Resort Thread Disney's ALL-STAR MOVIES Resort

Kim Im going to be honest with you...........its not a mod:sad2:but that beign said its not all that bad either.:confused3 The rooms that we have stayed in have always been very clean. We love the theming gives you a great Disney fell. :love:The pools are :love:nice and the food courts are fine. I dont think Id choose any value other than POP because of the bussing. We loved the theme of all star sports ( having two athletic boys) But the busses at POP made that our #1 choice for a value. We do not go to Disney for the full on resort experince. We go to Disney for the parks so we choose values. I hope this helps, have a great vacation!:goodvibes

Help me, please! We are booked here in June for 11 nights, our 1st value vs. mod. Think it'll be ok? :confused3 I've heard not so nice reports about crowded buses and bus wait times at park close. :confused3 We booked preferred room, but buses don't care about that.

We are a Moderate family too, and we just stayed at ASMovies in Dec and we only rode the bus once, but our experience was good. Our party split up so my dad and I caught the bus at Hollywood Studios at close after Fantasmic and we waited about 10 minutes for a bus and we actually got seats - it was a nice experience. The bus stop for ASMovies at HS is the very last slot though so be prepared.

We stayed Preferred too and we were in a Toy Story building. It was great - literally only steps away from the Food Court and pool. The only issue I had with the resort was the noise. If we stay Value again I am going to pack a small fan to drain out outside noise.

The resort itself is so cute and the theming is great. We walked the whole resort to check out all the sections. Have fun!!! :goodvibes

You're right about choosing a room over parks and adventure and eating! That's why we chose Value over Mod this time - to spend more time in the parks and enjoying WDW! :thumbsup2 I will remember this encouragement whenever I'm waiting tooo long for a BUS. ;)

how awful are the buses with a double stroller?

we didnt have any issues at all. we took a front and back double stroller at walmart. a lot of people had the same one we did at the parks. wed open it up, wheel the kids to the stop, let them sit or whatever, cover them in sunscreen while we waited and then once we saw the bus coming got them out and flipped it closed. one parent took the kids, the other followed behind with the stroller and held it on the way to the parks. the am's were usually fine tons of room, the nites were a bit more crowded as we stayed til closing. but same as before, one parent had the kids- and usually with small kids, others will give up their seats. the kids slept and the other had the stroller to hold on to.

once we got to our stop, one got off with it, opened it and put whatever sleeping child in while the other walked or got carried.

I just wanted to say that I don't have much help to offer, but I'm with you! We have stayed in all 3 categories of resort, but have been doing deluxe lately, and haven't done all stars since before kids. We planned a vacation to Clearwater in March, and couldn't resist adding on some Disney days once we received a PIN code. So we picked ASMo. I've thought many times about changing resorts, especially after reading some of the things that others have said about values here. But we got such a great deal, our boys love Toy Story (we booked preferred, too, and requested the TS building) and we spend all day in the parks anyway. And I've read the thread "Deluxe Girl Goes Value" and been very encouraged! Also, I know many would disagree, but I have experienced similar bus service in all 3 categories of resorts, so I'm not all that worried about the busses at value vs. mod.

Since we're going in March, I promise to come back here and post an update!

I have always had good bus service at the values. At least as good as the moderates but probably better. I like that the value resorts have queues at the resort.

I like the food courts at the values too. The rooms are a bit smaller but really not that much smaller than the moderates. The only thing I really miss at the value vs. moderate is the fridge.

I'm sure you'll have a great trip!!!!

Thank you. I feel much better about itafter reading your reply. We'll probably be in the same boat as you were re: coming home at the very end of the night. When we went last time we only had one kid and we had taken a smaller umbrella stroller to carry with us on the monorail. Now I'll be toting around a sit&stand, so a bit bulkier than last time. I'm sure I'll survive though!

no prob! ours is a sit and stand as well, altho has a seat for the second child to sit on. really wasnt as hard as i thought it would be...and since we connected through newark- landing in a leaving from c it was a godsend! plus its a lot cheaper to bring your own vs rent from either disney or orlando stroller rental. have fun!

Feb 28th - Mar 6th will be our first time staying at ASMO! We are taking our dd8 for a birthday trip. I would love to ask a couple of questions to all you ASMO vets.
1) Does ASMO have music playing in the common areas?
2) How is the arcade?

We have previously stayed at POP and we felt the music really made the environment festive! Also, we really liked POP's arcade and are hoping the movies ia comparible. We are excited to stay at the movies, but also anxious because ASMO doesn't SEEM to get the attention is used to. Thanks everyone! I know some ASMO fans will put my mind at ease!! :thumbsup2

Sorry about that last reply. I'm new, and clearly don't have a clue what I'm doing.:rolleyes1
I couldn't figure out how to delete it either...

good morning everyone!

We had our very first Disney trip Feb 2-11 and it was everything and more that we dreamed of.
I wanted to add "my two cents" regarding a couple of questions that I saw posted here on the last couple of pages:
regarding the cheerleaders:
while we were staying at ASMo we had the VERY large group of Argentinian girls (all aged 15) there, plus the National Dance competitors. The food court was INSANE in the mornings if we slept in. (for the most part, we tried to eat breakfast around 7am in order to be on the first bus for the day). If you are there at the same time as the cheerleaders, then I would very strongly advise early breakfasts and late suppers (if you don't eat at a park).
Also, try to find out what parks the girls will be at and go to a different one. LOL We learned that very quickly after waiting for the bus at the end of a day.
That being said, the busses were excellent. I don't know why people would choose to drive and attempt to navigate that huge area when they can just sit back and let someone else do it for you. ;0)
As for noise - for us, there wasn't any. At all. The girls all had strict curfews and plus, where our room was (5735 Fantasia) we were around the side and it was very quiet, yet just steps from the pool and food court.
Oh, and if you are planning to do any laundry while the large groups are there, try to do it when the girls are gone for the day. One lady was telling me she tried for 3 days in a row to get hers done.

Someone asked about music playing? There is music playing in ASMo, but during the day, when it is busy, it can be hard to hear it. We were all laughing about that actually. We got up two nights in a row to see the shuttle launch and were commenting on how much louder the music seemed at 4am when it was empty. ;0)
The arcade was fun - we spent a rainy afternoon in there and had lots of laughs. Lots of games to choose from.

hope this helps. We'd go back in a heartbeat and have nothing but good, positive, things to say about everyone/thing there.

Going down with 2.75 yr old and a 1.5 yr old...I will prob request one PnP and assume my older one will sleep with me and my DH...My parents are coming down for half of our week trip...so i feel it doesn't make any sense to get another room for just a couple of nights...Do you think we will be over crowded at ASMo? (4 adults and 2 DCs under 3 yrs old)

Yes, and from page 1 - Room Occupancy: Will 5 people fit in a room at ASMo? No. Rooms are limited to 4 persons, plus one infant in a crib. However, there are connecting rooms. This is a great option for larger families, as it allows for up to 8 people, two TVs and two bathrooms. Roll-Away cots are available, but due to fire code, can only be used in a King-Bed room.

Sorry. :guilty:
