Resort Thread Disney's ALL-STAR SPORTS Resort

Dh is wondering if there is much to the grounds if he & I want to take a quiet walk after our big kids are in bed? We are booked into the CBR right now, which we know has nice walkways, but for the cheaper price at ASSp, we are very tempted to change.

Any thoughts on this?

Andrea

Yeah, you can walk around the resort, but it's not a path around a lake like at CBR. It's just walkways (some wide) to the resorts other buildings, etc. At night it can be cool because of all the lighting and oversize things (with lighting) that they have....but it's not 'as nice'....

You would basically just be walking the paths to the rooms, pool, market, etc.

But, a nice romantic walk with your husband should be great anywhere!!!!! Have a great time!

I enjoyed walking to the other All Star Resorts to see the different theming.

We just got back last night from 9 days at ASSp - had a blast! I'll be happy to answer any questions :goodvibes

How were the buses??? The crowds???

Did you take any resort pictures???

We have 12 days until our vacation and I would love to hear anything you
want to tell us!! I'm very excited!!

i don't know how i have missed this thread!!!

i adore staying at all stars sports.
the first year i stayed there was the year it was built.

i just came back from my 19th stay there.

i consider this resort as my "home away from home"

now, all the rooms have been redone.
for those of you that will be staying there for the first time, you will see sports at it's finest.

the bus schedule was good most of the time on this last trip.
the bus would pick up at sports first in the morning, then circle to music and movies.
you can guarantee having a seat by being the first on.
you are also the first off on return trips from the parks.

at 3:00 each day i was there, each resort had it's own bus.
at that point, my waits for busses to the park at that time of the day were longer than any other time period there. i had to allow myself more travel time when i left from the resort to a designated area.

i had a 5:00 adr at ohana's on one day. i went to the bus stop at 4:10.
this was the longest wait i had during my trip: 37 minutes.

other than that, the busses were coming every 20 minutes at the most.

i've already booked my 09 trip for the motherland.
all stars sports it is....

since codes have been coming out with great deals the past 5 years, many of the resorts sell out of those packages. only a certain number of rooms are available on some codes.

you will find that sports is usually the last resort to fill up on the package codes.

if you are making a last minute reservation for a resort, chances are you can find availability at sports.

The busses were great! Sports is the first All-Star pick-up on the way to the parks and the first drop-off back at the resort - that was a fantastic surprise and saved us buckets of travel time, I'm sure!!! :goodvibes

The crowds at the Disney parks were INSANE! I was expecting much lower congestion and was disappointed, frankly. Oh well, that just meant that we really had to get to the parks at rope drop and do the rides at the top of our lists first to avoid the massive line-ups :thumbsup2

The room was great! I was expecting a much smaller room from the pictures I've seen here on the DIS and was pleasantly surprised at the room size. There was a fair amount of floor space for my boys to put their Lego sets together and play jedi with their light sabres LOL :lmao:

The swimming pools were great - the main pool (the Surf's Up pool) is quite large and the other pool (I think it's called the Homerun pool, but we called it the baseball pool lol) is smaller, but just as fun. The lifeguards were absolutely fantastic at both pools (yep, we used both of the pools lol) - they play games periodically with the kids, throw pool toys into the pool for everyone to use and are extremely diligent about making sure everyone is safe.

The food court was decent - it was very busy in the mornings and at dinner time, but it wasn't insane busy kwim? Getting the resort mug was great because the beverage station is right by the resort room side of the food court, so you can avoid any crowds and zip in, get your coffee or whatever and zip right out. The food quality was fine, I was pleasantly surprised there too. My favourite was the chicken alfredo - I had that both times we were at the hotel around dinner time and thought it was perfectly fine. My sons loved any of the food in the Mickey head plates - we took 8 of those plates home (they're disposable plastic). I'm hoping that my 6yo son will eat more veggies if they're on a Mickey plate :rotfl2:

The safe in the room was quite small - it won't hold a laptop computer, for instance. We used it for our passports and our cash.

Mousekeeping was great - we got a few towel "bows" on our toilet :rotfl: and the boys' stuffed animals were rearranged a few times, much to the amusement of all of us (who knew that stuffies watched TV while the humans are out of the room?) LOL

Any other questions I'd be happy to answer - it was a great resort, we all enjoyed it very much! :woohoo:

I just googled AllStars Sports resort map and found it then saved it to favs.!!

I have never stayed here yet, but have done some research!

Surf's Up is the preferred section, looks very nice!

I'm heading to ASSp in January with my dance team (we're performing with Magic Music Days). I'm coordinating the trip, and since ASSp was the only value I hadn't stayed at, that was the winner.

We had a pretty bad experience with the buses at ASMu in August, so I'm glad to read from the PPs that Sports hasn't been too bad lately.

I'm excited to see how I like it in comparison to Music, Movies, and Pop!

We have a prefered room booked for next month. Can anyone tell me if the resorts refurbishment has been completed? I know it was in the works several months back, just wondering if we can expect the Surf's up buildings to be all done :goodvibes

Hi there :goodvibes We just returned from our stay at ASSp Oct 16-25. Our room was #6156, which is Surf's Up Building #6, first floor, second room from the end, facing the Surf's Up pool. The two Surf's Up buildings #1 and #6 are the preferred buildings at ASSp. The layout is linked on the first page of this very informative thread. I posted my review of our experience there in this thread and on a separate thread in the Resorts forum.

Have a great trip!!!

All finished! The rooms were comfortable, clean and updated :goodvibes

If you are going this Holiday Season.... don't forget to post some pics.

Thanks!

Sorry if this has been answered earlier.

We're thinking of staying here in May and I heard that the food court is being reburbished. Is this true and if so will it be done by the time we get there in May.

Thanks
