Resort Thread Disney's ALL-STAR MOVIES Resort

In numerous trips to Disney hotels, I've only been on the 1st floor once and I don't remember if it was noisier or not, so I'm not much help there.
You are correct about the buses. There is one large bus waiting area just in front of the main building (check-in, food court, gift shop, arcade) where everyone waits but there are separate signs/ lines for each destination. (Some are combined. Like DD and TL, I think.) Anyway, when I was last at an All-Star in 2006 the areas weren't roped off, but people still formed clear lines. It was President's week and very busy and we didn't have any problems.
As far as the view goes, I don't know if you can request not to look at a parking lot or not. We always request by theme based on the kids' interests at the time.:thumbsup2

Thanks, SmallWorld! I visited your dining thread, now I feel like I know your family! We think a lot alike--I love your positive attitude and open-minded approach. When we first did WDW, my boys were 3, 6 & 8. The we added #4, and had to go back to recreate the magic with him--I've always felt bad that our first trip was before he was born! We've been back every few years since. Now that "baby" is 16, and this trip will be just his--now maybe I can stop feeling guilty about that first one! Each trip is different, always old favorites and new adventures to share, and I love the planning part. This one is different because there's so little time to obsess and anticipate! :)

Anybody have any great solutions to the no coffee pot problem? What about hair dryers--do they have plenty or should I bring one?

Hi all, this is my first value resort trip and it's a grand gathering trip with my parents and Bro/SIL. I reserved 3 rooms at ASMo with the request of being in building 10 (I think that's Buzz). How long are the bus rides to the parks? Do all the AS share buses in the summer? Is it true that refurbs have not started yet on ASMo rooms?

TIA!

I need to know is that does the All-Star Movies Resorts played any film in the all-star movies resort before. Oh! One more thing! what time is check-in and what time to check-out!

I'm not sure I understand your first question, but official check in is at 3:00 and checkout is 11:00 a.m. If you arrive before 3, you can go ahead and check in and they will keep your bags, but your room amy or may not be ready.

I've stayed at all 3 All Stars (Toy Story section, Rock Inn at Music and Homerun Hotel at Sports) and honestly, the walks to the main building were all shorter than the walk we had at POR and we weren't even in one of the furthest buildings.

This is just the info I was looking for to decide if a Preferred Room is really that much better than the standard! Thanks for the info!!:yay:

Thank you for the info! Oh! one more thing! Is Fantasia is a Preferred or Standard room? Because our mom and Dad and I are planning to stay in all Star Movies! I hope it is Fantasia theme! What is the Difference of Preferred and Standard rooms?

I'm Sorry you are confused! I need to know because our family are planning to stay in the all-Star Movies resort! OH! One more thing does Fantasia is a Preferred or Standard room! What is the Difference between a Preferred and the Standard room!

The difference between the standard and preferred is that the preferred are usually closer to pools, the main hall and or the bus stops.

Fantasia, 101 Dalmatians, and Toy Story are all preferred. Mighty Ducks and Herbie Love Bug are the only standard buildings. The difference in the preferred and standard is $10 a night, and the preferred buildings are closer to the food court/bus stop.

I still don't understand your other question, could you please post it again? The wording doesn't make any sense:

I don't think any refurbs have been done on ASMo, although not 100% positive. Movies opened approximately 5 years later than the other 2 All Stars (1999 vs. 1994) which is why it would be the last one.

The bus ride to AK and Blizzard Beach is very short, just a few minutes. I'd put Epcot and DHS at about 10-15 and MK at 15-20min. but those are are just guesstimates. MK is the furthest out, but it takes a while to get to MK from all the resorts (Except the MK resorts ;) ) As far as sharing buses, it usually depends on how busy it is. In the summer, you'll probably see some sharing mid-day, but not so much 1st thing in the morning or at closing. But, that's just a guess. I stayed at Sports during President's week in '06 and we never shared buses. But, that is a very busy week. When I stayed at Movies late August '01 we shared about 1/2 the time but the parks were very quiet that week. Honestly, I think the sharing at the All-Stars is easier than the sharing at Disney's more expensive resorts because they are all next to each other. JMHO
