Resort Thread Disney's ALL-STAR MOVIES Resort

Were the ground floor request online..or you did those on the phone as well. I never do online checkin and I usually make my requests by phone...then I fax as well (when staying at Pop). This time I may try online check in though.

The ground floor request was online. The only request I did by phone was for the building since you can't make that request online. I was lucky to recieve all 3 of my requests. Just remember there is no guarantee that Disney will satisfy your requests.

Will my 4-year-old be able to wear waterwings in the pool? I thought I read somewhere that any floatation device/toys weren't allowed.

I think the potential "downside" with room requests and on-line check in is that if you have two requests and they can't meet both, they don't know which is more important to you. For example, if you request ground floor, bldg XX and they don't have a ground floor in that bldg, they will get you a ground floor in another building. But maybe having a certain building is more important to you than being on the ground floor.

From what I have been told is they go with your first request 1st, so if the building you want is the 2nd and 1st floor is available somewhere else but that building, they will put you in another. Your requests are supposed to be put in order of importance.

Thanks. 1st floor is the most important one for me.

I never read that before and I know at Pop you can bring floaties and toys.

Quick questions how big is really this resort. If you are staying at the Duck or love Bug building how far is it to main building? We normally stay at POR but always have lucked out with a room closer to the main building without being prefered. 10 minute walk is not far to our standards at Disney.

I've never been over on that side, but I can't imagine anywhere being more than 10 minutes. It's about 3 minutes from the far-most back corner of the Toy Story section if that gives you an idea.

I have had the pleasure to stay a all three of those places :cool1:

far end of Mighty Duck was only about 7 min wander We loved it here both times we were right off the quiet pool :thumbsup2
Love Bug we were near the Winner Circle. found that location a bit more noisier than Mighty Ducks. The walk here to the main building was a bit farther closer to the 10mins.

POR that was the longest walk we have ever had .... I found out I much preferred the smaller size of the Value resort in comperison to the grandious space of the Moderate. It was a nearly 15 min walk to the main building.

Thank you for your replies. I'm glad to hear it's only a quick walk away regardless of where you stay at Movies. Seems like the main building is close enough to fill our mugs or garb a quick snack. I'm too cheap to pay for a prefered room if I don't have to... can use the money for other things LOL I'm actually getting excited about this trip since I've changed my reservations from POP to Movie. I think this resort will appeal way more to my daughters and myself but we will miss POR.

Does anyone have any more news as to how far they are into the refurb?

We are seriously thinking of changing our resort for our Aug/Sept trip to ASMo. Our DS is obsessed with Toy Story and while I know that the Toy Story buildings are not slated to be completed until November, I am wondering if I were to change, what my chances of recieving a refurbed are?
I will not stay in one of their older rooms.

I'm pretty sure 1,2 and 3 are done. Last report was they were working on 4 but i would think by now that would almost be done. But it is summer season so who knows. Maybe someone else will know for sure .

So excited to stay here! Hoping to get a MD room, as the boys would love it! Plus being closer to the parking lot works for us!!

We are booked to stay in a preferred room at ASMo the last week of October. I requested a Toy Story room, but from what I'm reading the Toy Story building will probably be in the middle of the refurb when we are there. Will I still get a room in one of the other preferred buildings (even though my first request may not be available)?

If you paid for preferred you'll get a preferred room somewhere. Sometimes all preferred rooms will be full and they will put you in a standard room but they will refund the difference. I doubt that will happen at ASMo because most of the rooms are preferred.

When is ASMo getting rehabbed? I am going mid november, will this affect me? I want to stay in Toy Story?

The last I read, Toy Story section will be the last to undergo the rehab and is slated to be completed by the beginning of November. So you should be good!

We are booked for the Toy Story building in December. We are on the QSDP with the refillable mug but I must have a good cup of Starbucks brewed coffee every morning so I plan on bringing my own coffee pot. What I was wondering though is what kind of creamers are stocked in the self service beverage station at the Food Court at ASMo?

Also, I know there is some sort of little market to buy milk or juice at the hotel. Do they sell half gallons or containers large than single serve and if so how inflated is the cost? We are renting a refrigerator and won't have a car so just wondering if it is possible to buy a decent quality of milk on property.

I don't think you can be sure you will be in Toy Story.

Not sure what they have for creamers. Last I checked milk was 2.99 for a half gallon in the gift shop.

Sorry, probably should have phrased that differently :confused3
We booked Preferred - requested Connecting Rooms and Toy Story Building. Should I also have to request two beds or is that a given when not requesting a handicapped accessible room? We definitely need two beds in each room.

$2.99/ half gallon is not too bad of a price for milk. I also meant to say a good quantity of milk not quality. I am really only anticipating a few days of in-room cereal eating but definitely will be having daily coffee in the room while waiting for the teens to get ready.

I've narrowed down our resort choice to Pop Century or All Star Movies for 2012. To help with the choice, can you please answer some questions?

1. To confirm, does All Star Movies have sink area privacy curtains in every room, including standard rooms?

2. I know movies are not shown at AS Movies because they are shown within walking distance at AS Music, but are there other pool activities (bingo games, trivia games, etc.) offered at the Fantasia pool?

3. Do large groups commonly stay at AS Movies in Mid to Late September, or is it mostly families?

Thank you!

There are curtains in the rrfurbished rooms including standard. We stayed in Mighty Ducks bldg 2 May 29 to June 6.

They are showing Movies at all the All Stars now. I still prefer watching them at Music because you can watch them from the pool.
Don't know about groups in September. I have a thread about our trip here on the resorts board.
