes TOPS! Save that cash for the parks! Enjoy!

My opinion is that you don't need to pay extra for the Surf's Up preferred section. Request Touchdown (buildings 7 or 10) and you're really close! From building 10, there's even a shortcut to buses around the front that's a neat trick.

But really, you can't go wrong with any of the sections. Each All-Star property is fairly compact.

I agree with the previous posters. The resort is so compact that no building is really too far of a walk :)

Ok I know how everybody says you don't stay in your room a lot so it doesn't matter what hotel. Here is my concern we were staying at AOA but got free dinning with a pincode for Thanksgiving and had to move us over to Sports. I went on trip advisor and read the reviews and some are good and some bad like really bad. I am the kind of person that really needs and like a clean room when I would like to rest. I have a child that will be taking naps for the 8 days we are there. Any ideas is it as bad as the reviews.

First of all: a shout out to my AS Sports homies. This thread is constantly getting buried in the abyss:rotfl2::rotfl2:

And to this quote: AS Sports has always been a great place to stay and the CM's take good care of you there. If you have any problems go to the front desk and they will fix it for you.

Good Luck!!!

Lustergirl one of these days we are going to be at Sports or Coronado at the same time!

I had my online check in this morning and I requested Surfs Up because it was a choice (I paid for Standard so we will see) and Close to Transportation.

We are already planning next May for CSR. I love this resort but will book a preferred room. Last time we stayed there they stuck in the boonies: Ranchos section. We are not big pool people and I want to near the foodcourt, main bar, and bus stop.

If I go solo I love staying at Sports and will book a standard room. Last time I got lucky and they put me right in touchdown section, real close to the main buildings.

:thumbsup2 Yeah! But keep it quiet what a great resort it is, please, because if demand went up, then so would rack rates... How many places in that resort are there for kids to run and hide and play and yell? There are giant basketballs for goodness sakes! It's like staying in a cartoon! Shhhhh!

;)

Don't worry about it. I think a lot of people would never set foot in a value resort to begin with:) Our very first stay was at AS Sports and we have been going back ever since. Got to admit though it has got too small if my whole family is going. Next may it is hubby, me, and my older son. We are staying at CSR. First time for my son.

Are there fridges in the rooms yet? This will be my first stay and last I read there weren't. And if there aren't, can I request one?

i stayed at Sports last September and again this past January.
fridges were in the room for building TD 10.

it was a decent size fridge and worked great.

i'll be back at Sports late September this year.
can not wait !!!
22nd stay there.

Haha Don't worry Sports seems to get the least amount of love around here so I think we are all safe! :thumbsup2

We are doing Sports in August and CSR the last week in April/first week in May so we will just miss you! I'm hoping to book a bounceback this August for CSR Business Class. I stayed there last January and loved it.
