Resort Thread Disney's ALL-STAR MUSIC Resort

This was my first & last time staying at all-stars. This is our last night at music the rooms are very dated, and for us lacking that Disney feel. No complaints on the food, been using the food truck on property or going over to sports due to renno. Just not for us. Back to POP or POR. :(

Does anyone have the window and or door dimensions for the rooms?
Starting on my decorations but want to make sure i have things mapped out and spaced properly.

TIA :surfweb:

I got bedbugs at Pop. To each their own.

Thanks so much for all of the information on this thread! It's so helpful!

We are so excited to start planning our trip for December 2015 (probably the 19th-27th). There will be 10 of us--2 couples, 1 single, and a family of 5 ages 11, 9, and 5 at the time of trip. While several of us have stayed at ASMu before and loved it, this is our first onsite trip altogether. The last time any of us stayed onsite was 2008 so we have a lot to relearn. :)

We are exploring which room options might be best for our group. Booking 4 rooms seems to be the best option as it is cheaper than the family suites and would give everyone regular beds and more privacy. This is what we are leaning towards. However, some of us have stayed in the family suites, liked them, and would be open to staying in them again. It seems like it may be easier for us to stay closer together in the same section if we booked 2 family suites. We would prefer to be in the same general area and not spread out too far from each other. While we don't have to have connecting rooms, it would be ideal for the family of 5 and plus 1 who will be sharing 2 of the rooms. I read somewhere else that getting connecting rooms at ASMu is harder than at the other resorts. I'm not sure if that is true or not but it seems plausible since they might have taken out some of the connecting rooms when they put in the suites. Booking the family suites would guarantee us a location closer to the food court and transportation which I think would be ideal for our parents. However, I think that they might prefer having their own private room. We have considered booking 2 rooms and 1 family suite, but does that lessen our chances to being in the same section? Most of us have stayed at Jazz and adore it with its rose garden so ideally we would like to stay there, but we know that there's no guarantee on room requests. So many things to consider! I think our main goal is to stay relatively close to each other and not too far away from transportation. Of course we will be happy with whatever we get, but any tips on increasing our chances for that are appreciated.

I am mainly curious to get some expert opinions and advice for booking with a larger group. It's so great to be planning to stay there again! :)

I can't really offer an expert opinion, as our first stay at All-Star Music will be in 2 days. However, I believe the family suites are scattered among Jazz & Calypso, intermingled with regular rooms. I would think you'd have a good chance of getting one suite and two rooms near each other (which is also what I'd recommend--works well for the parents/kids, and gives the whole group access to a kitchenette).

Based on our experience traveling with a large group several years ago, at All Star Sports, I think you drastically increase your chance of being near each other if you check in on the same day, and at the same time if possible. We traveled a day later than the rest of the family last time, and they all got 4 rooms in a row, while ours was in the next building.

When doing the online check-in, what kinds of requests can you make if you've booked a suite? Is there such a thing as a suite with a water view?

Thanks! I appreciate you sharing your experience. It's good to hear that most of your party was close together. I appreciate the tip about checking in together. How exciting that you leave in two days! I hope you have a great time and hope you will let us know about your stay at ASMu!

After talking to my sister today, we are leaning towards getting two standard rooms and a family suite or booking four standards requesting at least two connecting. We don't feel we need two family suites and are happy to save the extra money.

We are curious to know if they have any connecting rooms in the Jazz section or if all of the connecting rooms there have been converted to family suites. Has anyone ever stayed in connecting rooms there? We just want to know if the request to be in Jazz Inn would contradict with a request for connecting rooms. If it did, we might request the Broadway section instead if we go with the four standard room option. It looks super cute and it sounds like it's not that much further than Jazz.:thumbsup2

We are staying here the end of sept in a family suite. Since those are pretty much in a preferred location, I don't have any additional room requests. And since this is our first visit, I thought it might be good to go through the "normal" check in procedure. However, I've heard that when you do online check in they ask for your approximate arrival time... Is this to try & have a room ready when you get there? I'm planning to check in about 10am, and figured we'd head to MK and our room would be ready & waiting for us after dinner... But if it's ready right away, that would be best... If we do online check in is there a better chance of it being ready early? I know, no guarantees!

Last August, we stayed in a family suite and did online check-in. We arrived in the morning, and our room just so happened to be ready. I was all prepared to lounge by the pool or venture to one of the parks, but our suite was waiting for us! I am certain this is not always the case!! Hope you encounter the same luck on your trip!

We weren't impressed either. For 67 a night it was passable. But we had to call 3x to get out reserved pack and play, one pool was closed, and the hair dryer was busted. Meh. I thought the theming at Movies was a lot better.

Does any one have the menu to the food court in the arcade?

We are here right now and I haven't seen a formal menu.

They have available (all individually packaged) bagels, muffins, cookies/desserts, wraps (several different kinds), sandwiches, a few kids' items, fruit . . . not much else. Also some packaged chips (like Lays, etc).

There is also a food truck at breakfast only which has some hot items. I haven't used it but my husband likes their breakfast sandwiches.

Thank You, checking in for 1 night and wanted to know what our options will be for dinner/ :)

There was a food truck there around dinner time, in early August. Maybe they have stopped that. I thought the food truck was a good idea.

two days there. Room was Motel 6 with peeling paint and needed updating badly. We were in Calypso 0423. My kids were in Calypso 0634. When I made the reservation the TA made it for a standard room and the family suite. Unless I had said something (and they graciously, in their opinion) upgraded me we would not have been in the same building or anywhere near each other since I had a standard room.

Once we were done registering they told me my room was ready but not the family suite. My room still had trash on the table and some cleaning to be done. It wasn't ready to be our room yet despite what Housekeeping had said. The family suite wasn't ready until around 3:00 pm.

Food truck was nice addition since the food court wasn't open but it was only there for breakfast not for dinner. We did take the offered transportation to all star sports to eat and it was efficient coming every 15 minutes or so and had hours from very early to very late.

Bus service was 3 resort sucky. We waited over 30 minutes, partly in the pouring rain, for a bus to come when we left Blizzard Beach at closing. I asked the bus driver about the delay and he said he had been there 20 minutes before, not true, and since it is a 19 minute ride from Blizzard Beach to All Star Music a bit impossible. Rarely caught the first bus coming through and we only traveled to Downtown Disney and Blizzard Beach. My fondness for other resorts and their bus service .....

As an aside we ate at T-Rex and had the worst experience ever, and I have eaten there a number of times before. I think the issue was the waiter and his inability to wait his tables. Got a manager's apology and my husband's dinner taken off the bill but it made for a long evening.

I always say that I will only stay at moderates or above but sometimes you have to adjust. I am at Art of Animation in October and Shades of Green in January so I do vary my vacation experience. If I can help it I won't stay at an All Stars resort again - I was reminded, this past week, why I hadn't been to one in awhile.

So what does that food truck serve anyway? Specifically for Breakfast ( though I'm sure others would be interested in the dinner menu? )

Can you get coffee any where?
