Resort Thread Disney's ALL-STAR SPORTS Resort

hello! I jsut had to change a MYP from All Star Music to All Star Sports so that my parents could join us. We are going Dec 13-19, 2008. This will be my first time at All Star Sports, so I've come here to read up on it and to see pictures. I know my Mom, Dad, my dh and my son will like it, they LOVE sports any and all sports (but especially football), but will me and my princess dd like it? :)

I'm not sure how old your daughter is but, I'm pretty sure she will like it. We had a rather large group with us when we went, with people of all ages. There were a few younger girls (5-10). They all seemed to like it. I think some of the younger ones were amazed by how some of the things there are 'bigger than life' so to speak.

I'm going to be there Dec 16 to 21 with my DS20, and DD25. We're taking advantage of the Visa Free Dining, and this will be our first stay at All Star Sports. I have stayed at Pop 4x, but this will be DS first stay at a Value!
This thread is helping me get excited...

maxiesmom they do not have a place to shoot hoops. Sorry:sad1:

I was jsut looking at pics of the all star sports at allears and saw a basketball hoop and a small court area. It looks to me like it would be enough to shoot hoops!

That is not actually a normal basketball hoop. As with everything else at the all stars it is way bigger than a normal hoop. There really isn't anywhere to play any sports at the all stars. I know that it seems ironic that there are no sports at the "sports" hotel. Everything is just there for the themeing. :upsidedow

2. The sign stated that the food court was open from 7am-11pm

Thank you for answering my question! I was thinking it closed at 11pm, but wasn't sure.

No ping pong table.

I did see lots of kids play football in the football field. The ground is made of some type of soft stuff. The field part where they can play isn't the biggest....but it 'will do', and PLENTY of kids/families/groups were doing it.

The baseball section --- I didn't see anywhere where you could 'play'.

Didn't go to the basketball or tennis area.

oops! that sure looks real though huh? :upsidedow

I know what you mean. I made a point of going to see it when I was there to let people know if you can play or not. It is about as tall as the three story hotel. I am sure you could still dribble a ball on that court but I don't think even Michael Jordan could make that shot. ;) Also, I think the hoop itself is bigger than normal. I guess Disney thinks you'll be too busy at the parks to do much else (I know we were)! :cool2:

Well, i just booked a last minute trip with a code, and the only thing that was open was All Star Sports... i usually stay at Pop. I was a little worried about the bus situation, but seeing that we have our own bus to the parks, and on the way home we share, but we are the first drop off, was encouraging.... i'm spoiled by Pops bus... :) Anyway, this will be my first time here, i'm very excited!!!

After you have been please let us know how you found the bus situation compared to POP.

I am staying at the Sports in 4 weeks time (for second time) and have stayed at the Music many times and never had a problem with the buses. We often get our own bus but when we do share Sports get picked up first and dropped off first so that is one advantage of staying in Sports over Music.

That said the 3 All Stars always get separate buses when returning from MK and I think from Epcot. I don't ever recall picking up at the Movies and so am under the impression they alway get their own bus.

My bus concern is that I will likely be in an ECV. How does it go for those folks coming back with all of the other All Star people on the bus? Any advice?

People in ECVs/wheelchairs have priority getting on the bus. The bus driver closes the doors and just see's to these people first and then opens the door for people to walk on. The majority of buses have the back door entrance stairs convert into a lift so you drive your ECV onto the flattened down stairs, then the driver pushes a button to raise the ECV up and then you drive into the bus.

Thanks smokey. My comment was about getting off of the bus, though. I foresee there being a packed bus and 1 or 2 wheelchairs trying to get off at All Star Sports with others standing who arent' getting off til Movies/Music. Maybe it doesn't really happen, but that's why I'm asking.

When we went to ASSP last September, we almost always saw a separate bus line for each of the All Star resorts. So, even if the bus were packed (and they often were), I suppose that they would empty completely at each resort.

Other than that, I think it would be incredibly rude not to give way to a person who needs it. Just getting down from the bus a couple of minutes should not represent a major inconvenience for anyone capable to do so.

Regards,

Luis

Usually the Driver is pretty clear about the rights of those in wheelchairs ! At Pop I have seen a driver make impatient/rude people get off till the wheelchairs are loaded .The only problem I have with this is when the person in a wheelchair has 10 people with them !! and they all get a seat while others have to stand . Now if they were first in line no problem but when they arrive just as the bus pulls up and their is a long line I don't feel they should get a seat. Get on the bus yes but not a seat!!

Will do!! BTW, does anybody know what order your are dropped off from the ME? For Pop, you are always the first dropped off. Thanks!

If it is a bus going to more than one of the All Stars then the driver will ask you when you get on the bus as to which one you are going to. He will then help you get off the bus at your stop and if neccessary ask other passengers to get off temporarily if there were to be in the way.

When we used ME --Magical Express, correct? There are seperate lines. Make sure you enter the correct one. Don't be like me, haha walking up through the Pop century line. There is a line designated for all of the All Star Resorts. All Star Sports is the first, then Music and lastly movies.
