Resort Thread Disney's ALL-STAR SPORTS Resort

I've been lurking on this thread all afternoon. We booked our last minute reservation today for June 8-13. I've never stayed at a value resort. Actually the only disney resort I have ever stayed at is AKL for our honeymoon. Usually we stay in Daytona Beach and drive over for a day at Disney. We just got back last Saturday from our beach trip. We took my DS1 to MK for the first time last Monday. He enjoyed it so much that we decided to take a Disney trip in two weeks. Will the crowds be horrible? It was not that bad last Monday. Also, are the buses really crowded during this time of year? I'm scared of that with carrying along DS. Last question, if we decide to drive to the parks will we still have to pay $11 to park or will we get a pass for staying on property? Thanks!!!

I can't answer any of your questions, except the pass part. If you have a vehicle you and stay in a WDW resort you get a pass, so you don't have to pay for parking. From what I heard the buses aren't that bad, at least that is what I am hoping for since that is what I will be using.

Normally, we pay for preferred, but I would rather stay in the football section. So I am thinking about removing the preferred from our room reservation and reqesting the section I want. I know that a request is not
guaranteed and I could end up in the boonies. I was just wondering if the majority of people get what they ask for???

I requested Sports for our December 2007 trip and then requested Sports for my trip with my sister in April 2008. Both times we were given Sports. Sports is very close to the food court and the bus pick up. I always ask for third floor, quiet area. I prefer building 7.

Room request really rely on how busy the resort is. If it is super busy it is more difficult to grant the request.

Actually from walking around the resort there is nothing that is to far away. We stayed at Carribean Beach and had to walk super far. This resort is really not that spread out at all. It would be a little bit of a walk for some of the farthest rooms but nothing to far in my opinion.

Me & DGS9 (my little sports nut) are booked here for one night in Oct (first time at All Stars). You can be sure I will take plenty of pics to share. Looking forward to our stay, even if it is only for a night.

Update: Actually, we will not be staying at Assports afterall. Got a good deal on CBR for that one night.

Subbing! Stayed at all star sports in 2001 and have been back 2 WDW twice since then, stayed at POP and CSR... but are going with sports Sept 1-7 this year....Loving the pics of the new renovations!

I definitely will share photos. I took many of CSR last year with my new camera which I posted with my report of that resort (http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1549481 wow, embarrassed to see I never finished it) so am very much looking forward to sharing pics of ASstars too. Let's see what I can accomplish staying just one night.

We are staying Sept 20-24. I wondered if the pool area had lockers/showers? We have 2 rooms, but it would speed things along sometimes if the guys could grab a quick shower there while dd and I used the rooms. Anyone know?

If that is your questions the answer is they do not have a locker room with showers at All Star Sports.

We loved All Star Sports. We are looking forward to going back in December. We are still unsure of the dates but decided that we will go back to this resort

Actually, we three going to Sports! First time at ASsports 8/5 - 12 with DH & DS11 and cannot wait! Thank-you Ronald Duck and others for the pictures you posted. So nice to see the resort and great to hear of the refurbishments. Has anyone stayed in the baseball section? It looks like a close walk to the ASMu bus stop and pool? Just wondering. since DS hopes to stay in either baseball or football. Do the groups performing at the Wide World of Sports Complex usually stay at ASsports? like the little league championship groups in August?

The Baseball section is just past the Football section. I thought it was a short walk from Baseball to the food court/bus pickup at All Star Sports. There is a pool in the Baseball section but the main pool is not that far at all.

Alot of the sports teams stay at All Star Sports.

Hopefully someone else can answer your question about the ASMu pool/bus stop.

I don't think it's closer to the bus stop at ASMu from Baseball. We stayed in Football in April and walked over to ASMu just to check out their gift shop and do some pin trading with the CMs. As MickMan said, it's not far to the bus stop at ASSports from Baseball. The pool in front of Baseball was being refurbished in April.

Does anyone know if there are a lot of teams at the end of June? I know it will be crowded as I think just about all the resorts are fully booked the week we are going.
