Resort Thread Disney's ALL-STAR MOVIES Resort

Hi!!
Looks like we'll be staying at AS Movies the next time we visit WDW! We were at the AS Music in 08 and 09. Wanted to stay at Movies then too, but the rooms were not yet refurbished, so we chose Music instead. For this next trip, we actually wanted to stay at the Art of Animation (standard room). However, it looks like the standard rooms there will not be available when we visit. So it's back to All Star! And Movies it will be! We did not book a preferred room. Instead, our agent will request that we be placed in the Mighty Ducks section since it's close to the As Music main building. Honestly, we'll be happy at ANY section they put us in. They all look so cute!

We won't be there till Nov 2012, but I'm already excited!

AoA won't be open till next year in June. And the regular rooms are rumor to not be ready till Dec.

Yup. I realise that AoA will only be completed in 2012 and the Standard Rooms will not be ready till Dec 2012. I'm visiting in Nov-Dec 2012! Was hoping to tbe able to book it for my trip, but alas. The Disney booking site won't allow it. No matter though. It's AS Movies for us!

No, it's a trial at All Star Sports only. Unless they added them at the other All Stars this morning.

We usually take a towncar svc and stop for groceries enroute to ASMo...this year we're doing ME. Now I'm thinking maybe we should use a grocery delivery svc to get bottled water to the room and some other items. Maybe even soda and skip the resort mug!

Here are some picks from out trip 5/29 thru 6/6 2011. We stayed in MD bldg 2. we were towards the end near a parking lot. We spent a lot of time at the Music Pool and food court in addition to the pools and food court at Movies.

The first few pictures are of the refurbed rooms.

the next few are the Movies food court including a Magical Moment when CMs came out and did sundae making with the kids.

And the last few are of the MD pool area.

Just popping in to say we'll be staying at ASMo for one night Sept. 30th. We're switching to a vacation home for the rest of our week, but I wanted to be on-site for the night so I can do MNSSHP and then the Halloween5k the next morning and take advantage of resort transport.

The only category left when I booked yesterday was preferred, but I'm ok paying the upcharge for one night.

Hopefully someone who's been there more recently can give you a better answer but to the best of my knowledge they are going in building order. They were working on Bldg 3 when we were there at the beginning of June, they are estimated to be finished with all Buildings in November so they are probably through bldg 6? But that's just a guesstimate.

Subbing to the thread.....hoping that all rooms are refurbed by the time we come in mid-November! What are the chances they won't be? This is the ONLY reason we're staying here...the refurb looks great!

We are DVC owners for VWL but are going to Disney with our DD7's dance team in Feb. SO excited to try this resort out for the first time!

C&G, you said you stayed in Mighty Ducks. Was it convenient to use the buses at AS Sports? From the maps it looks like you can just walk across a parking lot to their bus stop if the one at ASMo is busy. Also, coming home from the parks if there is a bus for ASSports and not for ASMo you could take that bus and be close to your room.

Now I am thinking of changing my request from Preferred/Connecting Toy Story Building to just Connecting Dalmatians/Pongo Building.

Does anyone know if all of Pongo is Preferred? I have two rooms booked and if I can save $200 by not booking Preferred I might as well.

I thought all Dalmations were preferred,but I could be wrong
