Resort Thread Disney's ALL-STAR SPORTS Resort

Someone let us know about any groups. Please! If they were to be there I would just consider going back to Music that week.

There used to be this awesome thread that listed all of the big conventions and where they were staying, but I haven't seen it in a looooong time. :(

I read on another thread that it's sometimes helpful to check out the Wide World of Sports website to see if they have anything listed there. I will be at the ASSps from Sept 24 - 30 and didn't see anything on the WWoS site...but I am not sure if that's a complete list?

I don't know if there are any large groups in September. We just returned from Sports on Saturday. During the week we saw a big sign that said something about "Welcome Spring Training. . ." That large sign was at the entrance to the resort from the parking lot near the Home Run buildings. We never could figure out who that group was and we never saw a lot of people who looked like they were in a group. We would leave for the parks anywhere from 7:45 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and return anywhere from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. No problem with a group at all.

A few years ago one of our local high school played in a football tournament in late September - stayed at the All Star Sports. With the price of gas, I don't think you are going to see teams from places like NY going to long weekend tournaments. This was all through the WWOS - so checking their website should give you a good idea of things going on while you are there.

thanks for the info on WWOS. I will keep checking to see if large groups are coming. Not that it will make much of a difference because with free dining the options are limited right now.

My family will be stayng at ASSp Aug 5th-10th. Switched from ASMu when I wanted to add a couple of days to our trip and there was no availability.
I think my DS9 will love this place!!!;)

BTW.....this is a great thread!! Love all the pictures!!:thumbsup2

hello, we have decided on a quick trip and can't decide which value to stay at. We've stayed at ASMo and Pop twice, we'd like to try either ASsp or ASmu.
Youngest DS wants ASsp, oldest ASmu. DD don't care just happy she's going to the Pirates/Princess party!!;)
For those of you that have stayed at ASsp, can you tell me if it is worth it? Will I be dissappointed after Pop the past 2 times. I want the kids to have fun, but want DH and I to as well !
Any info would be highly appreciated, I need to make a decision soon before all the rooms are gone.
Thanks! :)

Just a quick question for those of you that have stayed at ASSp since the refurbishment.
Is there a curtain separating the sink/vanity area from the rest of the room? I just noticed a pic posted of an ASMu room on another thread, and it had the curtain.

TIA

I was in a king room in Football Building 7 in December and no curtain. I just returned from a double room in Football Building 10 and no curtain.

Thanks, DJT!!

Thanks for the reply, MickMan!

I wonder why ASMu would have them and Sports doesn't? I thought at first that maybe it was a pic of the Family suite, but I'm sure it wasn't.:scratchin

Another All Sports lover checking in! :thumbsup2

We were there April 12th - 26th and was put in Touchdown (Building 10) in a Kingsize room. The room was rennovated, very clean and was a good size for us (2 adults).

We were two minutes from the food court, which we found to be good for the food selection. All fast-food, but still good.

We found the busses to run regular and the lines to queue there were always organised.

The front desk CM's were always happy to help with any problems or bookings that we wished to make too.

We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again - infact there's a distant trip in the pipeline for 2010...just to keep me sane in knowing that one day I'll be back there again

I checked the WWoS for my dates and there are a couple groups during my time, but after digging through the information on those groups' different websites I discovered that one group is staying at Coranado and the other are not staying together as a group--they have a bunch of different hotels listed on their site.

So I'm happy. :teeth: (My dates are August 12-19)

Hi, Glad to find this thread. We need one night in a value before going to our main resort. We have stayed one night at POP before and enjoyed that very much. DGS9 is a sports nut, though, and I think he would love to stay at ASsports, even if it is only for a night. We love trying new resorts. Thanks for all the info and great pics!
