Resort Thread Disney's ALL-STAR SPORTS Resort

When we stayed at All Star Sports in Dec we never had to wait over 15 minutes for a bus. Now I know it is a slower time...well it is suppose to be anyway. But we never had to wait long for a bus and alot of the the time the bus did not go to the other All Star resorts because the bus was full.

We were there in December also and not once did our bus go to the other All Star resorts. It always went straight to the parks. We loved that! :cool1:

I use to be a huge Pop fan however the last time I was there in Sept 07 I had a problem with cigarette smoke coming into my room through the bathroom fan so I am changing to Sports. How is the end of Feb beginning of March? Are there any sport teams there?

We are staying at sports for the first time this year. I have stayed at music and movies before. Last year at music I never remember sharing a bus going to the parks. I remember going mid day and the bus only having 10 people on it and we went straight to epcot. I know on the magical express you do share a bus and stop at all the all star hotels.

Tempted to switch to Sports this summer during free dining to avoid the crowds and try something new. I know slushies are not available; but what about apple juice? Can you refill you mugs with apple juice from the soda dispensers? Any kind of cheesecake available? Is the Touchdown buildings considered preferred?

I believe the only drinks available are soft drinks like soda. AS Sports has the greatest chocolate cheesecake. The touchdown buildings are not considered preferred but they are really close to the food court. The preferred buildings are Surf's Up #1 and #2.

I'm hoping to stay at the ASSports in September. Does anyone know if all the rooms have recently been refurbed or just some of them?

I had heard that when they were doing the renovations they talked about adding the privacy curtain like the modes have between the sink area and the rest of the room. Did they? That is my only concern with not upgrading this year. The tub area is way too small and get too hot to drag everything in there before you shower, and with an 8 yo DS and 12 yo DD a little privacy would be nice.

We stayed in a renovated room (football section) in Dec and there was no privacy curtain.

Yes - thanks for all pictures and information....staying here for the first time next weekend and could not be more excited!

Are there many large groups/sports teams during the first-second week of June? We are not going this summer but a trip planned in 2009! If someone is visiting Sports during June please report back about any large groups during this time. We love the values but sometimes I am scared about all the reviews about large groups staying at the values. I KNOW my 7 yr old DS would love this resort.

I'm hoping that someone who has been recently can tell us if all the renovations are done. We want to request the tennis area.

We were actually in the Tennis section last Sept and at that time Tennis was 1/2 way done! Our room wasn't but we found out it was the next week! Have a great time in the new rooms. The main pool reopend the day we left on Sept 29.

I saw on another thread that the renovation was complete in March of 08.

I'm so happy to hear that all the rooms were redone. Our first WDW trip we stayed at the new All Star Sports. That was a long time ago, and I was a little worried about what shape the rooms would be in all these years later.

Does anyone know if large teams are usually there in late September. I figured with most schools just starting back that groups would be low.

Also, we are not using the buses much and have requested preferred rooms, what would be the best thing to put on our reservation request as far as room location?

ARe there any fridge swaps going on for sports now?

Sorry about the questions but I like to be thorough.
I am sure I will have more questions as time goes on.

I am really looking forward to this trip:yay:

I am trying to find the same thing out about the large groups in Sept. We are going the 15 - 20th. This will be our first time at Sports resort and I am having mixed feelings about it. I think I'm reading too many reviews about it!!
Hopefully someone will be able to let us know about the groups! ;)
