Resort Thread Disney's ALL-STAR SPORTS Resort

I'm so excited! It's my first time on-site and my boyfriend's first EVER time at Disney :)

Over 200 days to go still.....

1. I didn't see any construction going on
2. The sign stated that the food court was open from 7am-11pm
3. Buses were fine, but no overhead...so it got hot quick. I never had to wait long.

Some other points:
- The food court was SLAMMING in the morning. We would just walk through it and not use it during this time.
- The baseball pool was WAY less crowded than the main pool
- Room was clean and fine. A/C worked great. Never heard our neighbors
- Hint: in the food court, when you get a counter service meal, you can pick your dessert and go back and get it within 90 minutes. One of the dessert options was an ice cream bar, so this way....your ice cream never melted. After you ate, you'd just go back and get the ice cream.
- There is a big TV to watch in the back of the food court with sheets and crayons for the kids
- the have Rasberry Tea as one of their drink offerings
- Lifeguards were on top of their game. I never saw them sitting down, they were CONSTANTLY walking around the pool
- The store is medium sized. Lots of different things. Lots of ESPN items.
- Gameroom was nice
- Resort was cool to look at during the night. Although, the football section and other sections seemed 'cooler' than the baseball section. I was in the inside of the football field (which was VERY cool)...BUT, teenagers played football out there till midnight. We brought a fan, so it drowned out the noise every weekend.
- There were no DO NOT DISTURB signs for the door.
- Buses to parks- no other pick ups. But bus line to go home was for ALL the All Sport resorts. All Sports was always the first to be dropped off.
- Staff was always nice to me

Thanks ..Few more ..What does no overhead mean :confused3 ?Was it loud in the room in Homerun from the teenagers ?This is the section we want as it is poolside and standard right!!

'No Overhead' meant you had to wait for the bus in the sun. Some resorts have benches and covered areas to give you shade. This place didn't. There is a section off to the side of the building where you can wait, but you take the chance of NOT getting on the bus because you would be last in line.

The baseball area seemed quiet. I think baseball has 2 buildings. If you aren't facing the pool though, you will hear nothing but traffic, trucks, carts,....stuff like that All the 'goings on' of the resort is on that side. It was a noisy area (if you were on the other side rather than the pool side). We could hear everything (and see between the buildings) that it was the area where all the 'behind the scenes of a hotel' were. That being said....the rooms on the pool side were quiet, except the noise from people swimming.

Something else. The two laundry rooms are adjacent to both pools. They were always empty. I did my laundry in 1 1/2 hours while out at the pool. $2.00 to wash/ $2.00 to dry. Took 2 times to dry. Washing was 30 minutes, drying was 30 minutes.

We are going to request poolside as that's what DD wants !!Not first floor soo hopefully pool noise wont be bad plus it is the less busy of the 2 !! Our friend really likes the idea of this section asthe football field is right there . Isn't high on my list but the boys I'm sure will enjoy it ! Can you walk across it to the food court? Here I go again more ???? How bad is the morning breakfast time and when is it the busiest??

You'll hear the same pool noise regardless of what floor you are on. But the noise isn't bad (unless you get a huge group of teenagers in the pool at once).

Yes, you can walk right through the football field to get to the food court.

The pool view at the other pool is 100x prettier though. The pool at the baseball area is very plain. The main pool is pretty.

We never ate breakfast at the food court, but we walked through it several times to get to the busses. SLAMMED is the word that comes to mind. The 8am breakfast crowd seemed to be bigger than the 10am breakfast crowd.

Some other stuff: When you check in, ask for extra towels. You'll use them if you swim.

Don't order the chicken alfredo. Every single person I saw get it, regretted it (no, I didn't try it).

Is there someplace you can actually shoot a few hoops? Do they sell basketballs at all? My niece loves to play, and that would be a fun break during the day.

Did they have hairdryers in the rooms?

Yes, all rooms have hair dryers.

Basketball hoop?...hhhmmmm, not sure. I didn't see any, but I didn't get to go around the entire resort.

The store sells footballs, small basktballs. But they are very small. The pool doesn't allow 'real' footballs in the pool. They have to be made of soft material (this is 'as per the lifeguards')

The bar was HOPPING at night time. It was crazy.

By the way, you don't pull up and unload your stuff. Wait till you find out where you are. There will be a specific parking lot you are 'assigned to' and then you bring in your luggage from there.

LOL. Maybe that's because they were all in our room! We had at least 5 do not disturb signs inside the plastic display case on our door. The only problem was we couldn't get them out!

The refillable mug is the same at all the other resorts (as per this year). It has black/silver/blue handles (your choice) and a blue lid. The decoration on them is of the 'castle in the sky thing'.

But I have to admit ---- almost 50% of the people filling their mug had DIFFERENT mugs from past trips. You could tell because ALL mugs are the same now, and they had the big fat ones that had the names of the different resorts on them.

I don't have a picture of them, but if you do a little research, I think I remember someone had posted a pic before.

The 'Do Not Disturb' signs were on the back of the door? hhmm...I don't remember seeing one. Perhaps I missed it all together. I wouldn't put it past me! he he

I can email various resort pics if anyone wants me to. Just send me a private message and give me your email address in it.

Thanks for all the info posted here! We are trying ASSp for the first time in December. I saw some mention of a refurb being completed. How recent was this and what did they refurbish?
