Resort Thread Disney's ALL-STAR MOVIES Resort

No not at all you goto bell services at the resort you are departing and they will count youre luggage and tag it and they will give you a receipt with the tag number and number of pieces and it will have the resort your luggage is going to on the tag they put on the luggage. It will also have your name on it. Make sure you get youre receipt part just in case you never know! No our transfers went very smoothly.:)

You make me feel so much better!!

You make me feel so much better!! When are you going next?

We were originally going the same exact week as you. But my DD is entering HS this year and she is on the Cheer Squad and she has mandatory Summer Camp and it is that week So now we are going 8/26-8/31 and we are doing Universal from 8/24-8/26 haven't been to universal in over 4 yrs! I can't wait! I just recently got a code for Disney and recieved 30% off also! I'm hoping for free dining but if not i'll keep the 30%.

Thanks for all your advices.....On 2005 I submitted a fax 4 days prior our arrival and I got everything I request at ASMU...this year I will do the same hoping we have the same magical requests...

hey guys! My family and I are staying at ASM for the first time; our previous trips we stayed at POP. My concern is, reading how ASM has added all but 2 of the building as preferred rooms, I would like to be in the building closest to the bus stop/food court. My Mom is handicapped and after one time staying at POP in standard room i NEVER want that experience again.. it was horrible and wayyyy too far of a walk.

I stressed my concern when booking but I thought about calling or faxing a week before we arrive and requesting a close enough building. We have 3 rooms booked and still not sure if I should leave it the way it is or take a chance and make a request? As long as the rooms are close enough and not too far of a walk. Im not familiar with the layout or the building locations so I wouldnt know whats best.

any suggestions??

thanks.

ps- my other concern is sharing busses with other AS resorts. but I guess its no big deal:confused3

I've not stayed there, but if you want a certain area you need to request it ahead of time.

QUESTION: whats the most convenient(closest) building to the foodcourt/bus stop?

thx.

We stayed in the toy story building and that was close to thefood court and bus stops, it looked like if you stayed in fanatasia you are close also. I believe that some rooms in fanatasia were closer. Hope this helps

I looked at the map on allearsnet.com and technically I'd say that the Buzz Lightyear building is the closest. But, Fantasia and Dalmations also have rooms that are close. We're going to request Dalmations because DD is a dog lover and we could only get a preferred room for free dining. I'd be happy with Fantasia too. We stayed in Toy Story (Woody) back in 2001 when the boys were into the movie and thought it was a great location. Just hoping for something different this time. If you don't have preferred, I'd go with Mighty Ducks. You are just a hop, skip and jump away from the ASMu food court/bus stop.

I've stayed at all 3 All Stars (Toy Story section, Rock Inn at Music and Homerun Hotel at Sports) and honestly, the walks to the main building were all shorter than the walk we had at POR and we weren't even in one of the furthest buildings.:scared1: Although we enjoyed the resort, I can't believe they don't have preferred like the values do.

I know someone mentioned buses. I personally have never had a problem. I tend to go at pretty busy times of year and sharing buses was pretty rare. Even when they did share, it took less time than it did at POR/POFQ or BW/S&D/Y&BC.

So when are you going? We are booked there for Aug. 24th-31st.

Hey, not the pp, but we are there Aug. 24 - 30th too (DH and I and our 3 kids 11, 8, 5, and my parents as well)...maybe we'll see you there! We are aiming for Buzz building tho, in honour of DS 6th birthday although Dalmations would be our second choice.

Okay, I know this is probably a really lame question but thought i'd ask!

What constitutes as close and far in terms of a walk? 5 mins, 10, 15???

Yay! My mom and I are taking DS9 and DD5. DH is staying home this time (which he is definitely regretting) and DS12 is actually my step son and he will be vacationing with his mom and step father this summer. (Although he would rather be going to Disney. :sad1: ) Anyway, the 4 of us are looking forward to it. My mom always took us as kids, but she hasn't been in 11 years so we are taking her back. We were thinking of going to Music, because they have some activities for the kids at the main pool and the arcade, but the theme of Movies appeals so much more to the kids. I am going to get a copy of the activities when I am down there though (assuming they are going on) since it really is just a short walk away. DS9 want to try the Mario Cart competition if they have one and maybe see one of the movies in the evening. Just something to check out if you have some down time planned at your resort. Of course, the pool is probably enough to keep my kids entertained and we're usually so busy at the parks and of course eating :rotfl: but everyone needs a break sometime.:)

thanks for the info! I dont care which building we get as long as its close. The closer, the better =D We also have 3 rooms and Im not sure how difficult that will be to accomodate us being next to or near each other.

thanks again!!!

If you are staying in one of the preferred buildings(Toy Story, Dalmations, or Fantasia) you can see the food court building when you walk out of your room. Very short walk for drinks, coffee in the morning, etc. www.wdwinfo.com can give you more info. about the specific buildings that are considered preferred. Hope this helps!!!:thumbsup2

How fun to be here! Not planning a WDW trip this year, we were there last summer and we're an "every 4-5 years" type of family. But here's my story: DS, 16 years old, is doing a Disney trip with his HS band. I figured their performance venue would be like his brother's trip several eyars ago, they played on a stage at Epcot in the middle of a blistering afternoon. Awesome, but I could live without being there to see it. So, this time, the band gets to march in Spectro Magic at MK! I started pouting immediately. The most magical moment in all of WDW? DH is chaperoning, so he gets to watch, and I'm stuck at home in St. Louis? WAAAAHHHHH!

So, happy Mother's Day to me, he surprised me with a plane ticket to get me there for a couple nights to see the parade! And booked me at ASMo! Never been to a value, we've done moderates and cabins before. This trip is all about saving the bucks, getting mom there to watch the parade. Everything else is bonus! I'm working on another mom to tag along, but if I have to go solo, I will. DH will be bunking with the band kids elsewhere, they have a longer trip, beach, bus, etc.

So, what do I need to know--tell me quick, it's only a month away, and my favorite part of a WDW vacation is the.....anticipation!

Thanks so much for all the info. We are staying at Movies Dec. 2-6..CANNOT WAIT!!! Alot of my questions were answered. Will be calling to request fridge (have a 2 year old). also going to see if I can requestion 101 Dalmations. Thanks Again everyone~:worship:

How exciting that you get to go! I think I'm a rare breed, because I really love the values. The only others I've stayed in are POR and a Boardwalk/Beach Club stay. (Don't get me wrong, I loved those too. I'm just very frugal.:) ) Personally, I find the buses to be very efficient at the values, just more crowded than the deluxe because of more people. The food courts can be very busy and loud at peak times. But, this is true of the mods as well and hey Boardwalk doesn't even have a food court so who am I to complain. Anyway, if you've stayed at higher level resorts, you may notice the little touches that are missing like the double sink, bigger room, full service restaurant etc... but when you consider the price, I think the values are phenomenal.
Have fun! Spectro is on of my all time fav Disney things.:worship:

Thanks, I'm really looking forward to this! Let's see...just me, so I think one sink will do! Just me, so I think one bed for sleeping and one to spread my suit case on sounds spacious! Just me, so table service is not even appealing--I'll be meeting my guys in the parks! And no budget at all for this last minute trip, so the price is phenomenal indeed! The only thing I might miss is a coffee pot. I guess I can cope!

I'm not even too concerned about location, I'm glad to walk the extra steps. What do you all think about first, second, third floor--is it quieter up top? I'd rather not step out and see a parking lot first thing, but I'm not sure how to phrase that as a request. I do have a "preferred", that's what was available.

The busses sound OK to me--am I reading it right, that the whole resort goes to the main location, but different bus slots for each destination? That sounds efficient, compared to Carribean Beach, where each "island" had one stop, and all the park busses pulled up there--with the whole crowd straining to see if it was the bus they wanted.

We've been to CBR, POR, and FW, and really, the transportaton was always just fine most of the time. I've also never been this early in the season [may28-30], always later in the July/August crowds. I wonder what will it be like just after Memorial Day? :)
