Resort Thread Disney's ALL-STAR MOVIES Resort

Just got back from staying in Love Bug building #7. At check in we were told to contact house keeping if there was not a fridge in our room. There was not, but we had a one in our room within 15 min of calling. :thumbsup2

I'm at Movies right now (checked-in Saturday) and we have a fridge in our room (Dalmatians Bldg 1), and we have the free wireless internet. We are thoroughly enjoying our stay here, and every cast member we've encountered has been wonderful. Only went to one park so far (DHS) yesterday. In the morning, we had our own bus pick us up (5 minute wait), but when we came back around 3pm, we did share a bus with the two other All-Stars (but still only a 5 minute wait for the bus)

I just called ASM to see ask about the new refrigerators if they have a freezer and the lady asked me where I had heard about these that they are only for medical needs or are a fee otherwise. So frustrating when we need to know these things before we travel and are getting different answers.

When you call the resort you don't actually get the resort you get a call center.

Photos that have been posted show a fridge withOUT a freezer.

When I called she answerd front desk.:confused3 So if these do not have a freezer I wonder if we can swap them out for one that does.

The call center answers to whatever resort you are calling. If you need a freezer for medical issues have that noted on your reservation.

We are staying there 12/2-12/8. I have a preferred room but would like the Toy Story building. Is there specific rooms/areas that are better than others? What views do you have from a TS room? Too excited to even think about this!!!

We got back from ASMo about one week ago. We were in Rm 9911 and it did have a fridge. The best possible view in the TS room IMHO is the TS courtyard with the huge Buzz and the giant Woody (tee-hee). Our room was at the corner on the very end building #9, if you went down the stairs instead of the elevator we were basically directly on the path to the lobby/food court (and directly across from the playground). We didn't really have a view of anything but we really liked our room location! Our stay was amazing and we really enjoyed it!

I'm arriving at ASM in 10 days and am so excited! This might be a silly question, but I would like to get an early morning (6am-ish) run in a couple of the days. Is it possible to run near the hotels, between them, between the parks? What surrounds the hotel? Highway?

.....for two nights last week. I grew up in Orlando, and my folks now live in St. Pete. This was the first time my wife, 6yo daughter and I had ever stayed on property.

We were in room 0913, Toy Story building 10. On the backside of the building, view of parking lot and trees, but that was ok.

Our room did have a fridge, no freezer. And free wifi, which worked great.

We did some pool time on the first (check in) day, and a friend of mine from high school came by with her 3yo. No problem having them join us at the pool.

Some loud construction (jackhammering!) at the large pool chased us over to the smaller Mighty Ducks pool. Much quieter.

We did a day at Studios, meaning my daughter has now been to all four WDW parks. We did the second day at Typhoon before driving back to StP.

Any specific questions about ASMo, fire away!!

Just how spread out is this resort? I've seen maps, but it's hard to grasp the concept by a map. We have a Standard room booked for our May 1st trip but I'm beginning to wonder if I should upgrade to Preferred? We won't be spending much time at the resort (3 night trip) but I really don't want a miserably long walk in the morning to go get coffee & snacks.

Would you upgrade?

I booked our next trip for 11/24-12/02.....SO super excited!!! I received a FD pin in the mail a while back and it expired today. I wasn't sure if we would be able to go, so I waited until last minute. We have been twice and both times to POP. When I booked, POP was completely sold out. The only thing left for my pin was Movies (preferred), Music and Sports. The last two were the least appealing to me, and I had wanted to try Movies for a bit, but not the preferred. However, I went with it. ;) We are a family of 7, so I requested two connecting rooms in the Toy Story section. Hoping I get it!

I will definitely be hanging out on this thread for a bit!

BTW, jenseib, before I found your photo thread I wasn't sure about my decision with ASMo.......now I am SO pumped! Thanks so much!!!

I have only been to ASMo once and we were in the Herbie section. It wasn't too bad. They would the most remote. Mighty Ducks is also standard and from what I've read a short walk to ASMu food court and bus stop.

That being said I did book a preferred room for my next trip with just DD(9). I wanted to be close to food court so I could run down and leave her in the room.

Thanks lovesdumbo. Good to hear it wasn't unbearable.

Several years ago we stayed at AKL in one of the far reaching savannahs and the walk was so miserable to Mara & the pool that we ended up not eating dinner one night. DD7 was in an exhausted melt down and was "done for" (there was no way I was getting her out of the room for more walking) and I wasn't comfortable leaving her in the room alone for that long to go get us food. That was our first and last stay at AKL.

Thanks!

ASMo is by far my fave Value resort:love:. We are staying at ASMu this summer, however, which is also a fave. I love the Toy Story section the most, but all of it is great. ASMo will always be special to me bc it is where we stayed on our first on-site Disney trip. After that trip, we have only stayed on-site since!

Thanks to those who put this thread together. We are in the process of planning our next trip and we are planning to stay at a value resort. The only value we've done before is Pop so I kinda wanted to try something different. I think we will definitely stay at ASMo!! Here is my question- on our last trip we were at CBR in a pirate room and it was SO far from the food court and main pool (like over 15 minute walk with a stroller and a poky walking four year old). Is this resort smaller or do we need to do a preferred room? We were literally in the farthest building at CBR but it kind of turned me off of that resort.
